hi
I'm new here and I dont know if this is the right board, but im quite desperate now. i played BGII + TOB several times, and I removed it not really "successfully" from my computer a few months ago. when i try to reinstall it, the uninstallation prog. pops up and uninstalls it tho i dont even have it on my computer no more. and thats only if I try to install it by the windows add program bull****, if i try to let autoplay install the cd by itself then suddenly the baldur doubleheads appear and its suddenly all written in english (i have a german version) and it only says "play", not "install" like it should.

i really really really would appreciate any help, thx a lot

Is the program still listed in the Windows Control Panel: Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs? You may be able to uninstall it from here.

The program must still be registered in the Windows Registry but I don't recommend editing the registry manually unless everything else fails.

Use a software which cleans "registry" and run it; don't touch the registry manually, there are softwares which can do it safely.

Make sure ":\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\" no longer exists in your directory. Then, you could regedit, CTRL+F "BGII" and clean up all that junk. That SHOULD remedy your problem.

sorry but i have to hijack this thread. looks like the OP got his/hers fixed.

i've uninstalled the game via the normal files for the game. i then did the "add/remove" deal. i then erased the folders manually to get rid of whatever was left.
then i ran "regedit" and hit CTRL+F "BGII" and cleaned up all that junk.

so now i have a clean registry and all the folders are gone.
problem? i still get the "PLAY" option. the game isn't installed. when i try to "PLAY" i get a message saying that since it's the first time running the game since installation it is going to configure it. so i click "OK" but then nothing happens. nothing should. it's not installed therefore it can't run therefore it can't configure.
so what else can i try? oh yea. i uninstalled BGtutu and even BG as well just in case.
any ideas?

Try running the setup manually from the CD rather than using the autoplay. I used to have that problem a while back, and didn't notice any adverse effects from installing in this way.
