I escaped Irenicus' dungeon and some gray robed clowns took Irenicus with Imoen! Well, there's this guy who claims he knows how to get Imoen back for 20,000 gold!!! I'm not sure if this is a scam or not. Anyway, I'm now trying to accomplish a task for Edwin.

Yes.... Beginners shoudn't put it on insane, as they make things too difficult.
No scam, Shadow Thieves are most trustable thing in the Whole game.
gray robed clowns? what do mean by clowns? they are Super-High level mages called Cowled Wizards.
I'd also ask about your Protagonist,and NPCs.

I dropped Edwin's task for later. Now, I am trying to bust some heretic cult in the Temple district.
So far I have had problems with these things:

1. In Edwin's quest, how do you kill Stone Golems!? They're weapon ineffective and Magic Resistant. I used Anomen's Spritual hammer and tried the Hit-and-run-downstairs technique I use in BG1 but they followed me down and slaughtered my whole party!

2. Where do I find Ployer(that freak who cursed Jaheira)? I went to the guy in the Copper Coronet and he said I can look for him at the east end of the slums. But, no Ployer. I went to the Gov. District and one of Ployer's goons showed up and told me he didn't like Ployer and he and his mages wouldn't show up when we confront Ployer for 2000 gold! I dropped it to 500 and made a deal.

(Is it a scam? Hard to trust people nowadays)

3. I found lots of locked stuff in Athkatla and I want to pickpocket people. I'm in desperate need of a good thief. Where can I find one?

4. Finding some Valygar guy who some guy in the Gov. District wants arrested.

5. $, $ and more $

6. Using Magic. (those cowled clowns come and I have no choice but to re-load.)

@Chickavalier I call those wizards clowns because
they me laugh with hate when I accidentally use magic.

Marcus_Giden
Thu, 5th May '05, 9:19am
Well, in the building where you met Tolgerias, the Cowled Wizard who wants you to find Valygar Corthalar, you can actually talk to a guy who is responsible for the licenses for magic users.

What this guy needs, is a fat bribe, so see to that you have some money with you if you want to be legal and un-interrupted in your magi-casting.

Chickavalier
Thu, 5th May '05, 11:16am
1.you need magical weapons to hit it(+2?) and must be blunt weapon.
2.you can find him in the Slums, in the Derilict house
3.Jan. you can find him in the Government district.
he's nearby the council of six.(best Thief!)
Imoen. you can get her back later
yoshimo. one you get in prison.
4.he can be found in Uma hills. after that he's in the Docks.
5.I recommend:
1.De'arnise keep(Nalia Quest)
2.Trademeet
3.Uuma hills
6.you can buy "Licence" with 5000 gold. cowled wizard(clones!) in the council of six will give it to you. you only need one for whole party.
7. about clones: each time you meet them accidently, just kill them(very hard for beginners)and get xp.(and do they drop scrolls?)
Questions:
What party do you have, Mr/Mrs Dark Slayer?

Shrikant
Thu, 5th May '05, 4:16pm
I find no problems hitting those golems with +3 weapons.
Go back to the slums and trawl the derelict houses to the east. He should be there now.
Try Jan Jensen from the Government District. Cover the whole area. He will talk to you automatically.
Have you tried Valygar's house in the Docks. You will find clues there.
Go to the D'Arnise Keep. Loads of :$$:

@Chick: What clones?

Deuce
Thu, 5th May '05, 6:19pm
Quick clarification on Golems: Stone require any +2 or better Enchantment weapon, Clay require +1 or better Enchantment Blunt weapons (Mace, Club, Flail, Morning Star, Staff or Hammer).

unusual foods etc. Damn Isshy! :lol: You just gave away the whole plot there :shake:
I like that part. Strays are a menace. Strays given names by girls with 8 year old's brains are worse.

DS, Imoen is the girl for you. You already have one (Aerie) multiclassed mage. Two (Jan) wont be a good idea. Imoen, who is dualed to a mage will get the higher spells faster.
Dont pick a thief straight away. You dont really need them all the time, only on a few quests. You can almost always come back to loot.

Have you invested in a good pair of ear muffs already? :lol:

Edit: He's also hillarious. :D

Chickavalier
Fri, 6th May '05, 1:20pm
@Shrikant
You really need thief. not because of lock picking, but major reason is traps. you can't possibly run over trap and say: "ok, I'll disarm it later" and you forget and run over again.and if you get thief too late i'll make huge difference in Level. if you loot too late, i'll be just waste of time(I hate it!). and also, thieves get special abillity:Backstabbing! it's wonderful mage-killer.
And what strays?

Isshy
Fri, 6th May '05, 8:01pm
Shrikant: Well I didn't give spoilers...just hints I think, and I said nothing directly about the plot!

