The Magister Sat, 2nd May '09, 6:35am Speaking of chatroom, it seems to have quieted a lot... come on people, get things moving again! The FAI needs YOU!
I don't bother with the chat room. I can never get the timezones right
Stefanina Sat, 2nd May '09, 7:53am I once again have screamingly red hair.
Ragusa Sat, 2nd May '09, 2:13pm Last week I saw a guy with blue hair. I wonder, if you and he had children, would their hair be lilac? Who knows, maybe with such irregular colours the theory of colours applies and not Mendel's laws. Interesting thesis for a bachelor in nonsense.
Kitrax Sat, 2nd May '09, 4:20pm Don't worry, DoTW, that kind of stupidity usually punishes itself in the end. ;)
Perhaps, but it usually breeds first. :bang:
Loreseeker Sat, 2nd May '09, 11:33pm Another weekend almost done.
*awaits the "oh, no, Sunday afternoon" feeling*

Hehe, more of a dark purple, depending on what shade of blue his hair is.
ChickenIsGood Sun, 3rd May '09, 8:47am I just convinced a Korean girl that I was 1/4 Cambodian... Not so funny until you see how pale I am, and the fact is that I'm about 100% English descent.
The best part was that after 'learning' I was Cambodian she was like, "Well you do look a little Chinese or Vietnamese."

