View Full Version : Expansion packs 2 - I think I've buggered it!
Silvery Tue, 6th Jan '09, 12:29pm I guess I could have stuck this on my last thread but I'm not sure...
Anyways, I loaded in the 2 NWN expansions that I have and attempted to play. Every time I started up the game I got a message asking for the CDs. After doing the update and getting the new patches, I was able to play the game. However, after closing down the game and then going back to it later, the game just refused to load!
I've taken off the packs for now but I really want to give them a try. Does anybody know how I fix it?

Uninstall the game. Install the game with NWN, SoU, and than HotU. After you install all three than patch the game up to 1.69. Once you patch the game up to 1.69 you will no longer need a CD to play the game.

Oops...that didn't work. I've uninstalled the game but now I can't re-install it. Every time I put the 1st disk in, I get asked for the play disk...

Hmmm...Is your disk scratched? Make sure you also uninstall all of the modules; on my system each module was a different uninstall icon.
olimikrig Thu, 8th Jan '09, 9:30am Hmmm sounds like this might be a registry problem. as in the registry entries for the game wasn't erased popper and your computer still thinks that NWN is installed?
You could try and manually uninstall the game by following these steps:
1.04: How do I manually uninstall Neverwinter Nights? (Back to Top)

At this point, there should be no traces of the game on the system.

Silvery Thu, 8th Jan '09, 12:36pm Oh dear, that sounds complicated!
olimikrig Thu, 8th Jan '09, 1:25pm It's rather simple actually just open regedit (perform a search, I cannot remember where it's located) and you should see a list of 'folders' called something like:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
etc.
Within each of these folders there are subfolders. within the 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' find the subfolder called 'Microsoft', and within that one called 'Windows', etc. Continue opening the subfolders listed until you're within the uninstall folder and there find the listing '{A4C10EEF-D26C-410D-82E7-73370C6FD812}' and erase it.
Silvery Thu, 8th Jan '09, 2:38pm That long doo-dah isn't listed in there. The disk isn't scratched either. Computers just don't like me!
olimikrig Thu, 8th Jan '09, 4:33pm You sure none of the registry entries are listed there? They differ depending on which NWN version you use (platinum edition, gold edition, regular - re-read the howto carefully :p). if not I find it's kind of weird that your computer would still think that you have the game installed and ask for the play disc .
Silvery Thu, 8th Jan '09, 4:39pm I really suck at this kind of thing...I'll keep looking, I just worry about getting it wrong and screwing up the whole machine
olimikrig Thu, 8th Jan '09, 5:23pm It's wise to be cautious, you definitely don't want to erase a wrong registry entry as that could have pretty bad effects on your computers health.

Try this it might just work...
Go into the Uninstall/Install section under Setup. Once there place the CD in the drive. There should be a button to install the game, click the install button and that should fix everything.
Silvery Fri, 30th Jan '09, 8:34pm I'll give it a whirl honey, thanky xx
