Perhaps...because Valygar is a Stalker, and he is a jerk...some said. I don't know his abilities, I never took him in.

Anybody have a stalker????

Actually lots of people have said that Valygar kicks Major Ass with Pixie Prick and Celestial Fury. I wouldn't know. All I needed was his body... so that's all I took ;)

Valygar was in my party from near the beginning, and IMO he's a very good companion. Near the end I had him dual wielding Celestial Fury and the Equalizer; very powerful indeed. He also saved my butt when I took on Firkraag when he made all his saves and was immune to the firebreath (due to his armor and other equipment).

My first character was a Stalker and was fun to play. He lacked a little of the "tank" qualities that make the game a bit easier, but hiding in shadows and back stabbing can be great fun!

IMHO, straight Rangers are a bit better suited for this game (since there really isn't much woodland tracking and hiding going on :p), but the Stalker can be a strong protagonist for this game! Don't let their seeming lack of popularity scare you off.

Valygar isn´t that bad though I usually just have him in my party for the sphere quest (I prefer to play good and Keldorn and Mazzy leave the party would I go to kill him :( ).

He still suffers from beeing totally inferior to my dc fighter-thief :D as I still remember so there´s no place for him in my parties

Valygar is a great backup fighter, he can dual wield katanas and later on i have him dual the fury and the bastard sword jar bleeder or something like that, and he does good damage.

Hey! I resent the bs about stalkers. My char was a stalker n he was a one man team. Carrying lots of potions of invisibility he kicked ass! He had 80% of the kills. Just hide in shadows, backstab, drink potion, backstab, run around a corner n stealth, backstab...

I had little time for Valygar but only because there was no room. Had be been a thief he would have been perfect looking back I wish I'd taken him to spellhold instead of Yoshimo. ;)

Stalker is a deadly murder machine, and one of the finest ways to play solo, for he has decent HP an' THAC0, predefined Dual-Weapon capability, Stealth and Backstab
Me thought's it can be even considered powergaming after all that :)
