In looking through my BG2 Manual that was son conviniently included on the CD, I found that in the tables there were rogue abilities called Detect Noise, Climb Walls, and Read Languages. Having played throught the entire BG Series without ever seeing these abilities, I was just wondering if someone could offer an explanation on them.

These feats are not implementet in BG2 as far as I know...

Those skills are the parts of pure Second Edition AD&D, and are not implemented in the game. They are bard&thief skills. (like pick pockets, hide in shadows etc.)

Detect Noise: You already hear what you should in the game. It would be cool if you could try to listen the sounds by a locked/closed door or wall though.

Climb walls:Hey the game is NOT 3D, how can 2D graphics climb a wall?

Read Languagaes: Well AFAIK %99,9 of the in-game language is English so....

BTW there are Non-Wepaon Proficiencies (optional rule) in 2nd edition AD&D, but as they are 'optional' the game didn't implement those too, thankfully, otherwise it could be as overwhelmingly confusing and buggy as IWD2. NWPs are fun to have and essential in Pen and Paper, but not in an action-based computer game.

What about Viconia!

 Perhaps 'Common' would be a better substitute than 'English', Caradhras? Viconia would know Common anyway; look at the time she's spent on the surface. Beisdes, there are more non-Common speakers in-game than a measly outcast drow - Korgan, svirfneblin and duergar to name a few.

Yeah, those skills are more for PnP games than CRPGs. Though Detect Noise could be swapped for Listen: notice how one person will 'see' an enemy first? I see this more in BG1, though. Climb Walls - hey, some of those treasure nooks are hard to get at! ;) Read Languages - bards especially in identifying those scrolls and wands.

Yep, common. My mistake. :p

Viccy's drow lines make her much more interesting and cool if you ask me. A lady with mysteries. I love it.
