View Full Version : Shapeshifters
Zephyr Angel Mon, 25th Apr '05, 7:25am Who do you guys think i shoud bring along for the ride if my PC is a druid shapshifter?
Honestly i think that the shapeshifter is definitely a good killer class that is not given enough recognition. Even in the normal Werewolf form, the it could take down a pesky vampire or two before going down. At Level 9!
With a natural +3 weapon in the form of claws. The Werewolf form is the best melee creature in the start of the game.
uglijimus Mon, 25th Apr '05, 8:03am according to most, the werewolf doesn't have +3 weapons for claws. in fact i believe the werewolf has +1 and the greaterwerewolf (which you'll get at lvl 13) has +2 but was supposed to have +3. apparantly he got jipped on other features as well, but I'm playing at level 13 now in chapter 3 and haven't come across any problems yet. You may need patches later to fix these shortcomings....anyway, I have Jaheira, Minsk, Yoshimo, Anomen, Eari (sorry i don't know her name in english, i'm playing the japanese version of the game) and we seem to be doing ok. As soon as I rescue Imoen though, Anomen's getting the boot! (^_^)
Chickavalier Tue, 26th Apr '05, 1:26pm Aerie, probably.
Marcus_Giden Tue, 26th Apr '05, 3:04pm I'm actually starting a Shapeshifter right now too. I will bring Minsc, Haer Dalis, Aerie, Yoshimo and Valygar.
Cúchulainn Tue, 26th Apr '05, 3:08pm Has anyone tried the shapshifter re-balancing mod? If its good I will give this kit another go.
Marcus_Giden Tue, 26th Apr '05, 5:54pm @Cesard : No, what does it do?
JSBB Tue, 26th Apr '05, 6:14pm Shapeshifter re-balancing boosts the power of the werewolf forms to the point of silliness, allows you to cast spells as a werewolf, gives you equipable claws that trigger your wolf form, reclassify some cleric only spells as cleric-druid spells, boosts the conjure animal spells' summons to being absurdly powerful etc.
If you want a cheesily easy game, go right ahead and use it. Personally, I got bored with it really quickly.
uglijimus Wed, 27th Apr '05, 3:02am you're talking about Weimer's right? I used the not so powerful one which is over at forgotten realms? worlds? or something like that, that was supposed to be an answer to Weimer's overpowered kit. unfortunately this one as well, was way too overpowered. I had everyone in my group attack my werewolf at once (including minsc) and they could barely damage him (his regeneration was like 10hp/sec.
Zephyr Angel Wed, 27th Apr '05, 3:55am Are you guys sure it is not a +3?
I mean, as a shapeshifter, I could still hit a vampire, which would require at least a +2 weapon or more to hit.
I currently have Korgan, Jaheira , Anomen, Edwin and Viconia in my party, not a problem at all.
Ruin Ehwazehs Wed, 27th Apr '05, 4:07am I can't find anything about shapeshifter in the forgotten wars. But anyway with shapeshifter rebalancing in the Ease of Use mod, it IS ludicrously powerful. After getting greater wearwolf shifting (umm...shifting?) only with haste, not the improved one, he just charges to the enemy and wipes them out so easily. I'd suggest if you're using shapeshifter (or Cernd) don't ever install rebalancing mod......well, after finish the game without the mod, than it's your choice

xa it is one of the class that is so easy to play with ...
(btw I am in chapter II and playing only by midnight So i can chop chop chop down vampires and shadow thiefs /i kill only the one that atack me :) / )
and in later leves the shapeshifter is so good that a demon will strike him down ...
In one-one tha shapshifter don't have a chance even fighting with sorseror ...
uglijimus Wed, 27th Apr '05, 6:08am @zephyr angel,
I'm not sure, I haven't had any problems with him yet and I'm at level 13?14? anyway, if you do a search for some posts ( i think it's here)you'll see some people saying that their werewolf couldn't even hit certain monsters later on in the game. who knows. just have to wait and see.
@Ruin Ehwazehs

Chickavalier Wed, 27th Apr '05, 1:36pm Are werewolfs immune to level drain?
Misantrophe Wed, 27th Apr '05, 1:56pm I tried Cernd? for a while and he wasn't regenerating and I kicked him out. He made me hate shapeshifters
Zephyr Angel Wed, 27th Apr '05, 4:07pm @Chickavalier: You're name sounds awfully like someone i am familiar with. And no. they are not immune...sadly...
Stu Thu, 28th Apr '05, 8:46am No, Warewolves are not immune to level drain - not even with the Weimer mod - still a lvl 3 Greater warewolf kicks ass!!!
Chickavalier Thu, 28th Apr '05, 8:51am @Zephyr Angel:
Who would that be?
Stu Sat, 30th Apr '05, 9:42am Chevalier
Haven't seen him around recently though.
Chickavalier Sun, 1st May '05, 9:38am The News Staff or so?
Beren Sun, 1st May '05, 9:52am On the topic of Shapeshifters please.
Faraaz Mon, 2nd May '05, 4:45am Shapeshifters are awful, even WITH the Shapeshifter rebalancing mod...but then I hate druids anyway, so I think that could have something to do with that...I'd recommend taking a Fighter/Druid along if you want. More offensive power! :)
Goli Ironhead Mon, 2nd May '05, 7:10am I rather like it :D
