View Full Version : New game: Tutu through ToB
Rastamage Wed, 28th May '08, 3:14am I started playing around seriously with mods last year in the fall. Then my brother dragged me back into the world of MMOs and my game fell by the way side. I still have all my mods files from last September, though.
I'm planning on playing Tutu through TotSC and then using the canon party of Jaheira, Minsc, and Imoen through ToB. I also intend to Shadowkeeper them to match however they end up at the end of TotSC.
Anyway, to make a long story short (too late!), I am wondering if any ground breaking mods have been released since last September. My ToB party will add Viconia (in BG2) and Sarevok, should that matter at all.
I'm spending tonight and as long as it takes to get a current game. I figure, though, that I may save some serious web surfing by posting here for newer releases while I start sifting through my bookmarks.

Can anybody tell me if the Beregost crash bug is still an issue? I have an old file to try and help with this issue but haven't found any references to this issue in my net searches tonight.
martaug Wed, 28th May '08, 7:39am i haven't seen anything new on it. i just started a new BGT game myself & highly recommend the ummm . . BG1NPC mod i think it's called. it adds a bunch of dialogue & romances to the game & makes it feel a lot more like bg2. some of imoens lines are truly enough to make you laugh hard enough to spit coke on your moniter.
Rastamage Wed, 28th May '08, 8:06am I'm pretty sure I dl'ed that one. I used cmorgan's Tutu mod list in picking my mods and that was one iirc.

IIRC, that's an issue inherent to BG1 so it happens in BG1, BG1tutu, BGT, etc.

As far as I am aware, no-one has yet been able to solve that problem. To truly be safe, you will just have to use the saving method advised, I'm afraid.

As you've decided on characters, I assume you are referring to non-NPC mods?
This forum (http://www.sorcerers.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=51) is regularly updated with new mod releases, so it should be worth checking through.
My memory of what's new is a bit hazy; were IEP Banters (http://www.spellholdstudios.net/ie/npciep), Romantic Encounters (http://www.gibberlings3.net/romanticencounters/) or Assassinations (http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=177&Itemid=121) released in any way back then? I wouldn't have described any of them as revolutionary, but they are solid, enjoyable mods that you may wish to consider.
That's all that is coming to mind right now, so if you wish more specific advice, you'd be best mentioning types of mod you are interested in and what you currently have.
Shaitan Wed, 28th May '08, 12:36pm Angelo NPC (yes Teh guy from BG1) is ready for BG2 :)
Caradhras Wed, 28th May '08, 1:54pm Angelo NPC (yes Teh guy from BG1) is ready for BG2 :)
And it's quite good (I haven't completed my game with him but what I've seen was just perfect).

Non-NPC mods, yes. I'll dig into the links you provided soon. I'm not too concerned with BG2 mods since I still have all of Tutu with TotSC to play through. I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Good, solid mods that enhance and add to gameplay. I like the mod that lets you enhance magic items. I think it is Weimer's ItemUpgrade.
Can anybody refer me to a link such as can be found at http://forums.gibberlings3.net/index.php?showtopic=8122 but for BG2 mods and installation?
Shaitan Wed, 28th May '08, 3:39pm Doing such a list is so much more complicated than for tutu for a lot of reasons. Thus such a list has never been accepted as cmorgan's for tutu.
aVENGER has done something with his great Rogue Rebalancing in mind. You should definitly check out his mod at SHS or at its own forum http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?showtopic=27171
I can - based on others comments - recommend DavidW's mod SCSII. I haven't tried it as it requires too much of my PC.
Rastamage Wed, 28th May '08, 4:11pm I see. Understandable, but too bad. Cmorgan's list for Tutu made reinstallation and updating a breeze. I'll just have to spend some time on BG2 when I get that far.
Decados Wed, 28th May '08, 5:36pm Installation order tends not to be too hard. Have a read through the read-mes to note any advised orders then post what you intend to do here- that way any problems should be brought to your attention before you install everything.
I have played SCSII (and am right now), so I can second Shaitan's recommendation. However, as it is a difficulty-enhancing mod (albeit not a crazy one), you should be reasonably good at the game before installing it.
Aegor Thu, 29th May '08, 12:26am Well for your Tutu game I would strongly suggest to go with the new easy tutu + the fantastic Hard times mod. I've been playing it for the past 2 weeks and I have to say that it did wonders to roleplaying. The whole iron crisis is such a better experience now without all the early +1 items. Give it a shot ;)
Oh and the new NPC project v15 was released in March this year, another thing you shouldn't miss.
About the Beregost bug, are you sure it's not fixed? I haven't experienced it in my current game with the new easy tutu and I did save normally in Beregost... lots of times :D

HardTimes is really worth it - a must have mod.
As is NPC Project. And SCS.
The Beregost bug haven't been fixed, but at PPG you can find a fixer which should help, but not totally.

I believe it has reached v16 these days. ;)

Yeah, pretty certain. You must have been fortunate- long may it continue! However, the bug doesn't crop up all that often- I can only remember being hit by it twice.

No way?! And I just started a new BG1 game less than 2 weeks ago... bugger :p

Hmm, I'll go fill my lottery ticket then :D. I really haven't seen this bug for a long time now so I thought it was fixed. Thanks for the warning. I lost a whole game because of it once, since I did all my saving then via quicksave, not a happy memory that one.
Decados Fri, 30th May '08, 11:48am Ouch. Was the quick-save-only intentional or did you just not bother going into Options to save?
martaug Fri, 30th May '08, 3:04pm i just recently started a new BGT game & was wondering if there is a mod available to alllow you to use spears as a 1 hande weapon? just a personal pet peeve
T2Bruno Fri, 30th May '08, 3:14pm Pet peeve?!?! How is a spear a one-handed weapon?
There is a mod that allows throwable spears (with magical spears returning to your hand). It's on SP somewhere.
martaug Fri, 30th May '08, 3:47pm T2Bruno, the greeks, the romans, the zulus, the vikings just to name a few all used spears as one handed weapons with a shield in the other hand why shouldn't we have that option?
Aegor Fri, 30th May '08, 4:54pm Ouch. Was the quick-save-only intentional or did you just not bother going into Options to save?
I was unaware of the bug at that time, took me a while before I figured out what went wrong :D
That is a good point about spears, but I'm still kind of used to them being two handed. But the thing that I always found strange with spears is that they do the same 1d6 damage as a quarterstaff. Shouldn't the pointy thing on a spear give it at least a bit more damage?
