View Full Version : Fav character Nightal Wed, 16th Aug '00, 11:12am What are you fav character(no not your main character)Feel free to explain why and wich do you really hate (no not Khalid this time) Taluntain Wed, 16th Aug '00, 10:19pm Imoen, definitely. Not only did she do a massive amount of damage with a bow, especially at the beginning of the game, she's a char that grows on you as well. You actually care for her, not unlike some others that you just say **** em (excuse my French) if they die and get a new one. Or maybe that's just me? Vermillion Thu, 17th Aug '00, 6:19am Imoen, apart from her impressive archery talent, you can choose how she develops her thieving skills as you get her at level one right at the start of the game and she does grow on you. And she can dual class as a mage which can be very useful I find. Although I dont just say **** it when Minsc or Vicona dies either, the rest of the characters I might, but not them. hooligan_inc Thu, 17th Aug '00, 7:30pm Shar-Teel, because in a curious way she's right. Wingfoot Thu, 17th Aug '00, 7:39pm Kivan the loner that he is, and avenging the death of his wife. plus he just kicks arse w/ a bow or halberd. The Fat Egg Fri, 18th Aug '00, 1:05am Probably Sarevok. He rocks. For an NPC, I liked Tiax, he wasn't that great at anything, but he was cool. And they way he was mentioned in the credits, pure genious! "Tiax rules, make way!" Shura Fri, 18th Aug '00, 6:02pm Viconia's cool. (DROW!!) and so's kivan. reminds me of The Crow. Edwin has a damn impressive personality too shadow Sun, 20th Aug '00, 7:09am Mine is Coran -- he is a killer backstabber, especially when you equip him with both the Boots of Speed and the Gauntlets of Ogre Strength. He has a suave personality too, though a tad irresponsible in his dalliances... Sapiryl Thu, 7th Sep '00, 2:55am It's Boo all the way!!! Or that little kid in the forest south of Nashkel who lost his "puppy" ALBERT! THat's his name. Mollusken Thu, 7th Sep '00, 12:32pm Ajantis!!!! Smashes all, with Helm's blessings. Casey Chaos Thu, 7th Sep '00, 10:40pm Xzar is defintley my fave character. I guess his slightly homicidal antics make up for his lack of hit-points (I'm sure they must be fixed to ALWAYS be poor, even for a mage), but his stats are pretty good really. And he's a necromancer, and they rock. And if you reach Baldur's Gate those guys upstairs in the Sorcerer's Sundries reveal Xzar is a Zhent agent. Oh yeah, he's got a brilliant voice as well. Shame Montaron is a bit of a loser then really! [This message has been edited by Casey Chaos (edited September 07, 2000).] Lord Balduran Wed, 13th Sep '00, 3:21am Ajanis, and the way he stubbornly clings to his honor above all else. Although I wish they could have come up with something a little more original than "my honor is my life", which they ripped off from Dragonlance. Some eerie chanting as he charged into battle would have been cool. I'm soory, but I despise Khalid. When I got frustrated, I used to save my game, go back and pick him up, then have him killed in all sorts of ways. When I felt better I would re-load and pick up. Twisted I know, but what are you gonna do? He's just so WHINY! Ominix2 Wed, 11th Oct '00, 11:56am My fave was Imoen. She was just the kickin-arse archer, and you got to choose her thief skills right from the start. I like KHALID too because you can make sure he has high hit points. I hated Garrick personally, and I would have my sadistic pleasure by having him killed in awful ways. He also is hillarious when he fails a morale check. Jaheria sucked too, but I had her executed by Khalid so it didn't matter :) Om Sylvus Moonbow Wed, 11th Oct '00, 2:01pm Albert. He was too hyped! When he changed into the Naycodemon and gated away, if you were quick enough, you went with him to the Nine Hells. Bloodly crazy battles. My swords where swinging, my magic crackling, my arrows flying. Oh no, wait. I didn't use arrows in BG1, only cowards use them and my party is nothing of the sort. I have a few cowards in BG2 though because it's a little tougher and it's mostly Nalia anyhow ;) Albert. Yup, never forget him and the trip he took me on. Syl... L'Israe Fri, 13th Oct '00, 6:38pm Xan (<--is that his name??)I loved his end-of -the-world attitude, but I didn't keep him for long as i wanted to make room for another character, besides the fact that he was depressing all the others!! Gunthar Sun, 15th Oct '00, 6:31am I just can't get enough