I work with dozens of Asians...most of them are either from Vietnam or Laos...and 95% of them are actually pretty cool. So to mess with them, I tell them they need to start including me when they have a pot-luck every month since I'm half Laotamese and half Germaglish.
For some reason, it hasn't worked...
Saber Sun, 3rd May '09, 8:10pm Oops. I was supposed to wake up at 11 am... I woke up 15 minutes ago.
ChickenIsGood Mon, 4th May '09, 3:56am @Saber- I am in the pacific time zone, so the time-stamp on your post says 11:10... Was kind of confused for a bit at why waking up 15 minutes ago rather than at 11 was such a bad thing :D
I work with dozens of Asians...most of them are either from Vietnam or Laos...and 95% of them are actually pretty cool.
Yeah, at school I hang out with Asians mostly, lots of Filipinos and Koreans... Washington has a crazy high Asian population it seems.
The Magister Mon, 4th May '09, 5:07am Oops. I was supposed to wake up at 11 am... I woke up 15 minutes ago.
I was suppost to wake up at 9:30am
It's now 12 :D
Dave the Magic Turtle Mon, 4th May '09, 5:31am I was supposed to go to sleep at 12pm its now 4.30am :p damn this 3D work :(
The Magister Mon, 4th May '09, 5:51am I was supposed to go to sleep at 12am its now 4.30am :p damn this 3D work :(
Fixed :D
Kitrax Mon, 4th May '09, 11:56am Well...add another nail to the IE8 coffin. We use MSN Explorer...don't ask why... Anyway, all over the MSN front-page, there was this big ad to get IE8. So since I just reformatted, I figured I'd get the latest of all my software, so I downloaded and installed it. Ever since then, MSN has been acting really weird. So I shot tech support an email. Turns out MSN Explorer isn't compatible with IE8, and that MS is moving away from the software...and he gave me several links to Windows Live One Care...to purchase. Yeah, no thanks.
I don't really care which browser I use, as long as it works...but the wife like MSN, so it looks like I'm going to be rolling back to IE7.
Dave the Magic Turtle Mon, 4th May '09, 12:31pm Fixed :D
I know what I meant ;)
Balle Mon, 4th May '09, 2:24pm i hate google chrome! a lot of stuff doesnt work in it and the gui is a pain to use!
ION i tried to get out of the public church today, turns out i have to find a small office somewhere far from me, and it cannot be done by snail mail
Silvery Mon, 4th May '09, 3:24pm What's wrong with going to church?
T2Bruno Mon, 4th May '09, 3:49pm ...other than the burning sensation?
Saber Mon, 4th May '09, 7:27pm Hahahaha nice T2.
I actually feel uncomfortable in churches, temples, etc. Not sure why, they just make me feel... weird, in an unpleasant way.
Maybe that's the burning sensation you're talking about T2?
T2Bruno Mon, 4th May '09, 7:53pm I was mainly referring to the old myth of vampires burning if they came in contact with anything holy -- which sounds a lot like your issues....:D
The last time I went to church was with my parents nearly twenty years ago. I was being introduced by my step-mother when the woman looked at me in surprise, "Oh you're that son." My step-mother was mortified and I laughed in the woman's face.
So for me it's a combination of the vampire thing and 'eyes buring a hole though you' from the things my family says about me (and convincing the other members I'm thoroughly evil).
Blades of Vanatar Mon, 4th May '09, 7:57pm Even with not having one religous bone in my body, i wonder what it would be like to walk into a temple on Fearun or Krynn, where the gods are real..:kneel:
Loreseeker Mon, 4th May '09, 8:00pm I guess I extremely rarely go to church too. Almost never. My brother jests about it.
Headache. Probably typing incoherently. Will try again.
Susipaisti Mon, 4th May '09, 10:05pm AAAIIEEEE!! Nyarl...thong! Fungus!
Saber Mon, 4th May '09, 10:08pm Giving Diablo 2 a spin for the first time in forever right now... although I am having a few problems (probably from running it on Vista x64)
Dave the Magic Turtle Mon, 4th May '09, 11:01pm Diablo 2 can be great fun, I got a bit addicted to it last year along with some friends from Steam. The Multiplayer is fun especially when you have a Skype call or something set up so you can chat about random stuff as you kill :D
Apart from finishing my 3D work, I have started a campaign setting project and organised some work for the summer...success :)
The Magister Tue, 5th May '09, 1:24am Another reason to hate Australian internet: Our upload speed is so slow that instead of uploading my songs to an FTP server, I was asked to move them all onto a USB and send them off through the mail...
Yeh...it's that bad. :(
Ofelix Tue, 5th May '09, 2:37am I don't have anything to say but I still want to contribute to BOM. So....huum, oh I know, there's a really cute girl at work.
Loreseeker Tue, 5th May '09, 9:00am *hugs her nebulizer*
I should be in bed, grumpy, tired and miserable from wheezing and lack of sleep (dusting had a few things to do with it :p ) - instead, I'm running on salty mists of fenoterol. Yay. :)
Silvery Tue, 5th May '09, 9:26am OW! I just got face cream in my eye!
Kitrax Tue, 5th May '09, 9:31am Another reason to hate Australian internet: Our upload speed is so slow that instead of uploading my songs to an FTP server, I was asked to move them all onto a USB and send them off through the mail...
Yeh...it's that bad. :(
Well...what do you expect? According to this 2007 map (http://www1.alcatel-lucent.com/submarine/refs/World_Map_2007_LR.pdf), AU only has a total of 7 transoceanic cables connecting the country to the rest of the world... But don't worry, there are apparently 2 more under construction...that's almost a 30% increase! :p
Silvery Tue, 5th May '09, 9:32am We could do with a Technology RBP. I have no idea what a transoceanic cable is  !
Kitrax Tue, 5th May '09, 9:41am We could do with a Technology RBP. I have no idea what a transoceanic cable is  !
A transoceanic cable is a communications cable (usually fiber optic) that is laid on the bottom of the ocean that connects distant places to each other... Take a look at the map I linked to...where do you think those cables marked on the map are? They're certainly not floating in mid-air via colorful balloons, no matter how awesome that would be. :p
The Magister Tue, 5th May '09, 12:00pm That's nice...except the speed I described was to a server INSIDE the country :(
Kitrax Tue, 5th May '09, 3:12pm That's nice...except the speed I described was to a server INSIDE the country :(
Well, then I guess you're just screwed. :p
In other news, I just beat my wife's score on Bejeweled on our BB's! It took over two weeks, but I not only beat her score, I crushed it!
This victory feels especially sweet, because for the past week or so, she has been rubbing it in my face. -_-
Ziad Tue, 5th May '09, 7:54pm I don't have anything to say but I still want to contribute to BOM.
When has that stopped anyone in RBP? :p
I should be in bed, grumpy, tired and miserable from wheezing and lack of sleep (dusting had a few things to do with it :p ) - instead, I'm running on salty mists of fenoterol. Yay. :)
Fenoterol is... nasty, in large doses. Don't overdo it with that thing. Take just enough to keep the mists :p
Loreseeker Wed, 6th May '09, 8:19am Fenoterol is... nasty, in large doses. Don't overdo it with that thing. Take just enough to keep the mists :p
Oh, I know, been on it for a while now, don't worry. :) When I first started therapy with it it took me a few nights to sort out palpitations and hand tremors - but self adjusting the dosage into little "sips" helped. ;)
(brought to you by Soon to be a Pharmacist perk, level 0 :p)
ION, I'm to work for fifteen days in a pharmacy this summer. *panics*
Silvery Wed, 6th May '09, 10:15am Don't panic!! You'll need your nebby again!!
I think I may overuse exclamation marks!!!!!!
Kitrax Wed, 6th May '09, 12:16pm So I could use a little math help, because I've forgotten all my trig. :bad:
I'm making a UV exposure box...using LEDs which have a 15° viewing angle, and I need some formula to calculate how big the beam will be at ~3 inches, so I can properly space the LEDs.
Silvery Wed, 6th May '09, 12:29pm Try this matey: http://www.power-sure.com/lumens.htm
Kitrax Wed, 6th May '09, 2:46pm Well..that was little help. I suck at math.
I found S=2(pie)Rh
S=Surface area, R=Radius, h=height
That's great...just one problem, I only know the viewing angle, and the height. So that formula doesn't help me at all. :bad:
Never mind, I found an old protractor, and drew some lines....screw math...my way works, and I can actually see the end result.
Silvery Wed, 6th May '09, 2:57pm Sorry it didn't help babes
Montresor Wed, 6th May '09, 3:09pm I assume you want to know how big an area the beam covers if it spreads out from a point source (the LED) at a 15° angle.
The tangent to 15° is 0.26794919243112270647255365849413, so at 3" the beam should cover a circle with a diameter of 0.804".
Hope that helps. Otherwise, there's the brute force approach: take a bunch of LEDs and experiment to see how close they need to be! :)
Silvery Wed, 6th May '09, 3:10pm Smarty pants :p
Kitrax Wed, 6th May '09, 4:55pm I assume you want to know how big an area the beam covers if it spreads out from a point source (the LED) at a 15° angle.

