Kitrax Wed, 20th May '09, 7:48am Grrrr....
I've been all over town looking for a simple bracket I need to secure the speakers I'm taking to work tomorrow, and every hardware store I've been to has no idea what I'm talking about...until I drawl them a picture...at which point, they say, "Oooooooooooh! I know what it is now...ummmmmm, if we had anything like that, it would be on aisle XYZ."
So I go to the aisle in question, only to find something that kind of *looks* similar, but would never work in the application that I need it for. :bang:
The really irritating thing is, I used them often at my old job, so I know they exist!
Deathmage Wed, 20th May '09, 9:05am I was really confused until I figured out Kitrax meant "aisle" ...it sounded you had to take a plane in search of elusive hardware. :p
Silvery Wed, 20th May '09, 9:14am Can't you make one yourself Kit?
DotW, Blackpool is the capital of cheese! It's THE seaside town
The Magister Wed, 20th May '09, 9:34am I was really confused until I figured out Kitrax meant "aisle" ...it sounded you had to take a plane in search of elusive hardware. :p
You mean you've never heard of the isle in question? It's located in the sea of conjecture. :p
Kitrax Wed, 20th May '09, 12:04pm Can't you make one yourself Kit?
I could...if I had an Acetylene Oxygen torch, an anvil, a ball peen hammer, and a drill press...oh and some roundbar to form it out of. :bad:
I was really confused until I figured out Kitrax meant "aisle" ...it sounded you had to take a plane in search of elusive hardware. :p
Ah...stupid me.
*fixed*
You mean you've never heard of the isle in question? It's located in the sea of conjecture. :p

Quiet you...
Saber Wed, 20th May '09, 3:20pm Hey Kit, was it you who posted that photo of the number of cables connecting (internetically) Australia to the rest of the world? If so, is there anyway you could post it again? I am trying to find it to explain something to someone.
martaug Wed, 20th May '09, 4:19pm internetically
I think we have a new word here.
Dave the Magic Turtle Wed, 20th May '09, 5:09pm Which uni do you go to Dave?
Sorry for the rather belated reply but I go to Teesside University in Middlesbrough...some call me mad but I actually like the place :D
Silvery Thu, 21st May '09, 9:44am I went to Teesside!! I'm from Middlesbrough and I live in Darlington now! That's soooooo cool! What course you doing?
Dave the Magic Turtle Thu, 21st May '09, 1:56pm I'm on Digital Music and Animation, just finished my second year awaiting results...bit nervous cos I think I messed up my 3D work. What did you study?
Iku-Turso Thu, 21st May '09, 2:09pm Why is it that I love older actresses like Judi Dench and Helen Mirren :hmm:
Dave the Magic Turtle Thu, 21st May '09, 2:16pm Because they are classy :D
Why is I have man crushes on older actors...Patrick Stuart, Harrison Ford...yeah I'm not ashamed to admit it :p...hell Leanord Neemoy (sp?) for his voice, god I love his voice :shake: Civ 4 was always a good game in my books simply because he read the research stuff!
Silvery Thu, 21st May '09, 2:19pm I did mental health nursing for a year but had to quit as I (ironically) had a nervous breakdown  ah well, if you can't laugh at a serious mental health problem, what can you laugh at?
You'll do fine with your results, it Middlesbrough, we're all barbarians who eat with our fingers and can't read, you'll ace the class!

LKD Thu, 21st May '09, 6:52pm Man alive, my students this session are needy little whiners. They're driving me up the freaking wall!
Blades of Vanatar Thu, 21st May '09, 9:31pm My wife just made a German Choclate cake with holes punched into it and poured in the Caramel. Then drizzled more caramel on top... Time to bust out the hole-punch, hopefully there's room left for one more on the belt!

