I'm in the Temple with Firkraag and I am fighting the most awesome advesary I have met yet, a pack of Greater Werewolves. I am currently a 17th level Kensai/Mage and I've summoned 2 Mordenkainen's Swords and 2 Skeleton Warriors to help in the battle and we have killed all but one. This one Greater Werewolf regenerates faster than we can hit it and we are all hasted. We have hit this thing for over 100hps at a time and it gets all the way down to NEAR DEATH and the next second it is back to UNINJURED. My question then is, what the Hell is going on here!?! Is this a glitch or is the game OVER-COMPENSATING for my advanced level? Your thoughts?

(BTW Firkraag was wayyy too easy)

dunno if you are right in that point; I had similar problems with the greater wolfwere and it took me several times to slay him, managed it by letting ALL of my members attack him (even the closecombat experts aerie and nalia ;)). was a tough one, though

Heh, heh, that reminds me of that Kuo-Toa Prince...

**** Possible Spoiler ****

You were supposed to poison his regenerating ability with the tainted tadpoles, but I encountered him before the tainted pool, and just had everybody hack on him. After the first round he turned chicken and bolted, but I had the door blocked with Aerie and Imoen shooting stuff at him. Eventually we trapped him in a corner an hacked him to pieces! :) It sure took a while with him running all over the place though! :D

Nah, it's a bug. I never had problem one with any of them in Firkrag's dungeon or anyplace else for that matter and I wasn't near the level he was at.

I was thinking that it was a bug but now I'm thinking that it's not. Extremist has a few words to say on the subject, and it looks like he's probably right.

It is NOT A BUG!

I suggest you concentrate ALL your NPCs to kill the bastard. Also do equip weapons that give you best THAC0, not best damage, because those bastards are immune only to normal weapons. That means you can nail 'em with +1 weapons if you combine them good. Also, don't forget some Oil of Speed or Haste spell!

There's also one thing that overrides their regeneration - draining their stats!
Ever heard of Haer'Dalis and Chaos Blade?
That blade drains 2 points of dexterity with each successful hit (duration: 30 seconds). Gr. Wolfwere has DEX 19 and AC 2. Oh, yeah, Haer'Dalis sux according to majority on these boards...

Ahhh, and don't forget Limited Wish spell with option to be anything you want - you just then choose to polymorph into Mind Flayer and Greater Wolfwere will be down in no time under lack of INT! ;)

To Crawl: You have to be HIGH LEVEL to see Greater Wolfwere. That means you've NEVER seen it. Read the link ikzelion posted.

BTW Extremist, check the dates on all the posts apart from yours and ikzelion's. I would hope that he would have solved this problem by now.....

:D :heh:

Oh yeah, and Haer-Dalis Rocks!!!! :D :heh:

That prince was indeed a pain in the posterior. I never had any problems with the Greater Wolfweres (I was more hassled by the adamantite (sp?) golem guarding the spiffy longbow. In my naive days when I was ignorant of the Lower Resistance spell, natch). Haer'Dalis is great. Well; that was a lesson in less-than-helpful concurrence...

You should be able to defeat that thing easily just by concentrating all attacks on it (and maybe a few spells). Never forget haste, spells like draw upon holy power and use your kai ability, it will help alot ;) . Also just for interests sake Cernd can shapeshift into a greater werewolf which is even stronger than that greater wolfwere you are facing (but he must be at least 13th level).

Cheers, Void.

Greater werewolf can't even scratch greater wolfwere, ok?

Hmm, I always do that quest really early and get wussy wolf things. Now my question is, at low levels are they just normal wolfweres, a wolfwere's weaker cousin the werewolf, or a dumbed down greater wolfwere a la the vampire from Irenicus' dungeon that can be killed by normal weapons.

Ok sorry, I just assumed beacause the g-werewolf had better stats.

Cheers, Void.

Ironbeard, I just went through there with a level 9 ranger and had to fight 3 greater werewolves. Infinitely easier than the 5 or so greater wolfweres found later on.
