View Full Version : Legendary Weapon Comments

Now that I have all the artifact weapons (except for the Gesen Bow; that still burns me up...), I thought I'd comment on them (though I've just completed them and haven't used them much yet)...

Crom Faer - The best artifact IMO (the only +5 artifact right?)and the hardest one to retrieve all the pieces for. Shadow Dragon, lots of Mind Flayers without the benefit of Full Plate +5, powerful cannibalistic Halfling mages, and 5 Demon Knights... Tough indeed... Well worth the 10000 gp forging cost too.

The Wave - Not partial to halberds, but seems like it would make a good special purpose weapon, and +4 is nice. Parts not too difficult to come by, though the head was pretty cheaply placed... The Halberd +4 Dragonsbreath is almost as good, was easier to get and didn't have to be forged at 7500 gp.

Silver Vorpal Sword - Another tough fight to complete; was it worth it? Eight howling Githyanki after your blood! Did you notice that one was an anti-paladin? :) Enemies saving versus death 25% of hits or dying might come in handy... For me two-handedness is a minus... 7500 gp forging cost as well.

The Equalizer - Parts, though not easy to obtain, were almost thrown in your lap... "Only" +3... Lilarcor is pretty much the same thing in two handed form and much funnier... Of course the Equalizer is better than Lilarcor for most alignments, but it's worse for some... The good thing is it's a one handed weapon; bad thing is it costs 7500 gp to forge... This weapon really is balanced eh? :)

I'm not to bothered about getting any of them apart from the crom faeyr, I have a level 9-11 party, what level should I go get it?

Well, you're not going to be able to complete it until Chapter 6 because the last piece is in the Underdark, so whenever you feel ready to go pick up Imoen, go for it...

Crom Fayer is not the onlt +5 artifact. Casomyr is +5 and the Staff of the Magi counts as one. If you want to complete the Gesen bow in the future, the shaft is in the tanner shop in the Bridge district and the string is in the second part of the Asylum dungeon. ( top right corner of the map, guarded by 3 golums )

What I meant by artifacts are the weapons you have to gather pieces for and have Cromwell reforge for you; perhaps that's not a correct interpretation on my part...

As to the Gesen Bow, I am the victim of the "interrupted dialog" bug and cannot begin the Tanner quest because I wasn't told of the witnesses. I actually have the string among my loot... Hopefully a patch to correct this will come out before I finish! :)

Blackthorne TA your problem with the tanner quest -
Is he dead yet ?
I ask this because I was really getting annoyed with this quest as I couldn't get him to admit to the murders.
I got caught in the elephant hide loop.
Anyway I attacked him as his thugs weren't very strong and finished the quest even though I didn't have any evidence against him.
The guard at the gate was annoyed I had challenged the tanner but as he was guilty didn't care and gave me the experience.
Also got the bow ;)

No, the tanner's not dead, but I have absolutely no evidence, so the quest really hasn't even begun, and I can't get any evidence because none of the witnesses will give me any. When I go into his shop he is just standing there, and the game won't let me go down his stairs, and if I talk to him he just says his shop is closed, come back later...

Just try attacking him to finish the quest.
I didn't have enough evidence and was being lead in cicles.
Hit him and this let me get downstairs.
He runs away so you can't kill him.
Didn't recieve any reputation loss either.
Try it if it goes wrong reload.

Hmmm... I may try this... But really, I'm more interested in the quest than the spoils! :) Thanks!
