View Full Version : Imoen Question
Jci Mon, 25th Sep '00, 3:20pm This may be a dumb question:
Imoen's thief experience does not have a 'next level' indicator. Does this means she is done with thief levels? Her open locks have been invaluable.
Serg_IS Mon, 25th Sep '00, 3:36pm She's DUAL-CLASS, so her primary profession is unavailable to develop.
Sylvus Moonbow Mon, 25th Sep '00, 3:52pm She's a mage now, which isn't a bad thing, but also isn't a good thing because of the way her theif skills have been arranged. It would have been better if we could have arranged those points ourselves because 25% for hide in shadows is lame and she's useless to me now in BG2. She owned in BG1 because I created a dual classed NPCs that could move in the shadows undetected and cast spells from those shadows then hide again. They killed her in BG2 in my opinion.

Taluntain Mon, 25th Sep '00, 9:11pm Heh, all the yammer about how Imoen is cool as a mage but now everyone agrees that she sucks this way.
Dumb move, Bioware. The only reason I'd keep her in the party now is for the sake of nostalgia.
BLEH!
Sylvus Moonbow Tue, 26th Sep '00, 4:02am It happens. Her hype was built up on the fact that she was returning, a very favorite character from BG1 and that kind of clouded the issue. I was very happy she was returning and of course, as a dual class to how I had created her in BG1. When I finally got a chance to play her how I had in BG1, everything changed on me!
No longer could I easily turn a corner, hide and scout ahead. Now it was, turn a corner and fail, all the time! What good was having her pick locks and detect traps for in that dungeon? The only real threat of a major trap was the one that used those wands, and you could disarm them by using the keys anyhow!
Sorry to say, her abilities were laid out wrong for me and my once praised review has turned around for the worse.

Headbanger Thu, 31st May '01, 3:37pm I think they turned her to a mage to early... When she had better thief-stats, she wouldn't be that bad... but you can increase things like Hide in Shadows with cloaks/armor/boots... In my opninion, she is still cool, a mage with Gesen Bow and CF!
Cause of the topic: What happens if: you kill Imoen, I did a little search and came to this topic wich I found interesting so I replied in it. I think I'm not the only one who never saw this topic.

Nobleman Thu, 31st May '01, 3:46pm STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP IT GUYS AND GALS!!!!!
First Think of it how much is 40.000 xp? Not a lot Right. For 40.000 xp You get a mage that can shoot a bow, wear armor. Disarm traps. Open locks. Use numerous weapons also some that have protections Vs. Charm, confusion, fear etc. More hp. This is well worth the 40,000 xp. So stop Mock her. She must be seen as a cool mage. Not a poor thief.
First time since I joined I'll put this face on
Of Course followed by a
:p

jester1137 Thu, 31st May '01, 3:49pm eh, theres no reason she couldn't have entered your party the first time with a level up icon and all of her thief skill free for you to distribute. I scout invisibly and use nothing on silent/hide in shadows.
just a tiny bit of extra programing would have made SO many people happy. oh well, by the time I get her she'll be too far behind to keep.
Headbanger Thu, 31st May '01, 4:06pm Nobleman, you're right. Her thiefskills aren't superb but indeed you got a mage that can use short bow and katana, instead of 40000 XP (a few times level up)
Maybe I'll start a new character in BG1, and Dual Class here inmediatly so you get a good fighter/mage. I wish i would be possible to create a swashbuckler in BG1, then you had a nice fighter/mage.
