What I mean by 'correct' is that at the start of Baldur's Gate 2 the game has assumed we had:

Protagonist
Imoen
Jaheira
Khalid
Minsc
Dyanheir

Now for those of us that have the additional Merchants in the Adventurer's Mart, we have no doubt seen the wares of 'Deidre' and the weapons and items from prominent characters of Planescape Torment. Vhailor's Helm and Dak'kon's Zerth blade. In the description it states they were both destroyed whilst helping the Nameless One.

SO what I'm eventually getting round to saying is the Nameless One couldn't have absorbed the Transcendent One (In anyway shape or form) as then Dak'kon and Vhailor would have been resurrected and sent back to Sigil.

This means that either the Nameless One fought single handily against the Transcendent One or ressurected just one of his companions (Possibly two including Morte)

Any thoughts?

The bonus merchant items aren't really canon, so looking into them beyond the surface is bound to result in inconsistencies. There is no official connection between Torment and BG2.

I think of the items as an easter egg more than anything else. If you think about it, no one other than Dak'kon would be able to use the Zerth blade (at least not use it properly). There's also nothing in PST to suggest that Vhailor's helm is anything more than a normal helm - and once Vhailor is "killed" (if you convince him to do so through dialogue) the power animating the suit of armor is gone and you'd be left with just an ordinary helm.

Yeah I think you are both right, perhaps I was just looking into it a little to deeply. I did wonder why Dak'kon's zerth blade would remain after his death, and also if they did die in the Fortress of Regrets how the hell would Deidre possibly manage to get hold of those items?

Thanks for the replies guys.

How would someone get a hold of the Rod of Orcas or Eye of Vecna for that matter -- they just add some interesting variation to the game (and free advertising).

Unless Dierdre is really a very good salesman and it's just part of her patter. "Take a look at this wonderful blade, once carried by a great Githzerai hero..."
If some con artist can attempt to sell you the Planar Sphere for 500 gold, I wouldn't put anything past these merchants!

Haha! Thats an incredibly imaginative explanation for it! Right, got to get in game and teach her a thing or two about false advertisements.