Just make sure you have insulin on hand...just in case you go into diabetic shock! :p
In other news...I just found out I get 2 days off that won't count towards my vacation account because my boss has a shred of decency. :D I have to switch to the day shift for a week of EMT training, and they were going to make me work Sunday 1am-7am...and then expect me to work 9 hours on Monday starting at 8am. That would have been fun... :skeptic:
Disciple of The Watch Fri, 22nd May '09, 6:58am I absolutely destroyed the store record for the most customers for two days straight. No, I didn't destroy it, I raped it until it begged for it's mother. 1378 customers in 17 hours... you do the math.
I rolled myself a huge ecological cigarette upon arriving at home both evenings. Talk about relaxing after a [expletive] day.
I hate my boss's boss. Get a pack of batteries, already.
The Magister Fri, 22nd May '09, 8:57am I absolutely destroyed the store record for the most customers for two days straight. No, I didn't destroy it, I raped it until it begged for it's mother. 1378 customers in 17 hours... you do the math.
...wow. Where the hell do you work?
Iku-Turso Fri, 22nd May '09, 2:25pm Hell?
Mwa! Ha! Ha! Brooouuuhaaahaahaahaahaaha! Mwaaahhaahhhaahheehhaa!*cough* *cough*
The Magister Fri, 22nd May '09, 2:30pm Hell?
Mwa! Ha! Ha! Brooouuuhaaahaahaahaahaaha! Mwaaahhaahhhaahheehhaa!*cough* *cough*
..oh you went there.
Having said that...I CAN picture DoTW running a store in hell >.>
Silvery Fri, 22nd May '09, 5:43pm I just trailed round loads of different chemists to get my tablets. Everywhere was either out of stock due to a manufacturing problem or had a 3 hour wait!
Good job that they're my happy pills or I'd be seriously ****ed off!
ChickenIsGood Fri, 22nd May '09, 9:05pm Woo, hopefully I'm old enough now that people will stop asking if I'm still in high school.
martaug Sat, 23rd May '09, 12:17am O'man, the noober thread got locked!
You gotta put up with him for a couple of minutes to get the extra xp.
Loreseeker Sat, 23rd May '09, 1:25am Home. Typing. Dodging books. Hurray! :p
If frogs have their pupils positioned vertically, they are most likely nocturnal.
Nights are great this time of year - I just hope there are no thunderstorms though...
Stefanina Sat, 23rd May '09, 2:44am Heading off for the weekend, I'm sure it will be a muddy mess. I think I've seen sunlight for a total of 15 minutes in the past 9 days!
The Magister Sat, 23rd May '09, 10:24am I find myself in need of snacks...
Oh. Chicken. That will do. :)
Kitrax Sat, 23rd May '09, 4:17pm Woo, hopefully I'm old enough now that people will stop asking if I'm still in high school.
Well? Are you? :hmm:
In other news, I have to hand in my final paper in my Written Analysis class in under an hour...I'm a little nervious, because it's 25% of my overal grade.
ChickenIsGood Sat, 23rd May '09, 8:01pm Not even at all.
The worst part is that half of the people who ask, are the those whom I only see while on campus (Washington State). You'd think they would be able to put it together, but then again, I'm probably overestimating the already underwhelming mental acuity of the student population here.
Kitrax Sat, 23rd May '09, 8:31pm School's out for two weeks *and* I got an 'A' in all my classes!!! (an A = top marks for you oddballs that use a different grading system)
I must celebrate with booze...lots and lots of booze! :yum:
Besides that news of awesomeness...I'm listening to one of TSO's Xmas albums for some reason. :skeptic:
Taluntain Sat, 23rd May '09, 10:59pm Congrats! :thumb:
Disciple of The Watch Sun, 24th May '09, 8:33am School's out for two weeks *and* I got an 'A' in all my classes!!!

Kitrax Sun, 24th May '09, 12:08pm O'man, the noober thread got locked!
You gotta put up with him for a couple of minutes to get the extra xp.
Don't worry...Neeber will show up soon enough... :p
Woo. Want a freaking medal?
Well since you offered...I *would* like a medal. :D
Disciple of The Watch Sun, 24th May '09, 11:50pm Too freaking bad you can't tell sarcasm when you see it.
ChickenIsGood Mon, 25th May '09, 7:50am Ugh, my roommate is moving out tomorrow... Gonna be really boring without him around, I guess I'll start working out again.
The Magister Mon, 25th May '09, 9:21am Too freaking bad you can't tell sarcasm when you see it.
The fact that text makes it difficult to convey sarcasm is one of the greatest failings of the internet in my opinion.
ChickenIsGood Mon, 25th May '09, 9:27am I'm pretty sure in this case that sarcasm was detected... Regardless, I do agree with The Magister as far as the failure of text to convey not just sarcasm, but [most] any tone of voice.
The Magister Mon, 25th May '09, 10:33am Well I don't know about ANY TONE OF VOICE. I MEAN CAPSLOCK IS GENERALLY ATTRIBUTED TO SHOUTING.
Kitrax Mon, 25th May '09, 11:15am Too freaking bad you can't tell sarcasm when you see it.
Either that, or you just suck at it! I'm leaning towards the latter... :p
I'm pretty sure in this case that sarcasm was detected...
Exactly...that's why I responded with equal amounts of sarcasm - the only difference being that mine had quality! :D
Well I don't know about ANY TONE OF VOICE. I MEAN CAPSLOCK IS GENERALLY ATTRIBUTED TO SHOUTING.
Shhhhhhhhhh! Use your *indoor* voice!
Loreseeker Mon, 25th May '09, 12:52pm *ducks to avoid flying words, daggers and such...*
My parents bought a glass engraving kit for my brother. He is surprisingly good with it, (or unsurprisingly, given he took Drawing Genius +1 feat at age 2...)
Anyway, I want to play with glass! :( ...but instead I have to study a bunch of subjects I really don't care much about atm.
Ziad Mon, 25th May '09, 3:14pm I'm back!
Iku-Turso Mon, 25th May '09, 3:33pm WB Z! :D
ION, I'm the only guy at my workteam right now. I'm in a summer-hot sizzling room filled with sweet perfume and scent of women.
Another summer in these cramped quarters might drive me nuts once more. Hyarr, hyarr, hyarr.
Disciple of The Watch Mon, 25th May '09, 7:20pm Either that, or you just suck at it! I'm leaning towards the latter...
[Expletive] you.
LKD Mon, 25th May '09, 11:17pm Well, I want a medal -- I just got my King's Tears gem! Maybe that counts as a medal in and of itself.
I also deserve a medal for not smacking my most annoying student upside the head. She's got this really strident, whiny voice that just cuts across my nervous system like fingernails on a blackboard. She also has the maturity of a 14 year old (for those who don't know, I teach adults)
Another medal should be coming my way for not ramming into every jack<donkey> who pisses me off on the way to work.
So forward all medals I deserve to the following address:

