A BLOKE with a beard sent shockwaves round the world yesterday when he announced: “I’m PREGNANT.”

It's not a bloke, it's a chick who had surgery. What's the whole problem here?

What's the whole problem? Hey, it's the Sun.

What do you mean 'what's wrong'? It's a geezer! Could you imagine being the offspring of that? It's cruelty and selfishness at the very least... and, well.. ewww!

It's not a geezer. "It"'s biologically still a woman. Woman on some hormones and whose breasts were cut off. But still a woman. And now the woman is pregnant.

I have to wonder why "she" decided to become a "he", but decided to keep her reproductive organs. If someone feels uncomfortable with their original gender, and is willing to go through a sex change, then why only go half way? It makes me wonder what her real motivation was for going through the procedure in the first place.

Edit: I realize that her excuse was this:

Tracy then had a sex change because Hawaiian law barred same-sex marriages.

but that seems a bit extreme.

A very odd story to be sure. I hope Hawaii, or Oregon, or wherever, has lots of skilled therapists for when the kid grows up.

What is so cruel and selfish about it? The child will likely be raised in the same way as any other child. The only real difference is that its mother won't actually be its mother. But adopted children can still consider their adopting mother their true mother, at least as far as they are concerned.

Could you imagine being the offspring of that?

There are far worse families to be born into.

Or at least the kids at school aren't complete ....... . Still, Decados has a point that there are worse families to be born into if that's the main problem with it. Systematic household abuse, for example, beats gender role confusion any day of the week.

Well the article also said she was a lesbian. She saw this as a way to legally get married to her partner, while still maintaining her lesbian parts. To put it another way, she wanted to become a man to be able to get married. However, she doesn't want to have sex as a man - she still wants to have sex as a gay woman - so I don't really think it's THAT strange.

On the other hand, the story itself is REALLY STRANGE. I find her reasons for the sex change much less strange than getting pregnant.
