It's impossible to kill Gorion in the beginning. His death is scripted.

If you attack him either he kills you with a lightning, istant death,no saving throw or you kill him,but then you cannot play anymore...

Thats not completly true!
I killed him once, but I had maxed my team first.

Thetoril is harder, hes impossible to kill, and he luanches 1 call lightning per second.
Ulraunt is weak mage, though he got around 200 hp or something.

With a patch that made Elminster your main character, it's easy to kill him (silly Elmonster is immune to all damage), just look his lightning bolts bounce back. The game doesn't really proceed from there, as you can't get out of Candlekeep.

Who ever said that we were human? :borg: :1eye:

Anyway, howcome Gorion can cast spells at amazingly fast rates?

Because it would look incredibly stupid if he'd stand waiting while Sarevok whacks at him before casting a spell. Then waiting some more

He could've cast improved invisibility before hand, or he could've run?

Now that would've been a suitably heroic start for the game. Gorion, a venerable mage shouts 'run away!' and runs out of the screen with his tail between his legs. Then he'd have disappeared and gone to his friend Elminster's place to drink beer and watch porn from a crystal ball

Even a lawful good character would run if they knew that they were facing a more powerful emenmy. So it would've been a legitamet option for Gorian to undertake. He was ambushed and out gunned. He knew his chances were at a minimum.

And as I said, it would've been a real heroic demo for a hack&slash game. Like Luke thinking 'I can't win this fight' and flying away while the Death Star gunned down Yavin in Star Wars.

Without Gorion's sacrife (for that is the right word, they could have run away but they wouldn't come far, they would be chased and caught... so fighting was the only solution. Gorion kept them all busy in the fight and therefor you character is able to run away and escape.

Those cast rates are from a bioware-designed ultrablaster-MegaArchMage....or sthing like that...just like Elminster.