of Minsc! How could you not like someone with lines like: "Squeeky wheel gets the kick!" and "Minsc leads, swords for everyone!" Plus that funny noise that Boo makes when you click on him. GREAT CHARACTER. Most of the NPC's in BG1 were not made up out of nowhere but actualy D&D characters that Bioware people played used in their personal pen and paper games. Think of that the next time you play the game. Vermillion Sun, 15th Oct '00, 9:12am In that case whoever played Khalid must have got volenteered lots to open doors, fight off dangerous enemies without weapons and armour etc... ;) Not that i thought he was annoying..... Sniper Wed, 25th Oct '00, 1:10am My favourite character (apart from my own who i call Majikus) is Minsc. With his funny speeches he just makes me crack! Especially with "you point, I punch" Sniper Sun, 29th Oct '00, 8:36pm Does everyone in Candlekeep apart from the heros and the bloke in charge of candlekeep get turned into dopplegangers? LowboDyiss Mon, 9th Apr '01, 1:00am My fav is Coran. Heīs a real great archer and a good thief, too. (itīs practical to have him AND Imoen...one can find traps, one can open locks). The only thing I find a bit confusing about him is his saying: "Wie gut īne Frau zu sein" (German version perhaps badly translated) which means "How good it is to be a woman". Yeslick is quite cool, too. Zaylae Mon, 9th Apr '01, 2:25am Coran! Sol'Kanar Mon, 9th Apr '01, 5:37am My favorite character would have to be Edwin. Not only does he have a funny personality, but DAMN look at all the spells he gets! I also like Shar-Teel. Nothing like having her shoot up Noober or Lord Binky with that light crossbow of speed! I dispise Ajantis, the filthy paladin. I always insult him and kill him. It's a lot of fun. I also hate Khalid, who is a coward, and has less HP than my main character, who is a bloody Druid. My current party is made up of those two NPCs and the driud. I also like Xzar, he's really fun, but I missed him this time around. Seric Exz Mon, 9th Apr '01, 2:33pm I kinda like Eldoth Kron. He is hardly the most useful NPC around (well, actually, he sucks), but he is quite a character all the same. Self-obsessed, scheming little bugger... I also like Alora, the halfling thief you find sneaking about in the Hall of Wonders. Cheerful, curious and an excellent thief. Dudette Mon, 9th Apr '01, 6:29pm Viconia, with her magic resistance! Frog Mon, 9th Apr '01, 7:53pm Minsc all the way man! Ironbeard Mon, 9th Apr '01, 8:12pm kagain, my main char's based on him and who can forget his battle-cry "for the love of money!" Volar Blackmane Tue, 10th Apr '01, 8:38pm Edwin, for his personality, manipulation of others, strive for power and seeing others as expendable assets. Divine Shadow Thu, 12th Apr '01, 12:09am I think everyone rock's. Gawd I would love to play one of them in "real" D&D. A shame you can only have 6 persdons in your party. They should have made it 8. Marek Thu, 12th Apr '01, 2:20pm Imoen. too bad she's a serious downfall in BG2. Wildfire Thu, 12th Apr '01, 3:09pm Minsc has to be the best by far(Go for the eyes Boo!GO FOR THE EYES!) Frog Sat, 14th Apr '01, 8:42am Taste hamster justice!!! Extremist Sun, 15th Apr '01, 3:17am All evil aligned party member NPCs (Viconia, Montaron, ...) Orkrist the Cleaver Fri, 20th Apr '01, 6:42pm My favorite character by far was Yeslik. I'm surprised no one has mentioned him yet, but I guess he wan't to popular for those on this board. Unfortunately, he was buggy, but he was my favorite while he lasted. Big B Fri, 20th Apr '01, 7:03pm What do you mean buggy? How so? I haven't tried them all but I really like Edwin and Xzar. Lord Moeken Fri, 20th Apr '01, 7:38pm LowboDyiss, I'd have to agree with you on the Coran choice. The translation you are refering to is probably the english "Luck be a Lady" he said that quite a bit. Enagonios Sat, 21st Apr '01, 1:54am Viconia Maertyn Sat, 8th Sep '01, 7:09pm Safana Big B Sat, 8th Sep '01, 8:46pm Wowsers, talk about digging for a topic Maertyn . This thing is ancient. Although still no one has shed some light on why Yeslick is "buggy"... [We said before that if an old topic is revived and there's no real reason why it shouldn't be (like in this case), those who don't have anything to contribute to the topic than state the obvious fact that yes, it's old & revived, should not post at all. We all have eyes, and if I or any of the mods felt that it needs to be stated, we would do so.] -Tal [This message has been edited by Taluntain (edited September 08, 2001).] Inferno of Balduran Sun, 9th Sep '01, 12:03am Coran. He has great THACO and you can make him backstab.heh heh heh eeeexcellent! Noober also entertained me with such classics as; Hi, I'm Noober. Nice place, huh? So, killed any monsters yet? Ever been to Baldur's Gate? I've been to Baldur's Gate. Ugh, I think I stepped in something. Everyone in town used to throw rocks at me and tell me I was annoying. What time is it? I haven't had a conversation this long, well... ever! What's that big weapon for? Those colors look pretty stoopid on you... I once knew this guy named Dilby. He threw rocks at me too. Are you gonna throw rocks at me? What about now? Gee, you sure are patient. I've run out of things to say. Great Bloke!!!! Maertyn Sun, 9th Sep '01, 1:54am You forgot my favourite Noober: Heya! And now, having read the "Imoen vs. Safana"-Thread (http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000331.html), I have to ask, does no one else think Safana is really sexy - Viconia is O.K., but Saf's voice ruled my BG1-game. Oh yeah... Lokken Sun, 9th Sep '01, 4:10am Boo! Boo I tell you! :D He's so(not literally speaking) great! but we can't have boo without Minsc! Go for the eyes boo! raaaaaaaaargh (was that SoA?) Thalantyr Mon, 10th Sep '01, 11:59pm Thalantyr is my fav. NPC. And Imoen for a PC i liked to use her alot. [This message has been edited by Thalantyr (edited September 11, 2001).] Tiger Tue, 11th Sep '01, 2:31am Mine's Imoen. She's great with a short bow, has excellent thief skills that you can choose from L1 and you can dual class her to a mage. All in all a great character to have in your party. Lemernis Tue, 11th Sep '01, 7:16am Re: Yeslick being buggy, some have reported that he behaves like Noober and keeps on asking to join the party over and over when they try to drop him from the party... something like that. Can't quite remember now. If I were only going to take one character along with me for the entire game it would probably be Minsc. My second choice would be Kivan. Caine Tue, 11th Sep '01, 10:27pm its been said a lot but i have to say minsc he rocks in both bg1,2, and tob DarkCroll Wed, 12th Sep '01, 3:52pm my favorites are viconia and shar-teel viconia couse she is just so cool shar-teel couse she is like mine charakter(evil, human, im a male she is a female, fighter and with great stats) PseudoDragon Sat, 9th Nov '02, 6:26am My Fav is of course Edwin! Best goddamn mage around. as soon as you get time stop he is truely the strongest. (allthough he would say he is always stronger than the puny monkeys around him) Then minsc :) and boo not forget boo or minsc get angry. Saruman Sat, 9th Nov '02, 12:40pm Edwin is simply the best. I just can't play without him. Kivan, Xzar and Viconia are also great. I hate those two bards, Eldoth and Garrick and Quayle, that idiot from Wyrm's bridge, who asks you where are you going and no matter what you say, he wants to join you. Fallen Paladin Sat, 9th Nov '02, 1:00pm Tiax rules all! Uytuun Sat, 9th Nov '02, 1:59pm He may be dull, but I still think Khalid is very efficient. Imoen is a close second. Not so much for her skills, but because of her personality and her relationship with the PC. Dhirngulin Fri, 15th Nov '02, 12:03pm Branwen. Clerics rule in bg1... Vince Clortho Mon, 18th Nov '02, 1:39am As far as personality goes, Yeslick is certainly one of my favorites. After finally learning to take advantage of Imoen's thieving skills, I learned to appreciate her. Had I to rank my favorites/least favorites... it might go something like this: Yeslick Imoen Minsc ---------------> Like/Dislike Breakline Dynaheir Branwen Shar-Teel Edwin Quayle I must also admit that I sent Garrick to his wailing death several times in order to more easily beat a situation or two. :D /  Kivan's just neutral; Coran's not usually worth picking up. Never played through w/evil oriented party, so never was too interested in most of the evil characters. I tried to get rid of Khalid and Jaheira as soon as I could get another decent cleric to join. Quayle just has to hit the bottom since he upsets Yeslick with his attitude. Morgoth Tue, 19th Nov '02, 4:26pm Oh my GOD. digging up this ancient old dusty topic. ANyways Minsc rullezzz (As far as I know, this is one of SPīs first topics, a lot of veterans should be turning sentimental now) [ November 19, 2002, 16:30: Message edited by: Morgoth ] |
