My main character is a dual class kensai/mage.

I've finished Nalia's quest and got the fighter's stronghold. Since I'm a mage also, can I have any mage stronghold quest?

I don't think that it should be a problem to get *both* strongholds .... it never was for me. But I am not quite awake yet so I can't tell you if you have to do the quests in the right order to succeed. So maybe you have to do the sphere quest first or the de'Arnise keep or vice versa. Actually I always got both keeps. If it doesn't work - use an old savegame :D or ... check the links below, the best ones are above ;)

Edit: So - if I can trust my post in the first link you need to do the planar sphere first ;)

I just found out sth regarding getting 2 strongholds from Dan Simpson's BG2/ToB FAQ.

Following is quoted from his writing
"
Anyway, part of the experimenting was to see if he can get a stronghold for
each class and I found he can. He cleared out the de'Arnise keep first with
Nalia in the group, but initially refused to take over (I believe the
response used was something along the lines of ''I don't think I'm the
right person for this'').

Note: You could also simply not talk to her after clearing out the
Stronghold. (Robert Pay)

Then he went and cleared the Planar Sphere immediately after. At the end,
he was granted the Sphere by Lavok and it became the character's
stronghold. I found that if I accepted the keep from Nalia first, Lavok did
not grant the Sphere.

Then, I went back to the de'Arnise keep and told Nalia I would agree to her
proposition to lend his name to the keep and the keep became his stronghold
as well.

Does anyone know if any of the other strongholds will function like the castle does in this matter? I mean, is it possible to get any other stronghold in conjunction with another one?

generally yes - some of the links above content posts about that. I always got both strongholds as a fightr-thief & fighter-mage and I remember someone posting that he, as a fighter-mage-thief, got even three strongholds.

If you want to know more: Use the search term "stronghold" on the search engine, that's how I found the links above.

It may work with the multi class, but not with the dual class. My fighter / cleric had taken the fighter stronghold, then he didn't get any stronghold quest from the temple.

I think thatīs too bad... If you are dualled or multied(?) you should be able to get both SH.

Let's end this one.

1. You can only get two strongholds if your dc or mc is of fighter combo.

2. You must get non-fighter stronghold first and only then you'll be allowed to get D'Arnise Keep as second stronghold - it doesn't work if you got fighter stronghold first.

3. Official Patch fixes this glitch. So no fighter stronghold as second if you installed it. The whole thing is actually a bug.

4. With or without official patch you still CAN take any other stronghold beside fighter's - IF YOU CHEAT! There is Global Variable "PlayerHasStronghold" that is set to value 1 if you already have a stronghold - so you just have to switch it back to value 0 in your "baldur.gam" save file. I strongly suggest that you use hex editor for this and not any of savegame utils.
