View Full Version : Gong Quest/Limited wish?
Graz73 Tue, 29th May '01, 10:39pm Lokken posted this...
>>well, there isn't an ogremage in the tower >>unless you play the gong quest, ehm, use >>the limited wish and pick an one time wish >>and choose the adventure like never before >>(or something like that)
Anyone know what he's talking about? I'm right at the end and want to find a few quests that I missed...
Lokken Tue, 29th May '01, 10:48pm well, you cast the spell limited wish, then you choose a one time wish, and choose an adventure like never before (or something very similar), and at your feet, there is a note =)
Ragusa Wed, 30th May '01, 9:39am Lokken´s post makes sense:
Some hints to complete this quest properly - DANGER, LIMITED SPOILER !!!

(a) there´s a trader in the sewers in the temple district; worth to visit, needs help killing a troll
(b) don´t kill the troll (another one) when it begs for mercy and the ogremage *will be there*
(c) the gong quest is a good alternative to fighting this group for you´ll get the best part of the loot as a reward - the boomerang dagger +2
;) Good fun

kevlar0101 Wed, 30th May '01, 1:24pm wat is the reward for the quest?
Ragusa Wed, 30th May '01, 2:37pm SIC! the boomerang dagger +2 (throwing dagger 2d4+2, returning; nice)
Headbanger Wed, 30th May '01, 3:05pm almost as good as the firetooth dagger.
Ragusa Wed, 30th May '01, 3:39pm yep, really nice stuff. Daggers rock, as I like to point out here, especially for thieves with grandmastery in it and that like to backstabb but that´s something for another topic ...
kevlar0101 Thu, 31st May '01, 12:34pm btw, I thought the only weapons suitable for backstabbing are the dagger and short sword, in bg1 you couldnt use the lonsword either for it
Graz73 Thu, 31st May '01, 11:31pm I went and tried that limited wish thing, with 3 different mages, but there was never an option for the "Adventure like never before" or whatever. Maybe I already completed it? I think I already have that knife in any case...
Blackthorne TA Thu, 31st May '01, 11:33pm Perhaps you didn't have enough Wisdom? My understanding is that the options change depending on your Wisdom...
Nobleman Thu, 31st May '01, 11:33pm You Have to have high wisdom to do it. Higher wisdom equals more options from the wish. But don't feel upset yet. A potion that raises your wisdom is good enough.
Extremist Thu, 31st May '01, 11:56pm What were you thinking?
To get STR, CON and DEX on 25 and leave others on 1 and 2?
You deserved whatever you got. There are no infinite potions Nobleman talks about. So, you'll just have to find another option to enjoy all of that spell. Restart!
Or cheat. Like I care.

Nobleman Fri, 1st Jun '01, 12:08am Hey Extremist. Don't make him sad again  :D
Graz73 just drink a potion of insight before casting limited wish. Have a few of theese wishes memorized if possible. Just to maximize the efficiency of the potion.
Graz73 Fri, 1st Jun '01, 6:13pm I tried the limited wish a few more times with wisdom 18 characters... Still no "adventure like never before" option...
Extremist... For your information, My character has a wisdom of 18, he's a Monk though, which makes it sorta pointless...
I was reading a walkthroughthat explained this quest. It said this...
>>This quest can be done whenever you feel >>like it, in either chapters 2, 3
>> or 6. You must have the Mercenaries >>of Riatavin still alive in Delosar's
>> Inn. Then cast Limited Wish, ask for >>a One-Time wish and select the
>> Adventure like you've never had before >>(it does require 10 or better WIS
>> to cast). A scroll appears at your >>feet.
Anyway, I already killed those Mercenaries, so thats; the problem. I there any way I could cheat and bring them back??

Extremist Fri, 1st Jun '01, 7:20pm Hmm, there is a way - you'll have to activate the console, reset global variable that speaks are they dead or not and respawn them with CreateCreature() command. But...
I do not know which particular variable is keeping the info about that party nor codes for them to recreate them.
Anyway, next time when you play, don't kill people just because you feel like it if you want to explore the game more deeply.
Graz73 Fri, 1st Jun '01, 7:58pm Anyone know how to reset those variables?
I didn't kill those guys on a whim... It was for some other quest I think?