Disciple of The Watch Tue, 26th May '09, 6:33am While rummaging in my old emails a few days ago, I found an old email from a former friend of mine, a female dog I really hate with a passion. Anyway, this old email was about a rant of hers... no, I won't go in the details. Really. Unless you have a few million years to waste, that is. Looking at that mail, I felt the irrepresible urge of replying her something dry and caustic at the same time. And I did. Didn't had to dig very far... "Cry me a freaking river". She actually replied to me, asking me if something's the matter, and that instead of "saying such things", I shouldn't have bothered emailing her back. Then, time for the grand finale -- "Hah! Glad to have been a bit of sunshine in your day.". I had myself cracking a smile.
ION, tonight was smooth as italian marble floors... then again, after surviving WW3 and WW4 last week at work, everything else looks like a two-week vacation.
Kitrax Tue, 26th May '09, 8:51am [Expletive] you.
Right back ya' bud! :D
You know, I'm really glad I found a smart [Expletive] [Expletive] here on the BoM who has a similar way of showing affection through words.
Well, I want a medal -- I just got my King's Tears gem! Maybe that counts as a medal in and of itself.
You don't get medals for samiversaries.... :p
Silvery Tue, 26th May '09, 9:20am I took my sister to see Nickelback last night for her birthday. My feet hurt now, 4 hours of standing in a boiling hot, overcrowded stadium.
Mind you, it was a lot better than I thought it would be and the support band were rather good. However, just to show how old I'm getting now I have a child and stuff, I'd much rather have been sitting down!
Loreseeker Tue, 26th May '09, 9:53am Welcome back, Z! :)

The Magister Tue, 26th May '09, 3:06pm You mean you no longer know him? I don't know if I should feel jealousy or pity :shake:
We stay in touch, but it seems like I see him less and less these days :(
LKD Tue, 26th May '09, 11:09pm Awww, yeah, my rep is going up and my weight is going down. Yay me.
Now half the board is gonna neg-rep me, but whatever.
Deathmage Tue, 26th May '09, 11:29pm Procrastination: everybody's best friend.
And the reason why I'm posting here right now. Crap.
LKD Wed, 27th May '09, 1:06am God knows I'm procrastinating -- I have essays to grade, and I don't want to do it any more than the students wanted to write 'em.
The Magister Wed, 27th May '09, 2:04am I should be revising for a programing test worth 30% of my total mark...

ChickenIsGood Wed, 27th May '09, 7:14am Wake up at 6, eight hours of work, four of basketball... busy day.
Kitrax Wed, 27th May '09, 8:42am I finally found out what the strange stains on several of our couch cousins are from....one of our cats just sits there and licks them until the licked area is about 4-6 inches in diameter. :skeptic: Up 'till now, we had no idea what they were...but I just walked in on her, and she just gave me the, "What? I'm not doing anything wrong..." look.

Kitrax Wed, 27th May '09, 3:00pm Like what is it with people who like use the word "like" something like a dozen times like in a single sentence?

Silvery Wed, 27th May '09, 4:33pm They also tend to overuse the word 'totally' like totally all the time
Ziad Wed, 27th May '09, 5:39pm Like I dunno.... Like, I guess they're like valley girls. :bang:
I like totally hope not because they were like totally male, y'know
T2Bruno Wed, 27th May '09, 5:58pm Any male that uses the word 'like' as an interjection is not "totally male."
Saber Thu, 28th May '09, 1:20am Jury duty... bleck. I know it is my civic duty and all, but it is just a hassle, particularly for the infirmed!
Silvery Thu, 28th May '09, 9:28am You might get some interesting cases.....or not
The Magister Thu, 28th May '09, 12:21pm You might get some interesting cases.....or not
I'm going with not >.>
Silvery Thu, 28th May '09, 12:52pm Yep, it'll be parking fines and kids caught with a joint.
I have coffee and quiet time for the next hour!! YAY!!!!!!
Dave the Magic Turtle Thu, 28th May '09, 2:39pm I think I've found a direct corrolation between my creativity and how many games I play, it goes like this:
More games = Less Creativity
It sucks cos I enjoy playing games but I need to cut down so I can get creative :(
Ziad Thu, 28th May '09, 11:59pm New version of DOSBox (http://www.dosbox.com/) is out!
Seems to be a colletion of bug fixes more than anything else but there's a couple of interesting ones: SVGA support and prefetch queue. Between them they should fix a number of compatibility issues.
The Magister Fri, 29th May '09, 6:05am I think I've found a direct corrolation between my creativity and how many games I play, it goes like this:

