I've gone thru the game twice now as a fighter and a bounty hunter and have yet to find a use for the art dealer in Waukeen's Promenade. Anyone know what to do with him? I believe his name is Quataris.

View Full Version : Art Dealer. Any quest uses? Anra Sun, 3rd Dec '00, 11:49pm I've gone thru the game twice now as a fighter and a bounty hunter and have yet to find a use for the art dealer in Waukeen's Promenade. Anyone know what to do with him? I believe his name is Quataris. Lord Moeken Mon, 4th Dec '00, 8:31pm I've never completed the associated quest, but isn't there a priest in the temple of Helm who is looking for some art? I'll have to check it out. Thaumas Tue, 5th Dec '00, 2:17am He's not associated with that quest. Doomlord Tue, 5th Dec '00, 4:34am Anra it isn't strange that he is not associated with any quest. This is a RPG game remember? So it is roleplaying and everyone who has a "name" (other than peasant or nobleman) don't necessarily have to have a quest. This is just another reason why Torment is a better RPG game than BG2 'cause it feels far more convincing not to get quests from everyone you talk to. gabiboy Tue, 5th Dec '00, 2:45pm Doomlord, i really agree with you about Torment and about the roleplaying thing, But it seems that BG2 is a RPG 'for everyone': plenty of things to do (items, magics, classes, quest, lots of useless xp, etc.), but lot of void and meaningless thing for a real roleplay experience. It's hard to say, but i think that in BG 2, every guy with a name has a quest because there's a lot of ways to play through the game (playing with diferents classes, NPC (Jaheira, Cernd or Anomen are good exemples), Strongholds (quests are differents), etc..). Note that i haven't said "diferent ways to 'ROLEPLAY' the game" but "diferent ways to PLAY the game"..... and it's REALLY not the same thing. Yes, I think that BGII is not a RPG but a 'standard-classic-for everyone-littlebitofmarketing' RPG. This is why Torment is better imo, there's is less void, less meaningless things to do and much more experience. (send insults at interplay@MarketingService.com :) ) Anra Tue, 5th Dec '00, 5:09pm He must have something to do with a quest. I found this in Shadowkeeper. "Quataris' Confession"-----------This scroll contains a brief confession written by Quataris. You can use this confession to have Haer'Dalis cleared. The scroll reads like this: "I, Quataris, do hearby swear that I have, with Malice and Forethought, framed one Haer'Dalis for the Theft of a certain Bust of Sune. I obtained the services of one Janos to steal the Bust for me. In doing so, he took the Appearance of Haer'Dalis and, without my knowledge or consent, most foully Murdered the Owner of the Bust, the gentleman Acton Balthis. I swear the Events within this Letter to be True and Clear." The scroll is signed in the cramped quill-work of Quataris. Blackthorne TA Tue, 5th Dec '00, 5:12pm Heh, heh... Well it looks like you answered your own question. I guess not many people have seen this quest since not many keep Haer Dalis :) [This message has been edited by Blackthorne TA (edited December 05, 2000).] Sylvus Moonbow Tue, 5th Dec '00, 7:08pm Damn. I was going to start a rumour that it was for the expansion due out in January. Now I can't! :) Syl... Septic Yogurt Tue, 5th Dec '00, 9:49pm Hmm, Its actually going to expand on the whole thing in the second expansion due in april. Anra Tue, 5th Dec '00, 10:27pm I heard that Syl cracked the basic codes and is at this very moment hard at work on a unauthorized Mod that allows you to do all the stuff that NWN is supposed to be able to do when it comes out in 2003 or so. |
