View Full Version : Bug!
Llandon Tue, 17th Jul '01, 6:23am Hi!
I decided to play BGII again from the start with TOB installed....I'm in chapter 3, and I've just been given the assingment to go and taki out Bodi. There should be a mage and a golem waiting for me infront of her hideout in under the graveyadd.......but they are NOT there! I can't get in! and yes, I have talked to the head Shadow Thief! Anyone had this problem....or know what to do about it?
Subra Tue, 17th Jul '01, 8:04am Until I installed the official patch, I got all manner of strange buggy things happening...after the patch, everything seems to run fine.
Spudsquisher Tue, 17th Jul '01, 12:31pm umm, are you in the right place? you have to go down under the graveyard, past the spider nest. and then in the left of the screen the chap and his golem will be waiting
Llandon Tue, 17th Jul '01, 7:29pm Yea.....I'm in the right place, I've finished BGII 2 times before. I have the BGII patch installed....should I install the Beta Patch for TOB as well? I was going to wait until the official patch came out.....is there a way to make the door open or the golem and the mage appear with ShadowKeeper?
Killer Dwarf Tue, 17th Jul '01, 7:34pm Im on chapeter 3 right now waiting for night to fall for the mook thing. I have the offical patch installed i will keep you informed if i have the same problem.
Killer Dwarf
The Baby Killing Paladin
Llandon Tue, 17th Jul '01, 9:27pm are y'all talking about the official BGII patch, or the TOB Beta Patch?
Extremist Tue, 17th Jul '01, 11:31pm Llandon, the only way you can try to resolve that is to uninstall the complete thing and then install ONLY BG2-SoA with official patch but without expansion.
Of course, you'll install ToB once when you are about to finish SoA. And why? ToB is full of bugs noone knows about yet. Especially us who don't have that expansion yet.
Baldak Oakfist Tue, 17th Jul '01, 11:41pm I have TOB installed and did not have that problem. The mage and golem were right where they were supposed to be. Try going back to a save game just befor getting the last quest from Aran.
Llandon Wed, 18th Jul '01, 1:37am Thanks for sugesting uninstall and reinstall....I hadn't thought of that! I'm gonna try a few other things first, but if all else fails, I'll try the uninstall. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know!
Kitiara Wed, 18th Jul '01, 4:10am um i had this same problem... someone on this board gave me a patch.. think it was slappy.. i am searchin for it.. will edit this message if i find it :D
<EDIT> ok was taluntain.. sorry and it is for if you cannot get through the barred doors. Here is the link he gave me... http://members.home.net/mrkevvy/FixedBG2BodhiLairInaccessible.zip

Llandon Wed, 18th Jul '01, 6:52am Thanks again....I'm still having trouble with this! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Thanks for the link Kitara (I love DL by the way)......but it doesn't work! (the link that is). I emailed the owner of the web site that offers the fix, but I haven't heard back. If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know! THANKS AGAIN TO ALL OF THE KIND PEOPLE THAT HAVE TRIED TO HELP!
Solarus Wed, 18th Jul '01, 5:47pm The more I think about this...the more I think that it might not be that the golem and magic user didn't show up..it may be something else....the big stone slab infront of the entrance is gone....my party is in a hallway flanked by staues, and at the end of the hall is a door flanked by 2 big (egyptian?) statues.....this is the door that cannot be opened! I can't pick, force, or knock it! I get message that my hands are shakeing too much to open the door! What the hell? I've finished this game two times already, and haven't had this problem! I can't figure it out!
Wildfire Wed, 18th Jul '01, 6:15pm Try this link instead: http://members.home.net/mrkevvy/SoAfix/FixedBG2BodhiLairInaccessible.zip
It works for me, and should help you. Alternatively, if that doens't work, you can go to the page with the list of fixes and find it there. That is here: http://members.home.net/mrkevvy/fixes.html
Llandon Thu, 19th Jul '01, 1:34am Thanks for the links Wildfire....I was able to download the file into my overide folder as instructed.....but it doesn't help :(
Any other advice....can anything be done using shadowkeeper? I haven't had much use for any kind of cheets/editors, but I am starting to get desperate.
Solarus Thu, 19th Jul '01, 5:34pm I didn't realise that I was postingunder two different names...Solarus and Llandon. I hope that this didn't confuse any of y'all. I have 2 computers and I guess I registered with different names on them. I hope this isn't against the rules.
I still can't fix this problem, and I'm statring to get really depressed....does anyone else have any suggestions? :(
Lokken Thu, 19th Jul '01, 8:40pm try using the teleport cheat, and teleport to the other side of the door. I'm not sure if triggers gets skipped this way, but it's worth a try
use the console, how to do it can be found here: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/cheats.htm
Solarus Thu, 19th Jul '01, 8:50pm That's a great Idea! I'll try that one when I get home tonight! If anyone else has any ideas please let me know.
I posted my problem on another site, and got some advice about what was missing....it seems that the order of events that are supposed to occur are 1) mage and golem open stone doors 2) mage and golem go away 3) vampire appears, opens door and attacks. Eventhough the golem and MU never showed up, the stones have been moved, and I have access to the hallway, but the door is still locked. I need to find out why the vampire is not appearing. Is it possible that I somehow killed or trapped him? (I know that there are several named vampires that you see attacking shadowtheives in various parts of the city, maybe this is one of those vampres). Is there a cheat that allows you to open doors? Or triger events? Hopefuly the transport cheat will help me out...y'all keep your finers crossed! Thanks again for all of your help!
Llandon Fri, 20th Jul '01, 4:24am DAMN! I enabled the cheats and then jumped inside the Tomb....but it didn't work :(
I don't know what to do! Anymore suggestions? Does anyone know any sites that I can go to to search for fixes?
Blackthorne TA Fri, 20th Jul '01, 4:43am I'm afraid I can't be of any help to you on your problem, but I think we'd prefer it if you'd choose either Solarus or Llandon as your nick and stick with it rather than going back and forth from one to the other.
Lokken Fri, 20th Jul '01, 4:50am Ask Extremist for the code of the Mage (I dont have much insight to the more techie stuff, but Extremist is crawling through the engine all the time :p), so you can create him from the console. I believe this will work as creating characters will initiate the first automatic dialogue that should appear as if you met him by normal means