I find that reading books helps creativity. Therefore:
Creativity = books*2 / gamesPlayed
Kitrax Fri, 29th May '09, 10:06am I took the speaker system I've been working on for the past few weeks to work last night....and I realized my bay is *much* louder than I thought. My tests at home showed that the speakers can pump out the tunes remarkably loud, but in my bay, I've got to have the volume cranked up to 90-100% just to hear music 10 feet away. :bad:
I know I need to make a pre-amp to save the battery in my mp3 player (the system currently has 3 stereo plugs sucking power from the Mp3 player)...hopefully a pre-amp will help bump the power up a bit too.
Loreseeker Fri, 29th May '09, 11:19am The more I sleep, the more tired I am, these days. Sadly, not sleeping all night seems to have the same result...
I'm not even mentioning food.
Stress should be banned... or sent to the quasielemental plane of salt covered in paper-cuts. :p
Trellheim Fri, 29th May '09, 3:15pm HA! I solved my wireless internet connection problems with one thing.
A cable.
Silvery Fri, 29th May '09, 6:40pm The salt should be covered in paper cuts??
Been invited to a barbeque at our friends house. I really don't want to go because it means I have to drive so I can't have a drink!
Ziad Fri, 29th May '09, 6:44pm The more I sleep, the more tired I am, these days. Sadly, not sleeping all night seems to have the same result...
I usually have the same problem with sleep. There's a sweet spot (around 8 hours) that I have to hit. If it takes me a long time to go to sleep and then I have to wake up early I feel awful for the rest of the day, and if I just oversleep and get up late because I have nothing to do I have a massive headache. I have set my alarm to early-ish for Sunday mornings to avoid this, and I always feel angry when I have to resort to that!
Loreseeker Fri, 29th May '09, 8:14pm The salt should be covered in paper cuts??
Well, if they made weapon salves (unguentum armarium)... :p
(If I recall my pharmacy history classes, it had components like hematite, lichen taken from skulls found under the gallows, human or bear fat, powdered worms boiled in wine... it's probably for the best it got applied to blades and not wounds)
...or I could just correct my weird sentence construction and stick with stress having paper cuts...
ChickenIsGood Sat, 30th May '09, 8:10am Good night, but it doesn't feel all that great now that it's over (not due to intoxicants, lol).
The Magister Sat, 30th May '09, 12:30pm Why do I feel so depressed suddenly :(
Iku-Turso Sat, 30th May '09, 12:47pm Have a banana.

Disciple of The Watch Sat, 30th May '09, 2:45pm 8:45 in the [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] morning and I'm awake. All that for a stupid English test. I admit the idea of going on a riot in the administrative section of this bunch of idiots sounds pretty damn good right now. Not to mention I work until [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] 8PM tonight. So I'll have to spend the whole day suffering the advanced lack of sleep thanks to those [expletive] [expletive] who think it's a good idea to schedule a [expletive] test on a [expletive] Saturday morning.
Argh!!!!!!

ChickenIsGood Sat, 30th May '09, 4:57pm Damn, my sleep schedule is already wired for the Summer. I wake up at 6:00am weekdays without an alarm, and I just discovered that it seems 7:00am is the time for Saturdays... boo on this, I want to sleep in.
Trellheim Sat, 30th May '09, 6:17pm "Sorcerer's Place - Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights 2,....."
I remember when having the Dragon Age there seemed like it was saying "BG3", a Duke Nukem Forever that would never be released, but one could always dream.
And now it's coming out, as a mindless action rpg with a story we already know.
...Nostalgy is a bad place is what I'm saying.

Why, thank you dear -- wish those idiots could hear you. Anyway, after a can of Cran-Razz Xyience, this test was a laughable waste of time. Might me on the risque side, but I have to tell it -- I laughed my ass off when question #51 came around. This was in the oral comprension part... they say a sentence twice, and you have to select the answer that reflects the sentence heard. "I like d***" was the phrase, and it was also a possible answer. I understand they're refering to the PERSON, but still...

Ziad Mon, 1st Jun '09, 4:48pm I've moved!
I spent my first night in my new flat yesterday. I had forgotten how tiresome moving was, I spent most of the weekend moving and buying things and trying not to forget anything (I did forget a few things in the end, of course), then stayed up until almost 2am last night cleaning the place. The flat looked really nice and clean when I visited a month ago, but it's only after I moved that I started noticed everything that was wrong with it. Ah well.
Now comes the fun part: buying more furniture, getting internet installed, notifying all the agencies about my change of address (long list that one). It's going to be a busy week. But at least I have my very own new space now!
Disciple of The Watch Mon, 1st Jun '09, 6:56pm No need- most posters seem to be clued up enough to spell 'em right. It's just exceptions like Kit that you have to be lenient towards.
Aye, it's just the lazy Americans you have to watch out for
:shake:
ION, blah. Welfare check day, the one day a month where all the 'too lazy to work' subhuman leeches get out of their lairs to buy scratchers, cheap beer, cheap cigarettes and raid the sandwich supply. I'm not in a good mood either... should be interesting.
ChickenIsGood Tue, 2nd Jun '09, 12:40am I had such a great weekend, dinner and a movie with a lovely lady on Friday, and poker and drinks with my old friends on Saturday.
Silvery Tue, 2nd Jun '09, 9:33am I think that I may be crazier than my doctors think...
We're getting a new kitchen on the 19th of this month and we've decided to take out the wall between the dining room and kitchen so we have more light (the design of the house means that the kitchen is quite dark for most of the day). Anyway, the builder and electrician are starting work on the 12th to take the wall out. The crazy part is that Rob and I have decided to have Ashleys birthday party on the 14th at home!