I agree with Chickavalier that you need a thief but I prefer Yoshimo over Jan. Love those special traps. Plus it's a waste of time going back to an area just to loot when you could've/should've done it the first time you were there. Without a thief you may not be able to open doors/pick locks and might miss some good or important stuff!

All right, I cleared de'Arnise keep to get what? 650 gold from Nalia! (though some items I found made big bucks) I expected more after all I've done! Killing that troll boss (TorGal, was it?) was hard, you know?!

Whatever, I cleared Windspear hills of disguised paladins and now, I'm looking for that bozo who offered me 10,000 gold if I took care of some ogres.
(I forget a lot of names! I think it was Jierdan Firekaag or something) and most likely kill him for kidnapping a innocent person and messing with me. Where can I find this guy?

There is a dungeon in the Northeast Corner. He is in there. But be careful, everything is not what it seems...
If you want gold, do the Unseeing Eye quest in temple district. And also working for Renal Bloodscalp (He is in an orange building in the docks district) is profitable

Shrikant
Sat, 7th May '05, 6:31pm
Oh oh. You didnt take Nalia along did you. That is a bug which seems to have cropped up lately on XP comps. If you dont take Nalia along, she gives you only a pathetic amount as reward. The real reward amount, which you get if she is in your party when you exit from the keep after killing Torgal, is nearer to 10,000GP. Generally finishing the keep and selling unwanted items would net you enough to start chapter 3.

Firekaag ... :evil: So how was it? Did you go Fcuk! when you met him :lol:

Marcus_Giden

The Empathic Manifestation is the guardian in the temple where you retrieve a piece of a certain artifact involved in the Unseeing Eye-quest.

Chickavalier
Tue, 10th May '05, 9:27am
@Dark Slayer
you are misunderstanding things. paladins are not disguised, but transformed. paladins don't/can't go around turning to ogre,wyvern, etc and pillige places.
and have you paid him?(the guy who wants 20000 gold)
and do Firkragg quest first. it is one of best quest ever(for paladins) and profitable. it'll make life much easier.
@Marcus_Giden
What temple? do you mean temple of Helm? I've never met him/her when I was doing unseeing eye

Dark Slayer
Tue, 10th May '05, 9:44am
Okay, I finished the Unseeing Eye quest, got 6000 gp and a mace as a reward. I met Gaelan Bayle and he dropped th price to 15,000 instead. So, I paid the man and got a key from him. Now, I'm in the Firkragg quest. I got attacked by a Ruhk Transmuter and a few Kamikaze Kobolds. I escaped the transmuter and killed myself some orc archers.

I was amazed at how quickly Anomen killed 2 stone golems with nothing more than casting Spiritual Hammer, Draw Upon Holy Might and Magic Resistance. I'm now having troubles with the few Vampires just ahead.

The Empathic Manifestation is the 'demon' you kill by healing, where you get part of the rod.
@ DS
The cleric spell Sunray works wonders with undead, also try the cleric ability 'turn undead'.

Chickavalier
Wed, 11th May '05, 1:02pm
the Heal-to-Kill demon? you don't get rod from him/her. Avatar gives it to you. I saw someone killing unseeing eye with rod THEN killing demon...... and also, he's just beginner and unless he has daystar, Anomen wouldn't be high enough level to cast 7th level spells.
Who's Ruhk Transmuter and Kamikaze Kobolds? I've never met any transmuter and kobolds in Windspear Hills

Marcus_Giden
Wed, 11th May '05, 5:53pm
@Chickavalier

No, you don't get the rod from the demon, but you have to defeat it to get it from the avatar as the avatar don't have the strenght to defeat the demon.

If you saw someone kill Unseeing Eye with the rod and then kill that demon, no offense, then you saw wrong. Maybe he used the "kill" command with the console, but hey, that's not with the rod.

Ruhk the transmuter is a planar creature, a Rakshasa, (sp?) and he resides in Fiirkrags dungeon. As he's called "the transmuter" he has transmuted kobolds into Kamikaze Kobolds who attacks with suicide-attacks that causes explosions. (The location of these creatures are just in front of the door that goes into the room with Orc archers and secret doors.)

Now, I'm having EXTREME difficulty with Firkraag and I am REAL close to looking for cheats on the web. The Mage was effortless but Firkraag is damn hard! Need Help! Anomen is level drained!

Marcus_Giden
Thu, 12th May '05, 10:17am
@Dark Slayer

Don't cheat! Please, try something else first.
Anomen is Level Drained you say? Do you have a restoration scroll? Otherwise, if you still have Aerie, she could probably use the spell "Restoration" to help Anomen get rid of his level drain.

Tips on defeating Firkraag :
Cheesy trick :
Priest spells : Memorize "Magic Resistance" (blue one)
Throw the spell at Firkraag without making him hostile. This will actually lower his magic resistance.
With whatever mage you have, memorize cloud kills or death fogs. Throw them at Firkraag when he's still out of sight (area of effect will damage him) - stay out of sight.

