Been thru the game 3 times with different characters and would like to try doing a multiplayer using my three characters but am having trouble getting it set up. Is there any place that deals with that in a step by step detailed walkthru?

It's not really that complicated of a process...
You simply need to load each of your games where you want your character from, go to the character info screen for your protagonist and choose export character or something similar.
That'll write a character record to your hard drive and place it in the characters directory in your Baldur's Gate II folder.
Repeat this process for all three characters you've had.
This should make you 3 custom chars in the characters dir.
Next time you run a multiplayer game simply choose those chars from the Import list. They'll have the same names there.
That's about it unless I'm mistaken.

Anra,
I'll try to give ya all the particulars.
These are the techniques I use...(read the whole thing before starting)
**When you export your character, BGII only allows you to export to a existing .chr file.
One thing I do prior to exporting my characters is COPY one of the .chr files(Default>Program Files\Black Isle\BGII-SOA\Characters) to another folder in windows explorer.(I use the Black Isle folder...Not too much clutter here)Rename the file to something you'll be able to recall that particuliar character by. COPY this newly named file back to the characters folder. Go back to that newly named .chr file rename it for the next export... continue this process until you have enough slots to export all of your characters. This will prevent over-writing a character you don't want to lose. **Start the saved game with the characters you want to start the new game with. Select the character page -export to the appropriate character named slot.
When you launch BGII go to Configure. Go to Gameplay: set your cache to at least 300MB. Hit Apply. Sit through the test. Yes-Ok-Ok.
-Play
-Multiplayer
-Connect
-Protocol
-Serial
*-Properties
-Port(choose an active com port)
-Speed(I use 38400)
-Done
-Done
-Create Game
-Session Name(type any name)
-Player Name(type any name)
*-New Game
*If nothing happens when you hit New Game go back to Properties. Either you chose the wrong com port or speed. Don't worry you won't screw anything up by selecting the wrong settings so you can experiment. The usual problem is Speed. I started out @ 115k and came down in increments 'til(38400) it worked. Your system may support more or less.
The upper left slot(big checkmark) is your main character slot.
-Create Character
-Import(select character from list)
-Appearance -done
-Sound -done
-Name -done
-Accept
Repeat in the other slots going left top to right bottom. You don't have to fill all the slots. Click on all the check marks next to your characters.
**-Done
**IMPORTANT ITEM SAFETY TIP**
If you wish to start the game with ***all your items from your previous game you need to follow the steps below.
Prior to exporting your main character give all his/her items to one of the other characters prior to exporting them.
Go through the above proceedure for starting a multi-player game. When you start your new game only import your "naked" main character. Go through the initial Irenicus/ Imoen sequence. Save the game as soon as you can. Quit the game and load that saved game adding your other characters. Transfer your items back to your main character and go kick some tail.
***Gem bags, Scroll cases, & the items there in don't transfer over so don't leave anything in them that you want.
Hope this helps.