That's not crazy.... My parents had Xmas and New Years Eve parties at their house while their entire kitchen was gutted. No stove (it was relocated outside until the new gas line had been installed), no cabinets, a 10' x 4' hole along the ceiling, 3 walls were missing, there was a 4' x 4' hole in the wall where a new window was going, and dust/rubble was everywhere.
My mom's knees and ankle were really bad back then, so she insisted everyone come over to their house for the two holidays. :bad:
Besides, kids like destroying stuff...give him a hammer and let him go wild on some sheetrock!
Balle Tue, 2nd Jun '09, 1:54pm i remember the best day at my old job, the day we got to tear down all the shelves, cash registers, refund thing and all things misc, that was ****ing AWESOME, we all gathered crowbars or 1½ meter metal pipes and ripped through everything, afterwards it was beer and pizza time! ROCK the **** ON
Saber Tue, 2nd Jun '09, 6:14pm 3 walls were missing
Must have been cold with only 1 wall in the house.

Random reason not to eat honey cakes at 1am:
Touch is probably the perfect illusion. No two molecules are actually touching, surface to surface, assuming one can even define surface of a molecule properly, and yet, solidity works like a charm... :smash:
Silvery Wed, 3rd Jun '09, 9:06am Erm...do you mean that the honey cakes are stuck to the table Lore?
Loreseeker Wed, 3rd Jun '09, 9:30am Nah, merely that eating honey cakes at 1am can trigger "molecules may never touch" mode of thought. Nothing important.
The Magister Wed, 3rd Jun '09, 4:18pm Erm...do you mean that the honey cakes are stuck to the table Lore?
That seems to happen a lot around a friend of mine. Even if the food is plain bread...I think it may just be his house >.>
Montresor Wed, 3rd Jun '09, 4:23pm Or it could be his table... (I'm not sure I want to think too closely about it!)
Silvery Wed, 3rd Jun '09, 4:39pm I'm knackered! My mums back is really bad and I found her about to go and dig her borders over in the garden this morning so I did it instead. I pay someone to do my garden so why the hell I didn't just phone my gardener to do it is beyond me!
8people Wed, 3rd Jun '09, 10:27pm Stuck back in this crappy room at university halls again. On the upside I have internet though.
The lad should be getting net in his flat this week so when I meander back up North I should be able to get online and badger you all without returning home to six pages of updated topics since my absence.
also LARP is awesome. I made us 100gold (equivalent of a lottery win) just by absorbing random overheard conversations and reporting them to the right people at the right time. I am currently a spy for a guild and a clan, in a position of vague importance in the second richest guild and have gained enough popluarity that my survival is pretty much ensured if there is another attack in the guilds and I decide to get involved.
(I'm not supposed to, being a crip and all, means I have to take an automatic hit if someone decides to attack me :( but I can throw a few spells at least first damnit!)
Trellheim Thu, 4th Jun '09, 1:51am I was trying to translate from arubesh what the rest of the classes were in Star Wars: the Old Republic MMO (http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/classes). For example, from the released classes under trooper, it said: "Freedom's shield".
From the unreleased? "Che-" "Check " "Check B" "Check Ba... oh no not..." "CHECK BACK LATER".
Clever buggers. I wonder who figured out that some nerd was going to try to do this.
Stefanina Thu, 4th Jun '09, 4:43am I'm moving offices, again. This has to do with office shakeups. I'm keeping my head low, and will try to get moved quickly tomorrow so I can still get work done.

8people Thu, 4th Jun '09, 12:51pm We get quite a lot of foreign folk turn up at the main events run here. There are four big events a year and we can get thousands of people at them. It's incredible to see. :)
Ziad Thu, 4th Jun '09, 6:11pm  :bang:  :bang:
My new PC components arrived this morning and I was so happy!
Then while opening one the boxes my thumbnail broke and about half of it snapped off, exposing all the flash underneath and bleeding quite profusely. Hurts like hell! :bang:
Thankfully it's the left thumb and I'm right-handed, so I can still sort-of function normally.
But it still means I can't use my left hand properly, and how the hell am I supposed to put a PC together with only one hand?! :bang:
OK, mood swings galore today...

