Does anyone know a site where I can get the BG2 portraits (large and small)?

You mean the in-game ones? What do you need them for?

Gawd... how about checking Sorcerer's Place?
http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_editors.htm

or
http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_misc.htm

At the latter there's a big picture made out of all portraits from the game.

Posts like that really piss me off. You have a whole site chock full of BG2 stuff backing these boards but STILL posts like that keep popping up.

P.S.
Sorry to whoever posted the link to Ironworks here, but that is one site I will not tolerate linking to here. They have plundered Sorcerer's Place of all Torment material, had it up on their site for half a year and then deleted the whole section as if nothing ever happened. I still have the e-mails from the dork over there who did it saved (he admits the whole thing in them).

But then again I wasn't the only one they've stolen stuff from. Heh, they practically copy/pasted half of The Pit's info and a lot of other stuff from other sites like DBT as well. (I'm not talking bull here, I actually talked about this with all webmasters of the sites mentioned above since we all know each other).

Heh, I'm saving the best for the last here. There's more but since I haven't said anything about this publicly before I'll let my comments above be enough for now.
I've had enough bad memories rekindled for one day.

Taluntain...I know it's early in the morning, but you really just need to relax.

What do I need it for? Not that it's any of your business, but I wanted to use Yoshimo's portrait in a new BG1 game.

As for all that schma about there being a site full of links to yada yada... Nobody put a gun to your head and made you respond to my question. Yes, if I invested some time searching, I would probably have found them, but what's the harm in saving myself some time by asking the typically friendly members (and administrators) of this board to help me out real quick?

So, please, go outside and light up. That nicotine gum just isn't working for the irritability withdrawal.

You tell 'em Sminnis. I think Sorcerer's public relation skills are pretty poor and he should let me handle the message boards, as I am the nice one out of the barrel! :D
(Oh put a sock in it Sorcerer, I'm just playing around :)

Although, I can see his frustration. You have message boards here tied to www.sorcerers.net (http://www.sorcerers.net) which has loads of content and information that many post looking for. Then comes a post taking the reader away from the content found here and directing them to another site. Unknowing to this reader of the message boards, he is oblivious to the content he could have found if he had simply looked on the site he was posting on in the first place!

Sorcerer has put a lot of work into the original content that is found here, has unlimited drive space and is constantly looking to better your gaming experience with information, downloads and postive message boards.

Oh and Sorcerer, there are other sites out there and ignoring them won't help. I won't discuss the issues you have with some of the sites that have stolen your content and original information and your views of them are your own, but at least lets keep the message boards open minded.

The whole point of them is to share information and help those who are looking for help. You know where you stand in the gaming information highway. Rather than words typed bashing them, let the content on your site do the talking.

Well said !!!!!!!

No matter where else I go on the web I always end back here.
It's just like a good pub where the people are friendly and the crack (atmosphere) is just great.

So here's to Sorcerer's place.

I agree! I always end up here... And I for one start at the top of sorcerers.net and work my way down to the boards.

I enjoy the coversations more on these boards as well... the boards at that unmentionable place strike me as a little too juvenile for the most part (at least for my taste)...

Hehe, thanks for the support guys. You're the best.

Sminnis, I was merely asking why you need them so I can figure out how to help you for God's sake. You turn it into a freaking invasion of privacy fiasco.

Sylvus explained it all before I could reply so I won't reiterate here for the probably 10th time in the last two months.

And a note to you Syl as well... I never ignore other sites out there. Why do you think I link to so many of them and to the works of some? I know the webmasters of practically all of the similar fansites for the games Sorcerer's Place covers and we're all on very friendly terms. Heck, we're a lot more connected than you imagine but I guess you can't know that since this is all going on behind the scenes so to say.

I only have a problem with the above mentioned site. No others. (and there are plenty other good ones out there). And if I have a problem with it and explain why with some very valid reasons then most (if not all) people can understand why I'm a bit pissed.

By the way sminnis, I always point people who ask in the right direction, but usually it's always to a page at Sorcerer's Place. If I put a sigh in the text then maybe, just MAYBE the guy who posted it will next time check the site FIRST before asking here and getting directed to another site for the exact same thing he could've found here.
That's all there is to it.

So can I start up my own AD&D RPG Gaming Site and use everything from your site?

Sure, if you have a death wish pinned to your to-do schedule as well. :p

Okay! Okay! "UNCLE"!

In retrospect, I was perhaps a bit on the defensive. Let's just say it was a pre-java post.

But, to be fair, I should point out that when I *did* go to the portrait link in Sorcerer's, I downloaded 130+ portraits and had to check them one at a time. And guess what...no Yoshi. This is what I'm talking about with the whole "time" issue. If someone has a simple question about where to find something, I really can't see any harm in asking. I can't count how many times I've seen someone post a question on where to find Shadowkeeper, and I for one have never been offended by the question.

So, let's agree to disagree and call it a truce.

(to whoever posted the link to the ironworks again, I hope it was a joke... really I hope that you aren't so stupid as to not understand what we were discussing 10 posts above).

sminnis: Oh sure. I'm not one to hold a grudge. ;)
But if you read my post CAREFULLY you'd also look in the Misc section where there's a wallpaper with portraits of all NPCs on it. It'd take you 5 minutes to cut Yoshi out. But then again so would taking a screenshot of it in the game and cutting it out I suppose. So I guess you don't know how to or you don't feel like doing it?

I personally liked the early one of Yoshi much better... Here, just for you I uploaded it to the site at http://www.sorcerers.net/NYOSHIML.jpg

But if you still want the one that goes with the game so much and don't know how to extract it from that wallpaper yourself I can take the time and do it for ya.

Err, doesn't the collector's CD (IWD content) have the portraits or something?

Thu, 2nd Nov '00, 12:13pm
Yes, the full one does...
But not the rip version of it that was posted here on the boards for everyone to download...

Well, I do have to admit that there are a lot of portraits on sorcerers.net, but, the guy didn't do a very good job on the small pictures. He just shrunk the picture instead of zooming in on the head; not to mention, the pictures weren't that great. They worked. What I am really looking for are some GOOD sound files. My friend happened to find the voices from Torment and those are awesome, but other than that, nothing much.

Well you can try the Dragonheart one I uploaded to the site in the bg2 editors, hacks etc. section if you haven't already...
