Some weapons have it high and some low bit it seems to me that my char. is equally fast with both? Zorith Tue, 5th Feb '02, 7:00pm I am guessing that you have never played PnP AD&D? Not that it matters:spin:. The speed factor relates to the weapons ease of use. The smaller and lighter the weapon, the faster one is able to use it. Which in turn gives the lower speed factor rating. If you have a heavy axe or hammer it will take longer to swing it around then a thief sticking you in the back with a dagger. Therefor, the person with the lower number will go first in the round as compared with someone with a slower(higher #) weapon. Hope this helps you.:spin: creudzfeldt-jakob Wed, 6th Feb '02, 2:45am Hmmmm . . . what is the case with two weapons with the same speed factor? Gnolyn Lochbreaker Wed, 6th Feb '02, 2:52am Speed factor is used to modify each combatant's Initiative roll - in the 2nd edition Pen and Pencil game, every combatant makes an Initiative roll to determine the order of combat actions. In the Baldur's Gate game these rolls are made by the computer, which then calculates initiative and combat order. They happen behind the scenes, so you don't notice them. Of course, I'm *assuming* that the computer replicates this function ;) So when two weapons with the same speed factor are involved, there's still the element of chance (the die roll). |