According to my protractor, our answers are just about the same. :D Actually...that sucks, because each LED is $15, and I need them of fill the area of 11x17. :bad:
But how did you get 0.267......413? When I hit TAN 15 on my calculator, I get -.85599.....
And as for experimenting with them, the LEDs in question are high intensity UV LEDs (350nm)...I don't know about you, but I'd rather *not* look at them when they're on, presuming that you'd actually be able to see the light coming off them. :p
Balle Wed, 6th May '09, 4:59pm you got it in rads kit?
and no, you probably will not see it, i think it only goes down to about 400 nm
dmc Wed, 6th May '09, 5:00pm Kit - http://www.ajdesigner.com/phptrigonometry/trigonometry_tan_tangent_equation.php
Plug in 15 and you get the right answer -- no idea what is wrong with your calculator.
Edit:
Kit was using radians on his calculator.
Balle Wed, 6th May '09, 5:05pm i knew it!
Blackthorne TA Wed, 6th May '09, 5:07pm Here (http://www.pcbfx.com/) is the solution to your problem Kit... forget about UV exposure altogether! :)
Montresor Wed, 6th May '09, 5:52pm But how did you get 0.267......413? When I hit TAN 15 on my calculator, I get -.85599.....
I think your calculator uses radians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radians), not degrees.
And as for experimenting with them, the LEDs in question are high intensity UV LEDs (350nm)...I don't know about you, but I'd rather *not* look at them when they're on, presuming that you'd actually be able to see the light coming off them. :p
Hmm, I see your point... even if I can't see UV. :heh:
8people Wed, 6th May '09, 5:53pm I love larping. I wish I didn't come home :(
Silvery Wed, 6th May '09, 6:04pm I'm on a quest to find my favourite coffee. Gone through all the Nescafe ones and I'm onto Kenco now
Dave the Magic Turtle Wed, 6th May '09, 6:09pm @8 But then you'd be facing death every moment for the rest of your life! Stuck in a fantasy world that you do not belong in! D: Plus you wouldn't be able to babble randomly :p
Our group for concept development started off amazing....now we all just hate one member of our group, he makes everything an uphill struggle, plus his ego is bigger than the sun :( oh well our idea still rocks!
Kitrax Wed, 6th May '09, 6:11pm Here (http://www.pcbfx.com/) is the solution to your problem Kit... forget about UV exposure altogether! :)
What the? But...but...how? :jawdrop:
The geekiness of having one's own PCB setup has been soiled.... :wail:
As for my calc, the closest one to me was my ti83 plus...I have no idea how to use it, and seeing as how the manual is bigger than the actual calculator, I doubt I ever will. :bad:
8people Wed, 6th May '09, 7:57pm @ the Turtley One
I'm a non combatent :( I got so frustrated being stuck in my wheelchair having to sit and just watch, completely useless.
Dave the Magic Turtle Wed, 6th May '09, 8:57pm @ the 8-ey one
Ah but yours is a war of words, truly deadly is the warrior of wit who wields words that can cut deeper than any knife ;) you just have to play a talkative non-combatant...a diplomat, lady of the court, a queen etc...simply make words your weapon and lay the smack down! :D
Silvery Wed, 6th May '09, 8:59pm The pen is mightier than the sword...and more readily avaliable!
T2Bruno Wed, 6th May '09, 9:11pm "The pen is mightier than the sword" was coined by a writer -- I've never heard a military person (or any warrior-type person) make such a comparison.
A pen may be mightier, but an AK-47 tends to end the argument faster.
8people Wed, 6th May '09, 9:47pm I have currently been dubbed 'The lady of the alchemists guild' and that's just after my first event, also got a position of power in a clan and a guild and have made friends in a faction. I went monstering as a talking NPC and was incredibly shy as one of the guys we had to talk to had been making fun of my moments beforehand :o
Dave the Magic Turtle Wed, 6th May '09, 11:51pm "The pen is mightier than the sword" was coined by a writer -- I've never heard a military person (or any warrior-type person) make such a comparison.
A pen may be mightier, but an AK-47 tends to end the argument faster.
A pen is alot easier to conceal and just as deadly when jabbed into someones eye ;)
Lady of the Alchemists Guild sounds like a character I'd want to play...except a man version...cos I'm a man lol :p I think eccentric and forgetful would be my key themes...can I come play? :shake:
8people Thu, 7th May '09, 12:07am Look up the Lorien Trust :)
I'll be the stripey haired chick in the spazz wagon. wearing a black and red sash with a blue bottle on it :p
Dave the Magic Turtle Thu, 7th May '09, 12:45am Heh its a bit out of the way I think about slap bang in the between home and where I go to uni at opposite ends of the country lol :p
You should come up with some ingenious invention that turns your "spazz wagon" into a deadly chariot...perhaps attach a horse and mount boudica chariot blades to the wheels :D then just stock up on explosive potions and go a-killin'
Ragusa Thu, 7th May '09, 12:50am "The pen is mightier than the sword" was coined by a writer -- I've never heard a military person (or any warrior-type person) make such a comparison.
A pen may be mightier, but an AK-47 tends to end the argument faster. An AK47 also gives you a degree of reach that pens lack.
Susipaisti Thu, 7th May '09, 1:30am You can probably guess what I keep reading "pens" and "pen is" as. It makes this whole discussion seem pretty hilarious.
Or maybe it says something about me. Something deep. Something intimate.
Oh crap.
Disciple of The Watch Thu, 7th May '09, 1:32am My neighbor just went to return his mountain of empty bottles. When you can buy an extra large pizza, family sized fries and a 2L of Pepsi with the cashback of the beer you drank in three days... maybe, just maybe, there's a problem.
Ziad Thu, 7th May '09, 1:59am "The pen is mightier than the sword" was coined by a writer -- I've never heard a military person (or any warrior-type person) make such a comparison.
Wasn't there a movie where someone kills someone else with a pen then uses the expression? For some reason I'm picturing Jack Nicholson.
ION, I'm to work for fifteen days in a pharmacy this summer. *panics*
Think on the bright side: unlimited Fenoterol supplies! :shake:
T2Bruno Thu, 7th May '09, 2:11am That would have been Batman with Jack as the Joker.
Ziad Thu, 7th May '09, 3:55am Now I remember: he stabs someone and kills him with a pen just before saying it
As much as I love Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, Jack's rendition will always hold a special place.
Saber Thu, 7th May '09, 4:10am Decided not to take my last exam (it was optional and won't hurt my grade if I don't), so... I am done! Wooot!
ChickenIsGood Thu, 7th May '09, 5:14am I had nothing today and nothing tomorrow before a relatively easy final on Friday, and work starting Saturday... So I decided these two days would be my summer vacation. Woke up at noon, Margaritas at 1:30, nap at 6.
Great day so far :D
Loreseeker Thu, 7th May '09, 8:57am I'd take a sword over a pen. Pens with corrosive/toxic ink charges are just too scary :p (though the HF ones would write lovely on glass I hear...)
RP this weekend, RP this weekend, RP this weekend... there, I made my wish.
Silvery Thu, 7th May '09, 9:11am Years ago, before I knew that people did RP games outdoors, a friend of mine and her husband asked me if I wanted to join them in their Role Play Game. The husband was a bit of a perv and I really thought that they meant something kinky!
Montresor Thu, 7th May '09, 1:54pm I just learned (not that I *needed* to be told) that a printer accepts a new ink cartridge *much* better if you push it *all* the way down before closing the printer and trying to complete the change...
:o  <---- me
Balle Thu, 7th May '09, 4:00pm my body loves me for eating right now, sending out a lot happy chemicals in my brain right now!!!
eating is one of the things i enjoy most in the world
The Magister Thu, 7th May '09, 4:43pm Oh god I'm capped. 56k I didn't miss you in the least :(
Kitrax Thu, 7th May '09, 6:15pm My neighbor just went to return his mountain of empty bottles. When you can buy an extra large pizza, family sized fries and a 2L of Pepsi with the cashback of the beer you drank in three days... maybe, just maybe, there's a problem.
I'd say there is! What a selfish b***ard! :p
8people Thu, 7th May '09, 6:42pm I need more practice with contact lenses it seems :xx:
Silvery Thu, 7th May '09, 8:04pm Fake nails and large amounts of vodka don't work well with contacts.
T2Bruno Thu, 7th May '09, 8:40pm I thought large amounts of vodka worked with everything....
Silvery Thu, 7th May '09, 8:46pm You'd be amazed
Blades of Vanatar Thu, 7th May '09, 9:39pm The vodka doesn't work with everything, but it makes everything feel better... then it makes everything stop working!:p
Saber Thu, 7th May '09, 10:02pm Going home today... finally!
Ragusa Thu, 7th May '09, 10:29pm I can't help but to frequently misread 'random babbling' as 'spamdom rambling'. Weird.
8people Thu, 7th May '09, 10:40pm So I'm apparently officially in a relationship, much to many mutual friends confusion
Balle Fri, 8th May '09, 12:08am yea, i just figured out i got a girlfriend.. i thought we were just foolin' 'round
8people Fri, 8th May '09, 12:42am We were just keeping it quiet in case we offended his ex, but apparently that doesn't matter any more :)
We're currently discussing hot women and debating whether one of our friends is straight or bi. Apparently I have to ask her though :( Now to figure out how to word it :xx:
T2Bruno Fri, 8th May '09, 2:54am Some things are better left unasked. She may take any question as a ... query into future possibilites between the two of you. If that's your intention then go for it, but otherwise....
Dave the Magic Turtle Fri, 8th May '09, 3:13am Just go up to her and say "excuse me, but do fancy men?" its always the first thing I ask when I chat up a girl :p
Just a note: I've never had to chat up a girl I just kinda fell into my relationship by inviting her over to watch films that I hadn't seen (mainly cos I liked her :D), we were together for 3 months before starting uni and having to make a long distance relationship work...which it has :)
ION Today I have been doing concept development...its a group project and there are 4 of us, let me list the jobs and their dispersion among the members:
Animatic (A rough animation of camera movements and actions [basically an animated story board]) was done by one guy and took 6 months when it should have taken a week or two, and its a bit rubbish, considering this guy is a good animator.
Story boards and character designs done by another guy, only just got these and the hand in is well today (Friday). They are done to a high standard but it just took so long to get them.
Script writing, colouring, minutes of meetings, writing the documentation (Premise, Treatment, Overview, ideas, old script drafts etc), Background concept art, Prop designs, mood boards, printing and binding was done by me and the one other guy in the group...
I'm no genius but that kinda sounds a bit unbalanced to me...This document when put together will be 70 - 100 pages long maybe more. I'm pretty 90% of the finished product will be mine and the guy who helped me....atleast we get to hand in a peer review sheet to tell the truth about what went on :)
This should probably be in work venting post but I've written it here now and its done lol
babble babble
8people Fri, 8th May '09, 3:59am She's a right flirt, question is more if she's genuine or doin it to get even more male attention. She's stunning though, so she doesn't exactly have to work for it.
Got her number within an hour of meeting her to many jealous guys though :D Will have to keep in touch *fingers crossed*
Kitrax Fri, 8th May '09, 6:43am She's a right flirt, question is more if she's genuine or doin it to get even more male attention. She's stunning though, so she doesn't exactly have to work for it.

