Guns don't kill people. But people with guns kill people.
martaug Mon, 10th Dec '07, 4:51am have they determined if it was the same shooter in both cases yet?
also, notice how he was stopped.
Stefanina Mon, 10th Dec '07, 7:29am My friends who go to that church are okay, thank goodness.
Iku-Turso Mon, 10th Dec '07, 9:31am Werther effect...
The Shaman Mon, 10th Dec '07, 2:07pm Another week, another tragedy... my condolences to the families of the victims. Martaug, a current article says the police are investigating a link, but they're not sure yet.
also, notice how he was stopped.
Yes, I did. There's something to be said about security guards, as well.
The Great Snook Mon, 10th Dec '07, 4:24pm Thank God, this didn't happen in a "gun free" zone. Who knows how many others would be dead?
Splunge Mon, 10th Dec '07, 8:08pm "Gun free zones" apply to citizens, not to people (such as police or security guards) given the responsibility for ensuring public safety.
martaug Tue, 11th Dec '07, 6:18am unfortunately splunge, a lot of gun free zones apply to everyone other than law enforcement. so even duly licensed armed security can't carry there.
i was wondering about the church security. AFAIK there aren't any churches around here with security staffs. oh sure, a lot have a deputy sheriff or police officer working off duty on weds or sundays, mainly to protect against car breakins but no full time security. is this normal for colorado?
Stefanina Tue, 11th Dec '07, 8:26am This particular church has been coping with a lot of issues, including a past preacher accused of homosexual activity. It does not surprise me that it has armed security. It now appears that the two shootings in Colorado were linked.

martaug Tue, 11th Dec '07, 9:05am holy toledo! thats a big church!! 10,000 members down from 14,000! there are nearby towns with smaller populations then that. he(the shooter) really sounds messed up, he enrolled in a christian college and dropped out and a "police source" says he hated christians?!? something just doesnt sound right.

Oh, no! Lucifer will be stoking the coals over that one!
The Shaman Tue, 11th Dec '07, 11:37am Oh that was that Ted Haggard's church? He made the blog news awhile ago. Nasty business, that. But I'd agree that for all the "plummeting" numbers, ten thousand people are quite a lot. I wonder if the shooter had some connections to the New Life.

Yes, this is the same church as the Haggard debacle. As for the killer's connections, In short, yes (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20071211/ts_alt_afp/uscrimeassault_071211030840;_ylt=ApgSkv86dZNgOs9J2 UhUiheQiulF)

Barmy Army Wed, 12th Dec '07, 1:12pm He's a sandwich short a picnic that guy, isn't he. What a sad, sad little man. It seems America (and Britain) has it's own terrorists to sort out, before we go bullying and bombing other countries....
