what weapons would you use for a level 17 thief: assasin . . . i have a blackrazor i got from my last game . . . is that good enough or should i uograde? a have a buckler too .... i have augars hide , bracers of AC 3 a rose y helm ( stone) and other things... i have the same AC with or with out my my aror cause of my bracerrs i keep the armor for its resistances....

Well, there is no "best" weapon for a thief, it's just a matter of what you like. Personally, I'm fond of the Fire Tooth +3 dagger. Its 2D4+3, + 1D2 fire damage, speed factor 1 (good for backstabbing), can be thrown or used in meelee. Best of all, it grants 2 attacks per round instead of the normal 1 that a thief gets. I also enjoy using a good shortbow like Tuigan or Gesen - they are especially effective with the assassin's poison weapon ability.

Your bracers are kind of redundant with your armor - maybe swap them for bracers of weapon skill/expertise instead? Thieves can always use a boost to their THAC0. Or bracers of archery if you like bows.

When you say "a rose y helm (stone)", do you mean the Dusty Rose Ioun Stone? Thieves can't use this item AFAIK. How did you get around that? :eek:

Is your assassin good/neutral or evil? If evil, then you may want to consider the Human Flesh armor. From a roleplaying point of view, nothing is cooler for an evil character than sporting the latest fashions sewn from human skin :evil:. From a stats point of view, it's AC3, it grants +4 to all saving throws (thieves' saving throws aren't very good), +20% magic resistance, and an undocumented +20% to move silently. Definitely worth looking at if you are an evil assassin.

ill definatly check that human hide thing out . .. i think i have it stored somewhere in my stronghold( i have the keep: i started as a monk , and i got bored so i switched hium over to an assasin) and ive used the infamous firetooth and i did like the results i have to say... my fav. is it and blakrazor for close combat... i am still in chap 3... i have all quest done i just dont want to leave untill i have all quests done and i obsienly rich . . . . and as for the stone helm well im not sure.. i ether used the expansion ... wich i have but not sure if it loaded.. or i cheated like hell..... so ill check that out anbd getback to you... k?

Clear depends on. I have a few favourite weapons in every category now, you can even wreak havoc with a puny +4 dagger, so just ignore the carsomyr/ crom/ c'fury community. Since only a few enemies demand weapons better than +2 you can come along splendidly with +2 weapons over all SoA - and these weapons have the coolest "special effects".

Some neat weapons:
<LI><u>Melee, blunt:</u> Flail of the ages, unimproved hammer of lightning, skullcrusher, red club from trademeet,
<LI><u>Melee, sharp, single-handed:</u> Pixie prick, Boneblade, Kundane, Arabane, Cutthroat, Namarra, Flametongue (about the best sword in BG-2 SoA), Dragonslayer l'sword, Jhor the bleeder, Blade of Searing, Belm.
<LI><u>Melee, sharp, two-handed:</u> Warblade, Flame of the north, unicorn-spear, dragon's breath halberd, dragonbane halberd..
<LI><u>Ranged, two-handed:</u> longbows, light and heavy crossbows (light crossbow of speed), shortbows like Gesen's bow, the Tuigan bow and the Tansheron's bow.
<LI><u>Ranged, single-handed:</u> Sling or Arvoreen, Sling of Seeking, Darts +5 from the cloak of stars, darts of woulding, darts of stunning.

... and many, many more :p

I personally like the Telescopic Dagger or Tragla's Doom (if mage/thief) for melee daggers

Firetooth, Celestial Fury, Cutthroat, Pixie Prick.. maybe a nice Crossbow for ranged endeavors.

OK...the Fire Tooth dagger does as much (thrown, to keep your thief out of the heat of battle) as the Bastard Sword of Searing! Use it, and use it well!

There is no weapon better than blackrazor, so I do not know how you would upgrade. I do think the effects on this sword are bugged, but it is still a +4 longsword. Cutthroat +4 would be a good choice for your off hand and Gesen Bow is the best shortbow in the game. I've never used the fire tooth dagger, so can't comment on how it is for a thief.

Yoshimo uses a katana, not sure how I forgot. CF and Blackrazor would be a pretty awesome combination. Sorry.

Thieves can use Katanas. so C'Fury isnt out :p
And I dont know where you got BlackRazor as being +4, but its +3.

My favourite thief combo is Blade of Roses and Sword of Searing. But mine's a blade, not thief, with now 24 Charisma :grin::p