Send her my way, I'll get to the bottom of this mistery! However, if she's as stunning as you claim, she might not make it back to the UK...
Silvery Fri, 8th May '09, 9:12am Try saying that somebody told you she was bi and it got you wondering
Saber Fri, 8th May '09, 9:18am Send her my way, I'll get to the bottom of this mistery!
Tsk Tsk Kit, it would be inconsiderate of 8 to send her all the way out to cold Utah; it would be much nicer to send her over her to Boston. I will take care of the investigation here :p
Silvery Fri, 8th May '09, 9:21am Bugger that, send her up north 8! I'll sort her out and it save on the airfair
Disciple of The Watch Fri, 8th May '09, 9:30am I put XMMS on random, and it played Brujeria's death metal remix of the Macarena as I lighted up an ecologic cigar earlier. Interesting timing. The Men in Blue also felt the need to waste my time as I returned home from work... they appearantly got a complaint saying that I look suspicious. Gee, was it the black hoodie, black cargo and Rangers or the foul mood (After all, I am the most miserable son of a ***** on the planet, according to someone I won't name) that gave me away?
ION, I whipped out some old Brujeria albums, and I had forgotten how much it kicked ass. Spanish Death Metal FTW!
8people Fri, 8th May '09, 11:43am Am seeing her in a couple of weeks at another larp event, thank you for all the kind offers to assist, but with such arduous task I'm afraid I simply can't burden you all with such responsibility :D
Need to complete all my uni work today - final deadlines are this Friday and next Friday. EEEP!
*panics*
I wish I had exams instead of portfolio work! I find it much easier to take an exam to express what I know rather than write about work I was absent for and nobody explained to me! :( I've had a really bad year for attendance since my shoulders started dislocating in January. I'm rather panicky about passing the year or not
Deathmage Fri, 8th May '09, 1:40pm Reading RBP backwards while sleepy made me temporarily believe that 8 had entered a bisexual relationship. Oh well, moving on.
8people Fri, 8th May '09, 1:47pm Nope, hence the fingers are still crossed :p
Seriously, hardcore homophobes could use her as an argument being gay is a choice just by letting her stroll past a group of homosexual men.
ChickenIsGood Fri, 8th May '09, 1:58pm I don't know what is going on. I woke up at 11 today (with 5 hours of sleep) and was dead tired at 11pm. Went to bed, woke up at 1am and tried to go back to sleep... no dice for two hours so I gave up and drank a 6 hour energy drink. Hopefully when it is done with my fatigue will catch up with me.
Dave the Magic Turtle Fri, 8th May '09, 2:25pm Well the project is handed in and after 24 hours of awakeness and work with very little in the way of breaks I think I am ready for bed...
My stomach aches from not eating properly the past few days and my head keeps hurting in a weird way...stabbing pains at random points on my skull...probably just tired :(
Silvery Fri, 8th May '09, 4:15pm I really want to cry and I don't know why! It's annoying