Not cheesy trick :
Memorize the following mage spells ;
remove magic, breach, lower resistance, lightning bolt.
Memorize the following priest spells ;
Summon insects (or insect swarm or creeping doom) bless, chant, healing spells, aid, and other buffs - immunity to fire comes to mind here.

See to that you have some bonuses against fire.
Throw as many lower resistance spells as you can afford on firkraag. Try to time it with the "insect-spell" of your choice. Cast remove magic and breach to get down his defense.

Always keep at least one fighter engaged. Put that fighter in a position so that Lightning Bolts can hit Firkraag without hitting your fighter. If your fighter is badly wounded replace him with some summons and heal him (your summons will vanish quite fast I think so heal him quick).

When you get Firkraag down at near death, be VERY VIOLENT! Try to dish out as much damage as possible in a short period of time as he will cast 'Heal' on himself if close to dying. If he casts heal, he will be fully restored (allthough, his spells won't be).

Good Luck!

Sticker
Thu, 12th May '05, 10:22am
Spells that I usually use on dragons are Lower Resistance, Greater Malison, Doom, Breach and various summoning spells. Spread out your characters and summon creatures to distract Firkraag so the mages can cast their spells. Fire resistance is also good.

You should aslo prebuff (summoned creatures too) haste, protection from evil etc. at the stairs out of sight from Firkraag.

Edit: After you've gotten his magic resistance down a bit you can cast magic missile.

Chickavalier
Thu, 12th May '05, 1:39pm
Wow! new gem!
Don't cheat! the fight is very worthy for Item he carries(No more spoilers).
and way to kill Firkragg:
1.send one person down until you can see the mage but not firkragg.
2.charm him.
3.surround him, and smack him to death
4.prebuff. summon monsters until you reach limit.
and also. Set Snare is wonderful as it's way to win the fight(I did more than 100 damage with traps). and Prot. form fire is VITAL, as his breath is fire-damage(about 80~120). and You are a major Dragon-killer, as you are CAVALIER(like me). prot from fire will absorb 100 damage. also, use up many,many potions(giant strength, oil of speed, prot. from fire seems to do fine). and have your mages at the back, or else they will be BBQed in no time. spread out the monsters. use them as target of breath. you don't want all your monsters die in single breath.
6.Equip Dragonslayer
7.Kill him
and way to fight him:
lower restance and insect. and breach. I personally never use lightning bolt. it's too risky.
and how do you get level-drained by Firkragg?
@Marcus_Giden
I've never seen wrong. I saw him killing UE with rod. and he got back to Avatar. demon was still alive. and he didn't know there is a cheat, and he never uses them, and hates them(he knows them now)
It's my hint.

Thu, 12th May '05, 7:04pm
Invisibility? I prefer a Sunray (from an item) at that point. Most of them go "poof" and the survivors aren't hard to mop up. Use a summons or 6 to get them grouped up first.

Wont the Dual-to-Fighter-then-Cancel cheese work just as well to get multiple traps?

Dark Slayer

Wheeew.... At last! Firkraag is no more! I went back to the King Strohm III quest, got Dragonslayer and Dragon Scale shield then, I went to a well and got a red helmet and returned down to Firkraag. I used Breach, remove magic, summon fire elementalx2, call woodland beings and summon genie. Then he was comletely open to my lightning bolts. When he was "Badly Injured" I sent my Cavalier who casted Draw Upon Holy Might AND my party to give him some major punishment. I rescued Windspear's child even though Garren Windspear had no reward but, who cares, I'm now accepted in the Order of the Most Radiant Heart or whatever.
Now, I'm on the Shadow Thief quest, on my way to rescue Imoen.....

Actually, he can.

Amulet of Power
This amulet bears the signature enchantments of Conster Damon, an archmage that fell in the Year of the Dracorage (1018DR). The crispness of its etchings may have faded with fire and time, but it still echoes his famous defiant cries: "Your magic denied!" "I will be heard!" "Defeat comes swiftly!" "Take nothing from me!" It has seen much use, and changed hands many times through blood and battle.

and you should be happy/sad, as you are in the endly part of SoA.

@Dark Slayer
Dude, you have been playing a great deal the last few days, haven't you? Anyway, sweet to hear, if anyone have a good tactic vs Irenicus (2:nd time) I'd like to hear it. I always have trouble with that fight, but seem to manage to do it every single time though.

All Right!!! I just waited for Johnny's defense magic to wear off and my party smacked him REAL fast! Even though Imoen and Jaheira died. The search for the Tears was easy. I also killed "Slayer" Irenicus also meaning I finished the game. Now, off to Throne of Bhaal.....

Low enough. he can't proceed that fast without skipping lots of Quests.(I did almost all the quest and it took centuries to complete SoA)
And more Qs should go to ToB forum. make new one.(Tob is extremely hard but really short)
