I was just wondering how much money some of you guys have collected at some point of the game. At one point I was sitting on 78,000 gp. Then I bought a hell of a lot of spells and heaps of potions and payed Galean's Fee and got to about 15,000gp.

my solo pc is a fighter/thief, needed only 5,000 gold for shadow dragon scale armour (forging fee), uses weapons and accesories that are taken from defeating enemies, no need for scrolls (except for restoration and protection from magic and undead). already paid gaelan. and i have nalia's keep. i'm sitting on a 6 digit gp. in fact, i didn't really care about money after gaelan and the armour.

Once you've decided to pick up valuable armors and sell them money pretty much isn't an issue anymore. Solo characters have it even easier on money, since you don't have to buy lots of equipment for those pesky fellow companions. :)

I have purchased everything that I need, sold what I don't, and have over 100k going into Spellhold. I did not do all of the Chapter 2 quests either. Money comes real easy in this game.

So I guess that begs the question, depending on your party makeup, which items are "safe" to sell, and which ones do you keep on a table in a safehouse? (I have 2 tables in my Thieve's Guild house just covered with stuff I don't want to part with!) I know it's probably just a matter of opinion, (so-and-so looks COOL dual-weilding these 2 items etc), but what do you guys think?

How ironic that I actually used a 'How much money have you gathered' as an example of a silly topic in another discussion. Should've seen it coming :p

I once sold all the nasty items that i didn't use, quite a lot, sold a lot of gathered gems and potions etc too: more then 146.000 GP is what i could remember... probably even more. Still some people said they didn't want to speak with the likes of me....

Faragon, son of Methadon: Not taking companions with you so you can save your money? Tsk! Tsk! I can't remember you being that greedy...;)

Personally, I don't think money is that big of an issue (after Chapter 2, anyways). That is, until the really expensive stuff comes out in Chapter 6, such as the level 9 spells. I bought those, and each one costs almost 10,000 gp. But with the endless supply of money in BGII, how much money can be accumulated is rather dull topic.

C'Jakob, money is that big of an issue when someone needs it desperately in Chapter 2.

And why would someone needed it so much? Boni Merchs installed.

I'm member of the group that doesn't need much money in Chapter 2. You?

btw, nice pocketchange you get when you sell Carsomyr. At least I did.

I let Keldorn keep Carsomyr after I dumped him from the group (after the Unseeing eye).

I didn't originally do it for the money, I just got tired of Keldorn trying to crawl into my sleepingbag. :mommy: As if it weren't bad enough with Jan constantly muttering in his sleep about turnips.

I have had about 250.000 or 300.000 GP in the end of the game. It just kept piling on me!

Yeah, I like to finish the game a rich man. At level 9 my fighter is dual classed to capitalist.