Dave the Magic Turtle Fri, 8th May '09, 8:03pm I could give you a reason if you want? :p Emotions are strange things...
just had a nice 5 hour nap about what I need after being awake 24 hours....enough to feel better but not enough to ruin my body clock...probably helps its still daylight too.
Saber Fri, 8th May '09, 8:15pm Pandemic 2 is a lot of fun :)
Ragusa Fri, 8th May '09, 9:34pm  I had two pints of Maibock Bockbier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bockbier) and I am drunk. Powerful stuff that. It is always like that. I will have a third, and then I'll want to go to bed. Sounds like a sound plan.
PS: I installed Win 7 RC 64bit instead of the dreadful Vista Home Premium 64bit. Good riddance, crap-OS!
8people Fri, 8th May '09, 9:42pm She's bi, score :)
Been watching Sims 3 trailers. It looks so cool and interesting, yet so terribly different from Sims 2 I'm not sure which I'll prefer!
Silvery Fri, 8th May '09, 10:06pm Lucky lucky 8!
Ragusa Fri, 8th May '09, 11:02pm Wee, I screwed up my boot sequence with Vista Boot Pro 3.3 ... I think I now fixed it. Silly that.

I need to stop reading Sims hype when I don't have a PC that runs it
ChickenIsGood Sat, 9th May '09, 12:48am Done with school for a few months. Work will commence immediately.
Stefanina Sat, 9th May '09, 2:20am I'm giving Mom her Mother's Day present on Saturday. I'm taking her to the new Star Trek movie in the St Augustine IMAX theatre. Im taking her to dinner after the movie, but she hasn't decided where to go yet.

8people Sat, 9th May '09, 6:29am Do we really want it to be elaborated upon?
Deathmage Sat, 9th May '09, 6:30am A quick Google later, I suspect not.
Decados Sat, 9th May '09, 11:33am 'Twas my birthday yesterday and was definitely one of the quietest I've had yet. I think I slept through most of it and then finished off by playing badminton. Still, not really complaining. Though I think I'm still in shock at the concept of being two decades old.
Probably won't get any easier later in life.
Just go up to her and say "excuse me, but do fancy men?" its always the first thing I ask when I chat up a girl
Perhaps most importantly, did it work?
She's bi, score :)

Well I'm two and one tenth decades old...that makes me over a fifth of a cetury old so listen to your elder when he tells you its all down hill from here :shake:
Also I'm confused at why 8 finding out this girl is Bi is so good? Did I miss something? :mommy:
I'm on the home straight for my second year at uni and apart from my 3d work that was a complete shambles its gone quite well! :)

Ofelix Sat, 9th May '09, 4:31pm I saw the new Star Trek yesterday, it was pretty good. Not the best movie I ever saw, but still good. Quinto as Spock was awesome though.

Yes that's sort of what I thought ;)
8people Sat, 9th May '09, 5:06pm @ Dave
Not as far as I know :hmm:
I found a website where you get game coins for about £5 for a month, 50 coins a month, it's all doanloadable casual games, and about 50 coins will get you a game that normally sells for £9, or more coin packs together to get more expensive games. Am going to give it a trial and see what it's like.
Am also being told over the Summer I need to get into Hordes or Warmachine, I have my eye on the Circle Orboros in Hordes, it's shiny!
Behold, an empty wallet!
Dave the Magic Turtle Sat, 9th May '09, 7:48pm @8
Well thats a relief, I thought everyone was congratulating you on finding a girlfriend for a moment, I was confused cos you said you had a boyfriend earlier. Obviously I mis-interpretted something lol :shake:
I think I'm going to put up my concept art I did for my course later :)
EDIT - I posted in the AoDA a second ago...I'm scared :mommy:

8people Sat, 9th May '09, 9:03pm Awwww....you're no fun! :aww:

Was this in the same sentence as when he asked you if your friend was bi? Or perhaps after you found out she was and there might be a chance.... ;)
Stefanina Sun, 10th May '09, 6:19am Okay, seeing the new Star Trek movie in an IMAX theater was worth the price of admission and the gas to get there. For the curious, it was about a 75 mile drive to the theater.