Kitrax Thu, 4th Jun '09, 6:45pm Ack! The pain in my throat is unbearable! It hurts to speak, swallow food or drink, hell...it hurts to *breathe*!!!

Packing sucks. Managed to put my back out so have not done as much as I'd hoped. If I get woken up at 5am again I'll be up packing to Rammstein and Lamb of God. I don't have to live here anymore and like hell I'm pandering to the hungover anymore.

Silvery Fri, 5th Jun '09, 9:20am You don't seem to be having much luck at the minute Kit
Disciple of The Watch Fri, 5th Jun '09, 9:44am Oh for the love of Satan, looks like I made the mistake of underestimating that former friend of mine's stupidity, and big time -- she abysmally failed to get the sarcasm, and now is telling me knowing I'm alive puts sunshine in her day!!! GAH, calling her a dumb [expletive] is a freaking understatement! I guess this calls for the big guns -- time to whip out the entire artillery and lay her flat on her back with a firework of streaming profanities and name-calling as well as totally free jabs at her liking of garden gnomes -- not the real deal, but one perticular SOB who was definitively worthy of the title.
I still can't believe it. This one is so dumb she wouldn't know sarcasm even if it walked right by her.
Kitrax Fri, 5th Jun '09, 11:03am Dude, what about Kit?!

Anyhoo...this year has really sucked health-wise. I haven't been ill so often since I was 10-ish. Hopefully once summer gets here things will improve.
8people Fri, 5th Jun '09, 12:14pm I know how you feel. Have pretty much been bound to my wheelchair this year and since January I haven't had the strength to be able to push myself either.
Problem being now Sal and I are no longer together I have nobody in this city who will help me get around. Will make the rest of my university course interesting if I can't attend half my classes. Am looking at moving into a house opposite the uni, problem is it's got a mainroad between the house and the uni itself meaning I have to use the underpasson my own with limited mobility
Kev is looking to get transferred South though, so we might get a place together nearby :)

But look at the bright side of your situation...you could get a Hover Round electric wheelchair. If I lived near you, I'd sup it up for you. Not much, just upgrade the motors/gears, bigger tires, and a 3-point restraint belt for when you're going 80mph down the highway...

Legal disclaimers make the world go round....
8people Fri, 5th Jun '09, 2:23pm I can't even afford an electric wheelchair if I wanted one  so far just need to keep money aside to repair the manual I have!
I'm also going to start blasting people with magic at LARP, I can't go more than five minutes without somebody trying to get me to get spikes on the wheels or something else
I have bumper stickers on my chair and had a bell and a horn for when I needed to get people out the way (the number of times I've been walked into or pushed around by some idiot!) People stare, at least with stickers on they have something to read while they do. But I am not altering my chair any further, there's a fine line between having a personal touch and becoming everybodys joke.
One of my friends even has a motorbike engine in her garage that her and her mother keep threatening to modify
Silvery Fri, 5th Jun '09, 2:53pm You could get a pack of huskies to pull you!

In other news my new PC was put together yesterday night (with only 9 fingers... yeah it took a while) and now it's up and running! I haven't had time to install the OS but I plan on doing this tonight, then I'll have it all to myself for the weekend!
Time to start hunting all those games I've been meaning to play for a couple of years... NWN2, Witcher, err... that's it?
The next few days are looking up to be pure  with no banging head against wall! And to top it all off I get paid today! :D
Dave the Magic Turtle Fri, 5th Jun '09, 4:34pm Just got from a fantastic week with the girlfriend :) We went to Bath for a week it was lovely, best weather possible! We also got an upgrade from the hotel because a baby seagull fell from a nest on the roof and ended up in the gutter outside our window. It was making lots of noise and so I went and told reception and they gave us a new room no extra charge! :D 4 poster bed awwwww yeah!
Bit sad its over, what with us going to seperate uni's we don't get much time together but we make do with what we get :) Had to come home eventually.

Ofelix Sun, 7th Jun '09, 12:18am Well, I'm back. Work has kept me busy, I just did a 48 hours shift, that's six consecutive days, arrgh! However I'm earning quite the amount of money, which is good.

Ragusa Sun, 7th Jun '09, 1:48am I just wrapped up my b'day party (a few days late) and it was good. Reasonably crowded, music was great, just a few people less than I wished for, but just enough to have cooked and bought beer for ;) Dishes will be left for tomorrow.

ION I haven't had time to enjoy my new desktop PC properly. I barely got to install Windows on it, all the drivers, the usual software suites and the ones I use at work, and that's about it. BOC Wed, 10th Jun '09, 9:22pm The new ebay search sucks . I'm looking for vinyl records and now due to the new search ebay.com and ebay.co.uk do not show results from the other ebay sites, and the other ebay sites (.de, .fr, it.) do exactly the same thing. I think that this is happening because .com and .co.uk place the vinyl records under the category "records", .de places them under the category "vinyl", .fr under the category "vinyles" and so on and this "brand new search engine" can't undestand that it's the same thing :bang:. Of course this means that I must search seperately each regional ebay site, which is absolutely frustrating .

