Can someone explain how this works? I didn't see anything about this in the manual, but I may have missed something. According to Wikipedia the Favored Soul and the Spirit Shaman will advance in skill with their deity's favored weapon as they level, but it doesn't offer much more detail than that. Also, what about regular Clerics and Druids? What about Rangers or Paladins? If I pick a Ranger with Gearwuv...er whatever Windstorm, who has Greatsword as his favored weapon, what do I get as the bonus and when?
In short: whuddup with that? Thanks a pantload.

It's been a while since I last played, but I don't remember the Spirit Shaman gaining weapon feats from deity's favored weapon. I don't think it affects Clerics, Druids, Rangers or Paladins either.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think that Deity's favored weapon is a Favored Soul thing only.
(I could be wrong, since I don't have the game installed, so this is more or less from memory.)
EDIT: I did some googling: According to GameBanshee, Favoured Souls should get a weapon proficiency at level 1, weapon focus at level 3 and weapon specialisation feat at level 12, in their deity's favoured weapon.

Makes no sense for spirit shamans to have this anyway, they don't serve a deity to begin with.

Clerics with the war domain gain weaponfocus in diety's favored weapon and are able to use it even if they don't have the feat for it, for instance a Cleric of Kelemvor with war domain will be able to use bastard swords without having neither martial or exotic weapon profency.
Favoured souls gain weapon focus in diety's favored weapon much like a cleric with war domain.
other then that, the diety's favorite weapon is a flavor thing.