Not good, but, as Dave said, at least you now have a back-up plan. ;)
8people Sun, 10th May '09, 2:36pm
Considering my two longest relationships so far have both ended shortly before planned proposals, it's a little nervewracking :p
I get the impression our bi friend is more interested in my bf than me anyway, she texts him far more than me, we're determined though, damnit!
On the plus side I have somewhere to stay over Summer, now that Sal has decided he isn't going to live with me and is going home for the Summer, my mother is annoyed at me over us breaking up so I don't fancy spending three months at home when she lectures me so often over the phone every day anyway.
Ragusa Sun, 10th May '09, 2:48pm 8people,
you're getting more scandalous by the minute :D Good luck with your menage a trois.
And after wrecking my MBR and my XP installation, I eventually finished re-installing. Long live Xmarks and backed up e-mails on a thumb drive. It's so much less of a hassle that way. What's left is re-installing my games. I guess I can handle that :heh:
Kitrax Sun, 10th May '09, 4:27pm Ugh...I messed up my lower back big time. Everytime I take a step, it shoots pain down my legs to my knees...as if my back is telling them to stop. :nolike:
I've decided to agree with it rath than argue.

And if you didn't see that coming up you're blinder than a bat.
Living together when you're teenagers (or early 20somethings) in love for a few years... is bound to end up in total failure. You taught me that much about trusting my feelings.
8people Sun, 10th May '09, 5:48pm That Public Service Announcement was brought to you by Mr Sunshine! :D
Sal and I never lived together in the end, he never wanted to. I could see us splitting up for a while before we actually did, was becoming apparent he was just putting off over and over us being together if nothing else. Several incidents with him lead to people pointing out things weren't okay between us and all.
In other news, I am having so much fun outfitting my larp character
I have two outfits for her to wear now, one designed for guid duty, the other for general wear. Also have her teeth, eyes and ears sorted (She's a Fey'ri from Races of Faerun) have also bought a new quill and some parchment paper to practice calligraphy and encoded messages. My boyfriend and I are going to get a camera so I can sit and take pictures of the final battles and special events to upload onto Facebook as so many people complain there are not enough pictures. All the pics of me from the last event are of me looking self concsious in the Cripmobile
Silvery Sun, 10th May '09, 6:26pm It was getting a bit obvious that you and your ex weren't right 8. He was starting to sound like a bit of prat who didn't know he had a good thing with you!

Saber Sun, 10th May '09, 9:20pm Finished Dead Space, now I'm on to Bioshock. And I'm trying out Condemned 2: Bloodshot, but it has some awkward gameplay...
Ragusa Sun, 10th May '09, 10:20pm After I installed XP, XP rewrote the boot sequence so that only XP would boot. When I corrected the boot sequence to start with Windows 7 again - I got the dual boot screen on startup, but XP fails to start with an error report whenever I choose it. WTF?
Anyone who has an idea on how ti fix that weirdness?
Dave the Magic Turtle Sun, 10th May '09, 11:13pm @Ragusa

The Star Trek film is amazing...loved every second of it :)
Loreseeker Mon, 11th May '09, 12:28am Remember that thread "Would you let your kid join/read BoM?" These days, I'd probably change my answer to it to no, with some of the topics recently covered here in RBP - too much info, way too much info... :bad:
Exam icebergs looming on the horizon - really should focus, but it's spring and life is *fun*. Sleep might end up being the first casualty in the war of Lady and Sloth. (Doing my best to disbelieve Tyrant to non-existence) :p

Oh and if you have any problems with anything related to serine deaminases I'm now your man!
Disciple of The Watch Mon, 11th May '09, 6:08am I used to date a bi chick back in the days. It felt like a bizzare love triangle... though an enjoyable one. The sight of me holding my gf's hand, and my gf holding her gf's hand was... something.
Saber Mon, 11th May '09, 7:36am ARGH. I am so pissed at my TV right now. Brand new Sony Bravia, beautiful, gorgeous, awesome. Except for the automatic contrast adjuster, which adjusts the brightness of the television based on the current brightness. Which would be fine, except not only does it make dark scenes a ton darker, it stays on even when I turn it OFF. What. The. Eff.
Disciple of The Watch Mon, 11th May '09, 7:49am Wow, I overdid myself -- three new long overdue reviews for the Cigar Lounge.
Saber, what else did you expect from Sony?
ION, while sorting out some of my pics, I stumbled upon the folder that contains the pics of me and my freaking ex. At the very same moment I enter the folder, XMMS plays the Right to Censor's theme... basically, two and a half minutes of a bunch of annoying alarms and a "Warning" in an metallic voice every now and then. It made me chuckle.
Don't listen to that if you got the volume anywhere max. This is gonna split your ears unmercyfully.

Silvery Mon, 11th May '09, 9:18am YAY!! My wedding dress has arrived! I'm going for my first fitting today to see what adjustments need making as they always seem to style wedding dresses for tall people.
ION, Rob and I went to order a new kitchen the other day. The one we have is really badly designed and dark (it was here when we moved in). We've gone for high gloss white units, all intergrated steel appliances including a coffee machine, double oven and microwave and an American style fridge freezer.
We've also decided to have a wall taken out between the kitchen and dining room.
All in all the total is around the £30,000 mark.....oops
Kitrax Mon, 11th May '09, 10:50am Kit, sounds like you've got a touch of sciatica :(
Not *quite* that bad. I had that several years ago and remember it well. I think I know what did it...I'm going to blog about it (http://www.sorcerers.net/forums/blog.php?b=209)...

