Just a little information that could help out. I have played thought the whole game about 3 times. I was getting good. I put together a party, it was unstoppable every battle was I piece of cake, I thought I was the best player of all time. One day I took a look at the difficulty settings and found out my son set it to easy. Well it turns out I was not as good as I thought. Just something to think about if other people play on you system.

Bah... first time on D&D hardcore.
Second&all other times on insane.

Makes all too easy if not having on insane ;)

Mine's on easy setting and I struggle. :(
This is the first game I have ever really played tho'. I got it to relax after work. I'm more of a books and movie kinda person. So I guess I shouldn't feel too ashamed. I play this game alot more than I thought I was going to.
I don't have anyone else on this machine and my setting somehow slid up to insane. Haven't figured that out yet. So yeah, it's good to check.
Btw, does anyone know offhand what the setting changes? Enemy hitpoints or what?

I always tend to play on core rules. Never tried the insane difficulty. If it was wort my while with special items etc. a la Heart of Fury of Icewind Dale II then maybe, but i couldn't be bothered really.

lol if you want a challenge then get the tactics mod, but besides that im playin core rules and the only problem's i have is when i first start out and the hold/charm/etc. spells are casted to a very annoying extent. then when i get keldorn it doesnt bother me anymore :)

[snip] render all difficulty levels redundant, IMHO

There are no [snip] in SoA.

Anyway, I usually play through on core rules, just because anything else feels like there's a ridiculous handicap. I've got improved scripts for any enemy worth my time, so it's all good.

I think I might do a run-through on insane though, just to see what it's like.
