Title says it all.

I'm living in France and as such have been playing the french version of BG2. However, upon gazing at the original dialogs, they're much more funny and in-character than the pale translation that we get. Besides, I always wanted to know what voice Minsc has in the english version :)

Anyway, I just wanted to know whether there is a patch or mod available that would allow me to put the whole game in english.

Thanks in advance ;)

There isn't. At best you could patch your game with an English patch and get English dialogues (text), but not any sound.

He could make his own patch with WeiDU, but that would be a major pain, and you still wouldn't get the sound files.

But aren't the sound files... somewhere ?

Yes fortunately a lot of people has put a lot of work into voices. You can find it here here (http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_editors6.htm)

There are NPC voices if you scroll down. Put them in your sound files, and then you would at least have interaction voices in english from the NPC characters to apply to your own characters. You can so to speak build your own Minsc. To get all english dialogue texts assoicated with english sounds from NPCs, I think you are better off with buying the game in english.

EDIT; I tried to figure out how to open the NPC files and make them use sounds I chose from the harddisk, But They are stored in some formats I am quite unfamilar with and unable to manipulate with. But there is a *.bif manipulator out, so you might be able to fiddle around with it if you find a good editor. But you can just as well spend those hours, earning some money to afford the game in english :)

You can always browse this (http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_editors.htm) url to look for interesting supplements though.

Sound files are in a number of game's compressed files, and they take several hundred MB.

Ah well, guess I'll buy it in english, then... But BG2 + ToB in France was worth about 5$, while the english version is worth 55$ on amazon... quite a big difference.

If the NPC sound files doesn't satisfy your curiousity and you buy it from the internet, you can support Sorcerers place if you want to, if you buy it through this sorcerers place link