You're luckier than me. Apparently, XP doesn't like Win7...when I tried to do a dual-boot setup, all I got was the BSoD. :bad:

Find the ambient light sensor, and put a piece of electrical tape over it.
The sight of me holding my gf's hand, and my gf holding her gf's hand was... something.

We've also decided to have a wall taken out between the kitchen and dining room.

That's not bad...when I was working at the custom cabinetry shop; it wasn't uncommon to have a $75,000 order for kitchen cabinets alone. We didn't tear out/build walls or do countertops...so a $75k job would probably end up costing the homeowner over $100k+ once everything was said and done.
Ragusa Mon, 11th May '09, 12:54pm Kit,
I used Vista BootPro and EasyBCD. First installed Win7, then XP. Then restored Vista Boot Manager, and got the dual boot option - but was unable to start XP.
Balle Mon, 11th May '09, 2:02pm to you guys wandering around with the xp and windows 7 thing, you might want to try the grub boot loader used on linux, i have dual booted a whole lot of different OS's using that, not windows 7 though.
you can install it using fx. archlinux and then deleting the partition for the archlinux distro and keep the GRUB loader, that way you might be able to boot xp and W7.
ION i just found out, one of my friends initials is A BJ ;)

Digging for gold is the old finger up the nose routine... taking a swallow is self-explanatory... she is known for a lot of really-gross actions in our office, like leaving food in the fridge until it turns into penicillin.
Morgoth Mon, 11th May '09, 10:09pm A common precaution against the pig flue of course.. If she eats it that is.

Technically, yes, but the only thing I had in common with her gf was, well, my then-gf. She wasn't my type, either. The real fun was being an observer. Yes. Much fun.
8people Tue, 12th May '09, 2:27am So the lass we like had a date last night. She snuck out halfway through to phone my bf for a chat and today was telling him how she doesn't really fancy the other guy but he's quite sweet and he treated her like a princess (note: all men do  that or treat her like an object which is really not nice to see. Some people just don't know limits :nono:)
Have had an awful day today, everything that could hurt is doing so with gusto.
Have one more day to work my out-of-proportioned ass off and then fin. I'm off to Solihull for a few weeks and staying firmly snuggled up with my boyfriend until the world has gone away and I don't have to think about anything anymore.
Then LARP where I can get out of myself for a weekend
Then back to Southampton to pack everything and move it back home.
Then back to Solihull for as long as I'm allowed to stay there. I'm pretty sure my bf will be sick of me by September and I'm hoping he gets internet before then!
Dave the Magic Turtle Tue, 12th May '09, 4:11am @8
I think I've given up even trying to understand/follow your relationship(s) :xx:
I have to start work again tomorrow, had a day off cos I basically worked myself into a coma (slight exaggeration maybe) this past week, even after plenty of sleep and a 3 hour nap today I am not fully recovered...I can tell I'm not because I feel like I'm still sat a little ways back in my head, kinda like being drunk except its what happens to me when I get exhausted too : / I guess thats what I get for having 3 sleepless nights and a couple of 4 hour nights. Next year I will aim to not be brought to near death by my final couple of weeks at uni...this always happens :(
ION
I'm bored.
Saber Tue, 12th May '09, 4:26am I think I've given up even trying to understand/follow your relationship(s)

Maybe we should number them.

I said my job was new and shiny. No one said anything about the lab :jawdrop:
It's... about to fall apart, to put it mildly. There's no one else around, lots of things seem to be missing and generally it seems that a good deal of my work in the first weeks will be getting things running again. Not pretty.
I've also just wasted most of yesterday and all morning today on a fool's errand trying to deal with the university's abysmal bureaucracy. The sheer idiocy of Human Resources never ceases to amaze.
Saber Tue, 12th May '09, 5:55pm I'm not breaking up with anyone I just commented it was very early for marriage to be mentioned.
Oh, okie!
And the last episode of house was pretty good, I thought. After the 'revelation' though, it was a bit anticlimactic.
8people Tue, 12th May '09, 6:48pm gratuitous housage below!
More the concept of hallucinating so vividly and not realise until it's far too late was what made it horrible to me. House losing his mind would just be tragic, like Pratchett with Alzheimers! They are pushing for Season Six though so who knows

I goddamn hate sniping, the fix is easy (min 1min of time from last bid until auction close), and yet I run into it every other purchase I try to make.

Yeah, I hate that crap too...When I place a bid; my maximum is always an odd number. The last auction I won was for $31.77. I checked it about an hour before it ended, and my current bid was at $30...and right before it ended someone tried to snipe it...probably $31, or $31.50...but my odd bid still won. :D

ION, today is dark, and it looks to me like a storm is brewing in the horizon. Good. Less idiots to deal with today.
IOON, no more ecological cigarettes for me. That's an expense I can no longer afford, so I rockstarred the habit to the street. There's some more urgent matters to take care of -- a few details regarding my new flat still need to be sorted out.
Silvery Thu, 14th May '09, 7:51pm I'm joining Kit in the realm of having a bad back because of other peoples bad driving! Some silly cow on the other side of the road to me decided to overtake on a corner. I had to slam the anchors on and ended up in a hedge!
Saber Thu, 14th May '09, 8:00pm Eep, hope you're okay Silvery! I hate bad drivers also... I really wish there was a national standard for driving... a lot of states have absolute crap requirements. Like in Virginia, their driving instructors pass them and allow them to get their license. Up here, you have to have a state trooper pass you, which is a lot more nervewracking, but ultimately a better test than driving instructors, many of whom (in my experience) are lazy and don't give a crap.
Silvery Thu, 14th May '09, 8:38pm Thanks bunny, I'm ok, just a bit sore

Ziad Fri, 15th May '09, 5:59pm I signed the lease today! I officially have a new flat! :D
It's a lovely one-bedroom apartment not too for from the city center. The building's on the main road but the flat is to the back and gives onto a lovely parc. It's about 20 minutes by bus to work (as opposed to the 100-minute rides I'm doing now) and less than five minutes' walk to the nearest metro station, with lots of cafes and restaurants in the area. The flat's very recently renovated and still brand-new. The only downside is that the building is in not so great shape and the balcony is a disaster, but I have guarantees this is getting fixed before the end of June. All this at a pretty good price too. Couldn't be better!

