The game has just started locking up on me. I've been playing for almost a month now, and never had any problems until now.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the full version on Saturday, and added more RAM on Sunday and no problems until about half an hour ago. It seems only happen when I do actions with Minsc. I'm in the De'Arnise stronghold, and trying to get him to forge the flail (only 2 heads at this point).

Anyone else had this problem? I'm getting tired of rebooting.

[update: I just did a refrag on the drive where BG2 is installed...no progress...and more specific to the problem...when I enter Minsc's inventory is when it locks up. This does not happen in any other party memeber's inventory]

Am I going to have to reinstall again?

The only problem i have is when i'm traveling between screens i get a blue screen crash. It happens quite a bit in BG with me too. Anyone got any ideas how to help me too?

The first thing I do when I start getting blue screens and illegal ups is do a scan disk and defrag on ALL hard drives. If that doesn't work, and the blue screens are frequent, I usually end up reformatting (not fun).

i get the blue screen when i quick save and also get a problem where it saves over and over again as if i have the got the q key peranently pressed i end up banging the reset button on the front of my pc,this is happening quite often my pc now thinks its a console its been reset so many times and as for bloody scandisk well dont get me started............

stupid idea-

maybe you could kick minsc out of your party and try to recruit him back? or just drop him altogether. perhaps you could kill him with your other characters?

I'm beginning to think it's a corrupt saved game file or something like that...

I can't drop him altogether...he's got two heads to the flail and the sword of chaos. Maybe I will try to kick him out and bring him back, I never thought of that...I'll keep you posted.

I try to scandisc and defrag at least every two weeks. It's a pain in the ass, but it seems to keep Windows at bay for the most part.

I tried dropping Minsc and picking him up again...worth a try, but didn't work.

I also loaded up other saved games with a different main character, at a different point of the game, and everything was hunky-dory. Therefore, I am more convinced that I have corrupt saved game files...all orinating from the same one, so I might have to start over. I'm going to reinstall one more time just in case though.

I'd appreciate any more thoughts people have though.

[edit: Minsc is carrying the sword of chaos. Is this a CE item? I downloaded those zips posted on the board, would that have something to do with this?]
