I´m trying to decide wich one to bring. I´m a paladin, and of Lawful Good alignment. Viconia can´t fall in love with you if you are LG?
And does Jaheira get any good later on, or is she pretty bad the whole game? (Viconia´s Wis. rock!)

Love rules! ;)
So being LG doesn't stop Viconia from having a romance with a paladin.
I think the Jaheira romance involves more things and ultimately is more rewarding if you play for many, many days. <hint ;)>
The Viconia romance on the other hand has it's own rewards and all the girls have very different personalities.

Oh, what do you mean with
"... does Jaheira get any good later..."
Her stats does not change and IMO Viconia is a stronger/better NPC than Jaheira.

You are Lawfull GOod so you can better choose Jaheira then Viconia, Good and Evil don't fit together. But if you're one of the people who's sick of all that love affairs, I would say, get Viconia and you don;t have that problems anymore.

To answer the 'does Jaheira get any good'. There have been a few discussions about this as many people seem to think Jaheira is a poor NPC. Of course, like all NPCs it really depends on what party mix you are using and how you use the specifc NPC in question. For me I found Jaheira to be one of the most useful NPCs in the game when I was a Sorcerer because of her ability to hold the line. So here is a qucik summary of what makes her good:

- She can have an AC of about -13 with her high dexterity and ability to wear all armour. This combined with the Ironskins spell means she can sit at the front of the group soaking up attacks while the rest of your party does the damage.
- She has access to some useful weapons that don't suit other NPCs - some good clubs, spears, staffs and the scimitar that has an extra attack per round.
- she is a natural with a sling. There are several very good slings in the game especially the one with the strength bonus (if you combine it with the next point). With the extras CD you also get a +5 sling that needs no ammo. All of these can be used while still holding a shield.
- give her one of the many strength boosting items and her Thaco becomes OK.
- she can cast the insect swarm type spells that are great against enemy wizards.
- she has all the healing, resurrect, etc spells to act as the party medic.
- she gets to summon monsters to support you without having all that silly 'mental combat' rubbish that affects Mages trying the same thing.
- she has the most interesting romance of the game (personal opion of course).
- she provides access to all of the harper quests leading to a meeting with a famous person and access to a useful Jaheira only item.

Uh. yeah, sorry about beeing unclear... What I meant about "does she get any better later" was ´cause I need a good cleric or druid. If I wanted a fighter I could choose Korgan instead (wich I have done now by the way). I wondered if she got some special ability later on, but it seems that´s not the case. I´m also giving Viconia Girdle of Hill Giant strength and she will be able to use the best armours and shields/weapons in the game ...

(btw. I´m taking Korgan, Viconia and Edwin with me in my group even if I´m a Paladin ... hmmm.. Perhaps my char. is trying to reverse them or something and that´s why he brings ´em along) :D

Oh, and Slappy: What extra CD?

The 'Bonus & Collector's Edition CD Merchants'. You can get everthing that was on the cd from a small download in the Sorcerer's BG2 ediors section:
http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_editors2.htm

PS you're playing a complicated game taking all those evil aligned NPCs with a Paladin. Remember they will leave if your Party Reputation gets too high and you will lose your Pladin status and powers if it drops too much.

Melkhior, well, you can always become a fallen paladin later on, so your alignment match your party, hehehe =)

how do you become a fallen paladin and what are the differences(does he have any decent benefits???)

You become a fallen paladin when you do things that decrease your reputation.

About Viconia/Jaheira: Don't look at the skills of both girls only. Look at who fits best in your party, for a little less good character isn't such annoying as a much complaining caracter.

Jaheira is a great NPC - she can have a good AC and she is a pretty good tank either. Additionally she has some cool spells a cleric doesn´t has. The romance is pretty complex and lengthy. It is nice as long as it wporks but pretty difficult sometimes.

Viconia, on the other hand is not only a "hottie" (courtesy of Sir Bel), she is also an excellent cleric with her wis-18. She can have a good AC either.

Both are very useful - since you play good Jaheira should be good choice for a romance.

hehe, thanks for all the answering guys. I´d like to drop by and tell you that I´ve made both of them angry with me, so no one will love my char. no more :)
But, that´s the way of life and I´ve got a feeling that a paladin and a drow elf with evil alignment would fit.
As for who best fitted in my party it was Viconia since she´s got the ability to heal level drains. And I hate Vampires!!

why can't you have one with nalia?

Ragusa
Fri, 1st Jun '01, 10:43pm
For there is no romance with nalia implemented in the game, just as there is none with Mazzy *sob*