8people Wed, 10th Jun '09, 10:50pm Somebody made a plugin for winamp that could take a high res scan of a vinyl and play it as an mp3 :xx: looked pretty neat.
Blades of Vanatar Wed, 10th Jun '09, 11:00pm I have a huge Vinyl collection and take care of my record player like it's the family jewels, no one touches it but me! Especially my 1st album i got when i was just 7 yrs old.... Kiss - Double Platinum... "Shout it, Shout it, Shout it Out Loud!!" Yeah baby! Damn, i so jealous of Gene Simmons...

Oh yes, there's nothing like the cracks, hisses, and pops of vinyl. Oh, and don't forget that you have the put the needle down in *just* the right spot...
Vinyl records are best used as frisbees.
Ofelix Thu, 11th Jun '09, 12:42am Well, now I have enough wine and beer to make this evening... interesting. And I only work at 11 AM tomorrow, even more fun
Now all is left to do is to wait for my friends to come to Flix's
Ragusa Thu, 11th Jun '09, 12:44am Oh dear I'm drunk ... without the spell checker I'd never succeed in writing proper English.
Went to a concert of La Vela Puerca, great band, and they played well. But the audience ... geez ... it was in a posh club with posh-ish people. Last time I saw the band they were in a small club and every one was drunk, smoking (or smoking weed) and dancing. Certainly, then there were no shirt-wearers around, nor I-might-sweat-people, nor little blouse-wearing girls and polo-shirt boys. Sillly. Great band, good playing and music - definitely poor crowd and unsuitable location.

And that's bad ?
Blackthorne TA Thu, 11th Jun '09, 4:48pm If it was ridiculously easy, you should have done much better than 84%

Vinyl is for collectors now. Like me. My brother tried to use a record of mine as a cup holder, the fingers on his hand haven't worked the same since...

Just wait until you get in to the OSI model, endless protocols, Ethernet frame dissection, more endless protocols, etc....
Morgoth Thu, 11th Jun '09, 9:12pm I passed the Cisco network exams a few years ago, but forgot almost everything since. I really couldn't care less about when to use EIGRP and when BGP, etc, meh.
Heh...that's 40 minutes that no one is paying any attention...so it's the perfect time to swipe the crown jewels!
I did see the crown jewels, but I couldn't see what the fuss was about. They couldn't interest me, even though some of the artifacts were made of gold and are inlaid with thirteen gazillion diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, pearls and other war loo.. eh.. legally obtained glitteries ;). They're are, btw, stored behind 10 cm thick massive steel doors and permanently guarded by people like him (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e8/Coldstream_Guard_July_06.jpg) . I did like the stone and mineral collection at the Natural History Museum better than the crown jewels, especially the large marble collection and the large collection of minerals and semi-precious stones like malachite and Lapis lazuli.
Iku-Turso Fri, 12th Jun '09, 11:32am Hoy! Barms! Back! Wonderful!
Loreseeker Fri, 12th Jun '09, 12:15pm My babbling imagination is stuck in absolute refractory period...
Ofelix Fri, 12th Jun '09, 1:48pm Alas I am facing a complete lack of anything remotely interesting to say on BOM yet I still have got this urge to do so.
Oh yeah, I know, I want a bicycle ! I realised last week that it would take me approximatively an hour of riding to get to work, while it takes me currently 45 minutes of public transportation to do the same. The choice is, I think, quite obvious.
The Magister Fri, 12th Jun '09, 3:43pm Random Babbling Post: Lose touch with meaningful thought one post at a time :D
Disciple of The Watch Fri, 12th Jun '09, 10:11pm I had a customer yesterday which for the first time in a long time pissed me off so bad I wanted to beat the living hell out of. Too bad I was on duty.
8people Fri, 12th Jun '09, 10:37pm Holy crap my internet is working again! I wonder how long it will last! :D

The choice is, I think, quite obvious.Hah, similar here. It takes me about 50 minutes to go to work on public transportation (need to switch trains, and basically drive an 'L'). It takes me about 55 minutes when cycling and cutting it short. As I don't really have time to work out, but must work ... well, the synergy is obvious.
Because it is not so great to be in sweat when arriving at work, I most of the time only cycle the 15km back. Anyway, when working five days that makes me cycle some 75 km per week, and much more if I do 'side quests' or cycle to work as well :)
Kitrax Sat, 13th Jun '09, 1:14am I have neither the equipment nor the motivation to cycle to work....I probably should though, but I never will.
Son of Bhaal Sat, 13th Jun '09, 2:53am There is lots on this page but it is irrelevant, for it has been tainted by the gravvvvy! :(