Taluntain Fri, 15th May '09, 9:22pm I haven't checked in here for a few days, but going through it now there was a lot of relationship-related stuff posted in here that should have been in RRT... so in the future, everyone please post such things in the RRT so that we don't need to move your posts around. I hate those crawling nuisances with an unextinguishable passion. Back at my mother's place, everytime summer came around, so would those nuisances, and the kill count would go up in the triple digits until the annual insecticide treatement. One pops within sight? Instaultraviolentdeath.
Stefanina Sat, 16th May '09, 5:56am Bull ants like to crawl through my windows, I find them on my bedroom walls. Tnhose things hurt when they bite, so if I see one, I kill it!

Kit, my pyro friend, this one's for ya:
Weapon: Small BIC
This small object contains fluid. It can be used to set ablaze miscellaneous things. It is especially effective to burn various bugs, but beware, some can have nasty effects e.g burning a fly will cause a Stinking Cloud effect for 4D6 rounds that will nauseate everyone caught in the radius.
The weapon has a limited lifespan, and cannot be recharged.
Damage: 1D4 Fire
Speed factor: 1
Weapon type: Elemental
Not useable by: No restrictions

Silvery Sun, 17th May '09, 11:05pm what is mono?
Taza Mon, 18th May '09, 1:46am Mononucleosis - also known as "kissing disease" or "glandular fever". No, not herpes.
Saber Mon, 18th May '09, 1:47am Mononucleosis, also called "mono," is a common viral illness that can leave you feeling tired and weak for weeks or months. Mono goes away on its own, but lots of rest and good self-care can help you feel better.
I also have swollen lymph nodes (my throat is so swollen it hurts to swallow, cough, sneeze, talk, etc), a constant headache, and awesome fevers that wake me up at night covered in sweat. Apparently I could also have a swollen spleen.
It's not a dangerous illness, it is just annoying and takes a while to get over.

Disciple of The Watch Mon, 18th May '09, 4:15am I should write up one up for my mini-torch.
Weapon: Mini torch
A cousin of the small/large BIC, the mini torch improves on the flaws of both BICs. The mini torch dishes out a significantly stronger, hotter, and more resilient flame that is akin to the Incinerate spell. Any bug/plant type creature struck with a mini torch must make a saving throw vs Death at +6 or have it's body utterly destroyed by the sheer power of the mini torch. It is recommended to use common sense when deciding what to burn, as some bugs/plants will have either a positive/negative effect. As with the small/large BIC, burning a fly, for example, will trigger an empowered version of the spell Stinking Cloud, which lasts 8D6 rounds, and all caught in the radius effect must pass a fortitude check at -2 or puke their guts out.
A mini-torch is subjected to the same limited lifespan BICs are, but the depleted weapon can be reloaded by using Fire essence of any potency.
Damage: Fire 1D12
Speed factor: 2
Damage type: Elemental (Fire)
Not usable by: No restriction
ChickenIsGood Mon, 18th May '09, 8:42am Oh weekend, I shall miss you *tear*

Actually...my mini-torch should be considered a 2D12 +2 weapon with an enhanced speed of 0, as it has electronic ignition, adjustable flame size/intensity, 2x the fuel capacity, and 2x the flame size of most mini's. :D

(That was a terrible joke and I apologise.)
Deathmage Mon, 18th May '09, 12:42pm I've just thought of the best name for a bar: "My Pants". Think about the possibilities!
"There's a party at My Pants next Thursday, wanna come?"
"This place blows. Let's go to My Pants."
"My Pants is a pretty good place to dance."
And, there'd be some great pickup lines fitting in with the locale:
"So what's a cute guy/girl like you doing in My Pants like this?"
"What do you think of My Pants?"
"Want to dance in My Pants?"
AND the best part is, you can't even talk about how much the bar sucks:
"My Pant sucks, let's get out of here." See, it just plain wouldn't work.

Ragusa Tue, 19th May '09, 6:22pm Yesterday I rode my bike through broken glass and within two meters my tire was flat. Had to take the tram home, and there spend an hour fixing my bike. May the bastard(ess) who broke that bottle there have a good mouthful of broken glass before being repeatedly slapped in the face with a trout. Antisocial bastard(esse)s.
The curious thing about it was that only on Friday I bought a new tire, and on Saturday a new air pump, and originally wanted to fix my bike on Sunday, and only didn't because I was too lazy ....

Prior to my great-great-grandparents settling here (Why in the NINE hells would they do that in their right mind?!?!?!), I can count three generations based in Blackpool.
ION, got a letter from college. They're expecting me to show up on a day where I work for a bloody English test... despite the fact I used to take "Advanced" classes, which in short could be summed as conversing on a topic completly in English during classes. I know which classes I'll be skipping -- I can pull my ass out of the fire just fine at the final exam, thanks a lot. I'll find a way to do it online -- no chance in the bloody hells I'm making the trip a Saturday morning for a freaking 20 minutes test. It's supposed to last an hour -- like I need that much time.
