What are your thoughts on barbarians contra berzerks.

Which one is most fun to play and why?

I actually prefer the barbarian for his faster movement speed and resistances, he's more offensive to play (don't care about the armor restriction) and his rage is a very powerful ability. I also think that dwarven race offers better advantages than human or half-orc races for this class.

Some info can be found below, where I compared both classes:

I was picturing a happy viking with an axe in one hand an a big round shield in the other and a big smile, joyusly bashing heads to the left and right :D

do the barbarians rage ability work against dear oleŽ kangaxx?

(was planning to solo)

I haven't made a compariosn between them and haven't actually played the berzerker. I have played a dwarven barbarian and really enjoyed it. The downsides are the armour restrictions and the rage isn't quite what I expected. It is very useful but doesn't last as long as I'd hoped and seems to take a little time to activate. Still, it is effective and yes even against Kangaxx :)

The armour restriction isn't much of a bother though. I found there was some pretty decent kit he could wear anyway (Death Mail early (I think), the Shadow scale (or whatever from the dragon) and then something even better that I can't remember), when you also allow for his resistances and the use of the Flayle of Easthaven plus the huge number of hit points, armour becomes of little imortance.

If you want to get more of a flavour for playing a barbarian, you could try reading my journal:

I have to say berserker is superior to barbarian, not only he can wear fullplate armor and get grand-mastery weapon proficiency, but also be immune to imprisonment while raged, which a raged barbarian is not in fact.

berserkers are great characters. Every non-ranger/paladin fighter I've made has been a berserker. Those rage immunities are priceless considering that the most dangerous opponents in the game are the ones that charm/confuse/hold. Add a cloak of reflection and some potions of genius and you can walk through the underdark without a scratch.
