View Full Version : Order of installation for the "full" experience is confusing the hell out of me

Hey guys. Been a few years since I played BG2 so I figured I'd give it another go. I never got to play the original so I'd like to start with the first game and then keep the same character for SoA and ToB.

For BG2, I used to play with the baldurdash fixes and tweaks, but now it seems like there's so many more options. Here's what I'd like to do:

-Get all the high quality mods for BG1 and BG2 (Darkest Day, Ascension, etc.)
-Install the dialogue and game fixes and tweaks (Seems like Gibberlings is the way to go)
-Install TuTu or BGT to play BG1 on the BG2 engine
-Not make my game explode in the process

How do I proceed in doing this without breaking the game?

There is a really good thread on the G3 forums about install order for Tutu games. Unfortunately, thoses boards seem to be down at the moment.

For non-tutu BG2 games:

First off, read each mod's readme for installation instructions. In the absence of instructions on ordering, here's the general order:

Install these first (in order):
SOA
TOB
Official Patch
Non-weidu mods
Baldurdash or G3's BG2 Fixpack (I prefer the latter).

SCS II should be installed last (if you plan on installing it).
BG2 Tweak Pack should be second last.
Level One NPC's should be installed after any mod which adds kits, so that the Level One mod will recognize them.

All other mods should be installed somewhere in between.

Is it ok to install all those and THEN make a TuTu OR BGT installation?

Also, would you recommend going with TuTu or EasyTutu? The latter seems pretty idiot proof, so is it ok?

Ok, about to install, so just to be clear:

1. Install BG + Exp., BG2 + Exp, and patch those up
2. Install BG2 Fixpack / BG1 NPC addon
3. Install Weidu mods THEN BG2Tweaks
4. Run EasyTuTu
5. Install Tutufix v.18

Is this correct or am I an idiot?

EDIT: Also, I intend to run the game at 1920x1200 resolution. Any chance of explosions there or is it safe?

After you patch BG1 and BG2 then you install EasyTutu before doing all the Weidu stuff and fix packs.

I'd always advise Easy Tutu over Tutu- makes things easy (funnily enough).

Get all the high quality mods for BG1 and BG2 (Darkest Day, Ascension, etc.)

Why have you put 'high quality mods' and 'Darkest Day' in the same sentence?

I'd assume it was for comedic purposes, but you seem worrying serious.
