I hate those stupid vampires. How do I kill the one in the graveyard near the spider nest? She has magic power and I tried to dispell magic but it doesn't work. She keeps killing me.

View Full Version : Vampires Kevin14 Tue, 8th May '01, 6:08pm I hate those stupid vampires. How do I kill the one in the graveyard near the spider nest? She has magic power and I tried to dispell magic but it doesn't work. She keeps killing me. Bruce the Monk Tue, 8th May '01, 6:55pm Use the sword Day star or cleric spell light of day. one or two of those spells, any vampire will be toast. Volar Blackmane Tue, 8th May '01, 7:48pm Why not use normal tactics? Chop them to bits. Or if you don't have weapons with enough plusses try magic. Headbanger Tue, 8th May '01, 7:55pm Dispel, Secret Word an Breach.... always works. And do you by accident have the mace of disruption??? :) Avooch Dar Tue, 8th May '01, 7:55pm When dealing with more than one vampire i like to backstabb them and then summon a couple of nasty things to keep them at bay while my archer (me) calls a few shots and kills them in seconds. Also try putting the really 'ard guys at the front and then pummel the vampires with spells which are not that powerful but never fail to work like magic missile. Remember to have loads of restoretion spells at hand just incase you muck it up. Da Punisher Tue, 8th May '01, 10:35pm I think this guy means Tanova, and you can't chop her to bits, because she has a natural resistance to normal weapons and has a protection to magical weapons. Use Breach on her and summon a couple of beasts, where she'll send her spells at, because they're nasty! Nobleman Tue, 8th May '01, 10:59pm Or take a figher/mage/thief. with that necklace you get from the shadow thieves, which gives you immunity to level drain. With a few defensive spells it wont be a problem really. I can also agree on daystar as mentioned before, and furthermore the helmet of brilliance I think. With an additional sunray. Or drag her out in the sunshine. An evil way is to keep running up and down the stairs, each time she begins a new spell. At some point her spells runs out. But that aint funny. Only for desperate late night rescues. catch u on a flipside Lord Praetor Munir Wed, 9th May '01, 3:59pm my best tactic against tanovas are 1) cast web ( u can cast several in an instant if u have spell sequencer) 2) barbeque them with Fireball... seem to deal a lot of damage to them... TIN_MAN Wed, 9th May '01, 4:05pm I think all undead creatures suffer some saving throw penalty against fire spells. They seem to be extremely vulnerable to fire. BURN'EM!!!! :D Dudette Wed, 9th May '01, 11:32pm must be cause the sun is just a gigantic fireball... :D Lord Praetor Munir Thu, 10th May '01, 4:37pm that makes some sense... Tanovas are a real pain if u have a new character at the start of the game.. u can barely injure them and they can drain u fast.. unless ur a Paladin of that special kit... u meet a few while in Athkatla and u can choose to fight them or run away from them Shrike00 Thu, 10th May '01, 4:46pm Of course I run away. What fun is it in teying to win? In fact, I haven't killed anything at all. I am a pacifist player. I managed to go through the entire first dungeon without killing anyone. Now I wonder if I can do it for the whole game? Volar Blackmane Thu, 10th May '01, 8:58pm It might be a problem as you *have* to kill certain persons ;) Shrike00 Thu, 10th May '01, 9:16pm Then I will kill them with my eyes closed. Taluntain Fri, 11th May '01, 1:43am LMAO. Spoken like a true paladin. Of sorts. :D TIN_MAN Fri, 11th May '01, 10:55am In fact I like clean work. I prefer to kill anybody with red circle under his figure! Retreat is no option! Lord Praetor Munir Fri, 11th May '01, 4:33pm lol... thats some real role-playing alright.. trying to not to kill anyone.. but how can u do that? i mean.. in Irenicus' dungeon.. you HAVE To kill that Otyugh in the sewers to get the portal key... Da Punisher Fri, 11th May '01, 6:58pm He shrike00, you're gonna have a HUGE problem, since you won't get xp. At least, very little! And that isn't so bad, if you don't fight at all, but your savingthrows don't decrease and THAT'S a very very great problem. Especially against the pesky drow and the mindflayers in the game ! BTW: is the multiplicity of a drow, two drow or two drows, just wondering. Capstone Fri, 11th May '01, 7:05pm Two drow. Incidentally, I'm about to try exactly the opposite approach; kill absolutely everybody it is possible to kill in the game. I realize that there are a few the game won't allow me to kill tho. Most annoying. Wish me luck! :) Modjahed Sun, 13th May '01, 11:12am About non-killing. In my current game (well, in the beginning if it - I am now in Chap 6) I wanted to go to Spellhold VERY early, so I just did Trademeet, Waukeen's Promenade and freed Hendak. I didn't have any fire or acid dealing weapons for Jaheira and my Kensai, so I had to do the Druid Grove "on the sly" - the only thing I killed was the Rakshasa - potions of invisibility did wonders. :D |
