The heading says it all, I just wonder if I can download the patch and maybe the shadowkeeper without someone asking me for money? There also seems to be a link to download the expansion pack but that can't be right can it?

AFAIK all the things in the BG2 section of this site are free of charge, including shadow keeper and the patches. If anyone gave you a link to download the exapnsionpack however, it can't have been from this site, and the actual download would have been illegal.

However, there are some unofficial addons such as MageDuel. This is different from the official expansion, but AFAIK it is free.

That's because I am one of those nervous people that don't dare to do anything illegal. I don't trespass for fun (or for any reason), I have never even shoplifted. If I was interrogated for anything I would probably just break down and cry since this "don't do anything illegal" feature of mine is really strong. And, ehr, I am not that good at computers so the thought of testing never struck me. Or, no, actually I was certain "they" would be able to track me through the computer and come banging on my door in the middle of the night, telling me to pay or go to prison. That's why.
