when u look at the world map, im on the rock at the end of the river between the city of Baldur's Gate and the cloak wood area. im supposed to get some dudes cloak but there are three dudes that hard 4 me 2 kill and the guy's name is Shandalor or something like that. how do u get off the island (besides killing them), what is it called and maybe some overall info on what to do. thanx 4 all that help

If you got sent there from Ulgolth's Beard then you're on the Ice Island that techniclly should be on the world map 'cos it's nowhere near the sword coast.
The only way off the island is getting the cloak, and the main monsters on the isle are mages with a couple of ankeg's and winter wolves, so use fast missile weapons to disrupt spell casting, get fighters into melee and cut them down. A couple of favourite spells of thiers are confusion, horror and dire charm, so you might want a couple of people with disel magic to get rid of the effects of them.

i beat the dudes like u said i should but it took a couple of tries, now which way should i go? which way is the fastest way to the cloak he wants? thanx again

Well, if you want XP and possibly some magic items, clear the area out starting with the south corridors from the room with the first three mages, usig a thief a little ahead of the party to get rid of annoying traps especially the lightning bolt ones. then to get to guy with Shandalar's cloak, take the passage north from the room with the first three mages of the map area and round to west, again checking for traps and killing anything with a red circle around it's feet. Eventually you'll come to the most north westerly point in the small map and the guy with the cloack is there, just kill him like the rest of the derranged mages in this map and exit. It's a pretty quick map/quest to do, just save often in case of something major happening and always watch out for traps, even right beside bad guys.
