The mage spell "Detect evil" is described as being a level 1 mage spell, but appears on the level 2 page in the mage spellbook. So.... which one is it, then? Not that I really care, in most of the game it´s pretty obvious who´s the bad guys, just wondering. I guess I´m too lazy to go look in the rulebooks.

Does it matter?
I just get Keldorn to do it.

Like I said, not that I really REALLY care, but then again, sometimes people wonder about the strangest things....

I think it's a level 1 clerical spell, hence the error.

The actual level the game treats it as will be whichever spellbook page it appears on; if there's a discrepancy between the spellbook page and the descriptive text then it is the text which is wrong. :)

Come to think of it, I don't think mages were even allowed to cast detect evil in the older AD&D games.
It should be a first level spell though. But you're right, BG2 treats it as a level 2 spell by mistake.