I worry about people when they start using more then three exclamation marks.
Ofelix Sat, 13th Jun '09, 7:08am Well this is awesome, I carelessly said at work that I was looking for a bicycle and then one of my bosses said her step daughter was selling hers. So, apparently after half an hour latter we've haggled the used bike for 100 $. Which is quite low, considering a new decent one is around 300 $. I may decline the offer if the bicycle is not to my liking, however.
Is it just me or it's kind of weird to go to your boss's home on a day off ?
Stefanina Sat, 13th Jun '09, 7:24am I haven't decided whether it's sad or funny that my cat is the biggest problem I have with my internet connection...
She once again managed to unplug the modem. I of course was not home whne this happened, so my mother was without internet connection for an hour 'til I got back... LOL
To be fair, the power cord is not easy for mom to get to. Now if I could just make it cat-proof.
Ziad Sat, 13th Jun '09, 7:35am Is it just me or it's kind of weird to go to your boss's home on a day off ?
:mommy:
Come to think of it it's weird on any day!
The Magister Sat, 13th Jun '09, 2:40pm I'd feel so odd going to a bosses house. Really odd :nolike:
ChickenIsGood Sat, 13th Jun '09, 9:26pm Packing sucks, especially when it's to move back somewhere, and not to move someplace new.
8people Sat, 13th Jun '09, 9:45pm Ate too much.
Drank too fast.
Gluttony leads to suffering :(
Ofelix Sat, 13th Jun '09, 11:12pm Well I bought the bicycle after all, 100 $ for the bike itself and then 30 $ for an helmet and a lock. Beside some aesthetic problem (i.e there's some paint gone) it's in perfect condition. So the 20 km ride home was smooth and fun. Oh, the happiness !
Kitrax Sun, 14th Jun '09, 2:17am Is it just me or it's kind of weird to go to your boss's home on a day off ?
That depends on how attractive she or her step daughter are....

In my experience, it almost always leads to lethargy!
Ofelix Sun, 14th Jun '09, 4:59am I did some calculation and apparently I'm 6887 days old. That's a lot of days.
The Magister Sun, 14th Jun '09, 10:27am I did some calculation and apparently I'm 6887 days old. That's a lot of days.

Apparently I'm 16,309 days old... :geezer:
8people Sun, 14th Jun '09, 11:52am 7505  seems such a long time when said in days, doesn't it? :) My boyfriend is over ten thousand

Nah, I used the good old brain, pen and paper.
Edit: Waaaiiiiiiiiit, my calculation indicated 6888 (considering today) but the internet says 7614 days ? How could I have miscalculated that much?
Deathmage Mon, 15th Jun '09, 12:56am 7363 days. And 176716 hours (nice number, no?)
Stefanina Mon, 15th Jun '09, 3:01am 12751 days here. And I'm feeling every one of the collection today...

martaug Mon, 15th Jun '09, 2:30pm Wee, back after a 9 day vacation/5th yr anniversary.
All i can say is women are SO much sneakier than men! :)
The wife had me convinced that our place in florida had been broken into & trashed:(, so we had to go done to do repairs and get the insurance ball rolling.
Well
.
.
.
.
.
Turns out there was nothing wrong with the house!!
She had just used it as an excuse to get us to florida, where she had book us a caribbean cruise for our anniversary!:thumb:
She & my brother had planned everything so that i wouldn't have to worry about being away from work for over a week and to look after our animals.
Had a great time(except for rain part of one day) & just can't figure out what that woman sees in me(she is definitely the best thing to ever happen to me).
Back to the postings.
T2Bruno Mon, 15th Jun '09, 3:26pm Nobody can figure out what your wife sees in you... or what mine sees in me... or for that matter what any woman sees in the man she married.
Kudoes to the wife... but don't piss her off, she's clearly capable to doing things to you you'll never see coming....
martaug Mon, 15th Jun '09, 3:38pm Yeah just when you think you get them figured out, they hit you with a swerve.
Thats ok though as my brother was a double agent:D, he was helping me suprise her at the same time he was helping her suprise me.
I had acquired an antique french cabinet bookcase for her(as the traditional 5th yr gift is wood & she loves old furniture) that he had placed in the house while we were gone.
She was so suprised when we got back.
The Magister Mon, 15th Jun '09, 4:19pm It makes me feel sort of lonely reading that post :(
Ziad Mon, 15th Jun '09, 4:43pm don't piss her off, she's clearly capable to doing things to you you'll never see coming....
Are you speaking from experience there? :p
Dave the Magic Turtle Mon, 15th Jun '09, 6:07pm *sigh* my computer is royally screwed...it doesn't see the hard drive most of the time :( I only had it a year now I have to consider getting a new one, something to do with the harddrive logic board? I don't know didn't really understand the message the computer man left me. Not sure if I can get my stuff off it either, atleast the parts are salvagable I think so it shouldn't be too expensive to replace...£300 for an equivilent comp...still a bit annoying though.
Just over half way through Mercenaries 2, still having fun, also played some Prototype yesterday and MY GOD!!! I want it so bad :D
Been reading alot of books by soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and stuff, for some reason I find it really interesting, think I've just begun to get interested by modern military stuff. Even spent a good couple of hours the other day on wikipedia reading about organisation of the British army and NATO...facinating! :)
Blackthorne TA Mon, 15th Jun '09, 6:30pm Maybe you just need to replace the drive and not the entire computer...

I don't know about T2, but I can safely say that I agree with him and I speak from personal experience.
