Hello

Since I noticed there are custom kits avaible, I would like to create my own, just for personal use.
So I am wondering if there are any guides to creating a custom kit. Anything that might help me?

Thanks

Deano99: Yeah. I get the feeling it's not PC (heh) nowadays. I have *no* idea what everyone's malfunction is, concerning IEEp.

Sentry: There's an editor which used to be available on teambg. I don't know if it's back up. It's called the Infinity Engine Editor Pro. With it, I can't think of anything you cannot do. New items, new areas, new dialogues, or just simple editing of what's already there. If you do manage to get ahold of the program,

<whisper> keep quiet about it, and use it like crazy. </whisper>

Well, I got the program... But I'm not sure how to create kits.

You'll have to mess around with it, quite a bit. There's a few example files that you can snag, which will walk through some really basic stuff like item/spell creation.

Yeah.. but I only want to create a kit :) Nothing else...

While we're on this subjuect, could someone explain how to use the IEEP? The help file is not readable for some reason.

send me an e-mail or something...
please.

Jack-of-all-trades: Can you be more specific? What are you wanting to do? I've messed around with items quite a bit. I've touched a few of the spells, but not really created any new ones.

You don't necessarily need that godawful IEEP program to create new kits. Creating a new kit mainly involves editing a heap of 2DA files, although if you want to add new innate abilities and the like you will need IEEP. The main utilities you need are Infinity Explorer or Near Infinity in order to extract the relevant 2DA files and something to edit the DIALOG.TLK file - prbably IEEP but there are alternatives.

There was a tutorial on the Web about kit creation that I downloaded once but the site has now been shutdown (drizzt1180.homestead.com), I can email it to you if you want.

Actually IEEP is useless for new kits.

You need KitEditor by TeamBG. Then it's quite simple.

instead of discussing all this here, why not do so on TeamBG?

that's what it's there for... and i am sure the MODs here have had quite enough of all this stuff. :D

but basically he'll need both the KitEditor and IEEP (in order to make the effects that are applied). anyway...

When you're done with kit creation, post it. I'll explain you how to hex edit the Infinity Engine files and import your kit inside.

Well here is my "beta" kit. Suggestions welcome. It's somewhat the kind of an assasin I picture... I really didn't like the original one.

Shadow Assasin: This is a special Shadow
Thief, a killer trained in discreet and
efficient murder, relying on anonymity,
suprise, flexebility, reflexes and agility
to perform his task. He or she may get a
good reaction from other NPCs since
he/she is an assasin.

Advantages
- May coat his/her weapon in poison once per
day per 4 levels. The next hit with that
weapon will inject poison into the target,
dealing out 1 damage per second for 24
seconds (3 damage for the first 6 seconds).
A saving throw vs. poison limits damage to
12 total.
- Bonus +1 to hit and +1 damage
- May advance to mastery for dagger,
short sword and katana
- May become proficient with any other
weapons he/she may use
- Bonus +2 to Dexterity
- May place 2 slots in single weapon style

Disadvantages
- Only 15% per level to distribute on
abilities
- May only use short swords, daggers,
katanas and short bows
- May not place any slots in other fighting
styles
- Penalty -1 to constitution
- Penalty -2 to charisma
- Penalty -1 to strenght

Using info from my site as I suspect ?

If so then I demand no cheating tricks in such utility as I have written in IESDP.

I bow down in front on one and only person I really believe that kicks ass when topic is Infinity Engine!

IESDP? I don't know what is it.
I visited your place long ago. Actually I was proposed to remove an effect of Cloak of Mirroring in ToB. I wanted to see why people don't like existing solution on your site. I haven't read other contents of the site. Anyway, I never managed to deal the SPMAGGLO effect with leaving the spell untouched. Perhaps in future...

What cheating tricks? I am main cheat hater on this board as you can see from many of my posts. Why would I include something like that?
Besides, cheaters mainly use ShadowKeeper. Some of them use the console. Whatever.
Ah, btw, would you please take a peek on my old post about console in BG2 here? I bet there is some info you haven't seen before ;) http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum2/HTML/003403.html

And finally, the main reason I know you and respect you and only you from the site I can't speak of: there is your special topic on wavc creating. Man, that IS indeed something I knew nothing of. Thank you.

And of course, WELCOME on SP! I hope to see you here more regulary.

Thanks

ok, I will look there if I can find any new info........

As for IESDP...... this is no longer located on my Worldzone site since it is too big to be maintained by their site manager...

www.teambg.net/iesdp (http://www.teambg.net/iesdp) - it is under reconstruction lately, but there is still possibility to read information.

I do not appreciate any form of cheating , that was only my remainder that I would tell any programmer/editor since I don't want to be responsible for next cheating reason in MP IE games.....

This is just bad memory from my Diablo MP times.

Id say remove the specialization in katanas as they arent really a backstabbing kinda weapon (I know that on special katana *CAN* be used for backstabbing but that soesnt mean that you sould IMO) and limit the specialization to daggers and short swords *ONLY*. Just my opinion.

I've been thinking about that and I think you're right... :)

EDIT:
Advantages:
- May coat his/her weapon in poison once per day per 4 levels. The next hit with that weapon will inject poison into the target, dealing out 1 damage per second for 24 seconds (3 damage for the first 6 seconds). A saving throw vs. poison limits damage to 12 total.
- Bonus +1 to hit and +1 damage
- May advance to mastery (+++) for daggers and short swords
- May become proficient with short bow
- Bonux +2 to dexterity
- May place two slots in 'single weapon fighting style'
- Bonus +20 to 'hide in shadows'

Disadvantages:
- Only 15% per level to distribute on abilities
- May only use daggers, short swords and short bows
- May not place any slots in other 'fighting styles'
- Penalty -1 to strenght
- Penalty -1 to constitution
- Penalty -2 to charisma

I also think your assassin kit would work well if it had an added backstab bonus. Something more than your average thief. That's how i always pictured the assassin, hide in the shadows then take down their enemies in one hit by suprise.
