I'm playing as a paladin (cavalier) and is therefore of a good alignment. However I've now noticed, well into chapter 6, that I've turned into a neutral Evil PC...?!

My reputation is 19 or 20 and I have always done the "good things", though I did have my reputation decreased twice. First when I made Solaufein a member of my party, and second when I decided to get the kidnappers ransom (silver pants). Is this reason enough to make me an evil PC or is it a bug? I'm also playing Shadows over Soubar if it might help...

Chapter 6, is that the part with the 5 tests/Tears of Bhaal ??
if so, it's possible your alignment shifts to Evil if you chose the 'evil' options when solving one,two,... of the tests

I'd say getting the ransom was not very paladin-like.

nahhh, I know shouldn't have collected the ransom, but wanted to see what the ransom is ;)

and chapter 6 is the bodhi quest. Right now I'm just tying up a few loose ends before I kill her...

Unless you imported your character and the ?gold? pants from Baldur's Gate 1, the ones from SoA are useless.
In ToB you find the last pair of pants
You can forge a Golem outfit from it :)

Did you side with the Shadowthieves or Bodhi in Chapter 3?
Can you use your pally abilities (lay on hands etc?)

If you can use them, yuor pally rocks :D

I sided with the shadow thieves, I can still use my paladin abilities and yes I do have the golden pants from bg1 ;)

I had to use ShadowKeeper in order to get a specific key for quest in Shadows over Soubar (Yeah I know it's propably "cheating", but it was the only way out...), and according to the program I'm still of a good alignment...but it still says I'm neutral evil...

I say have fun with it. But if it isn't causing any problems I wouldn't worry about it. Who cares what the little word at the alignment line is? You can play a good pally if you want.