Llandon Fri, 20th Jul '01, 5:38am Sorry again for the confusion on screennames Blackthorn....I'll try and remember, but the problem is that I have 2 different computers (wk and Home) and since it's automatic I tend to forget.
Lokken....Who is Extremeist, and how to I contact him? Thanks for the information, I hope that he can help me. Anyone else?
Lokken Fri, 20th Jul '01, 5:44am boy, you surely must be new here if you dont know who he is :) Extremist seems to know every tiny thing about this game, and if not, he seems to able to find it. But who he is, well, if you look at the 6th reply from the top I tihnk you'll know ;)

Extremist Fri, 20th Jul '01, 5:45pm First let me clear something:
If you want an answer from me, DO NOT mention :-X util in your thread!
Pal, who told you or suggested you to use that crap util?
Tell me, so I can bust his ass! *glower*
And I'm really surprised that Lokken suggested me - he does know for all my thoughts about :-X util.
So, first of all, uninstall :-X util, that bug you are forced into was probably inflicted by it.
--------------------------------------
1. Enable the console (instructions are in "Power Users.txt" file in BG2 main filder), start the game and go to Graveyard District - DO NOT enter catacombs yet!
2. Open console with CTRL+SPACE and type this command:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("AranJob","GLOBAL",3)
3. Now type this command:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("FindLassal","AR0801",0)
4. After you typed CORRECTLY both commands and confirmed them with <ENTER>, climb down to the catacombs...
Lokken Fri, 20th Jul '01, 5:49pm sorry Extremist, but he didn't say he actually had the utility, so I thought redemption was still at hand ;)
or else because my memory only last 4-5 posts

faber Fri, 20th Jul '01, 7:20pm It seems like there are many bugs on the lower tombs area , i'm having one right now, not very far from this spot.
Llandon Fri, 20th Jul '01, 7:23pm Thanks for the suggestions Extremist! I hope that it works. I will be out of town tonight, but will attempt this fix when I come back tomorow afternoon.
I am a little confused about your mention of the ":-X util." Is that what I downloaded off of Baulderdash? IF so don't worry...I have removed all of those "fixes" and reinstalled BGII WITHOUT the patch as of right now (if I should install the patch before proceding please let me know). They didn't cause the bug though, I didn't even know they existed until after I ran into this little problem....as a matter of fact I had't used any utilities or cheets at all until i got stuck! If you are talking about someting else please let me know.
I am very excited about trying your fix, and have high hopes that it will succeed. Thank you again for your suggestions, and I will keep you informed on my progress when I return home tomorrow afternoon. THANKS AGAIN TO ALL OF YOU FOR TRYING TO HELP ME!
tjekanefir Fri, 20th Jul '01, 8:26pm Okay, Extremist, I'll bite. (-: Why do you hate Shadowkeeper so much that you get mad at other people who use it?
I mean, it can be used to cheat, of course, but you can do that with the console too...
Lokken Fri, 20th Jul '01, 8:28pm Tjekanefir, it screws up the game all the time
tjekanefir Fri, 20th Jul '01, 9:25pm Ah, then it's buggy. Ok, that I can understand. (-:
Llandon Fri, 20th Jul '01, 10:08pm Ahhhh....he was talking about Shadow Ke...oops, I almost said it! OK. I understand now. No, I didn't even download that program until after I experienced the game problem, and then just to see if there was anything in there that could help me. There wasn't. I really don't see the point in cheeting games like BG and BGII....although I did remove the exp cap in IWD when I played it solo...before HOW came out.
I've got to drive to Charleston for a party tonight, but I'll try the solutions tomorrow afternoon...I'm so excited! I really hope it works, b/c this is the best character (stat and equip) that I have played so far. I would hate to loose him, or start over from the begining of SOA. Thanks again everyone! I'll let y'all know if it worked tomorrow afteroon!
Extremist Tue, 24th Jul '01, 4:49pm Llandon, I just spot you on Boo's spyeye...
So, is it working?
[Edit]
Ok, I saw you put it as another topic, so you don't have to answer it in here too.
Extremist out.

Llandon Tue, 24th Jul '01, 8:46pm I can't post a personal msg on the board, and I don't know how to contact you :(
I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your help. I owe you one!
The bug fix you gave me did NOT, however, work exactly the way you told me. After two unsuccessful attempts at trying your fix, I decided to try a different approach. I went down into the catacombs, into the very hallway itself. Then I entered your "FindLassel" command and BOOM! The event triggered!
Thanks again Extremist!
Jay
PS It's nice to see someone else who likes to play an Elf F/M/T. How will 3ed D&D effect this class btw?
