Hi,

I'm not very far into the game, only just made it to 9th level Cavalier - and decided to head off to the Windspear Hills to sort that out (mistakenly thinking it was an easy-ish quest, help me build up some experience before I met anything really hard).

So now I find myself facing about half a dozen vampires, which I can take out but not without being horribly level-drained - and I have no "restoration"-type spells. I've also just been told that there's a dragon in here, and I get the feeling I'll get well and truly slaughtered if I miraculously survive long enough to face him.

Worst thing is, I saved the game near the start of the Windspear bit - saving over my only other saved game.

What I'm wondering is this: is it realistic for me to complete this quest at this time? Is there any way of removing level drain from a vampire without knowing restoration etc. (if the answer is "no" then I think that also answers the first question). Or, if I simply leave the Windspear Hills before going any further, will I be able to return later, and will this action have any effect on things (bearing in mind that whole "setup" thing killing the knights at the start)? I can't just go back to a previous saved game (as I wiped it, silly me), and I really don't want to start over again.

Thanks in advance for any help, I usually hate any kind of spoiler etc. but I'm rather stuck here (I'm also stuck at work thinking about it, thought you kind peeps might help :))

You can comeback at a later time dont worry :) I would buy a few of the restoration spells also just to remove the drain effects for future use. Also the chapter 2 city quests are easier and will get you ready and build you up so I would do some of them 1st and then go back and finish that area. I stayed on chapter 2 and did all the city quests i could find till I hit lvl 11. This way I was able to save 150k of gold and have nice equipment before taking on the harder quests.
