Have a multiplayer game and create all the characters yourself, a bard, a mage, a cleric, etc. And each time you could get a stronghold, you switch the corresponding character to the leader of your party so that you are given the chance to get it. Is there anything to stop you from doing that?

yep, there is something to stop you, the one you get first the only one you can have. and it can only be the main chars stronghold, sucks huh?

Yes I think the game remembers when you acquire your first stronghold, and you can't get another one. Just like the Multiclass thingie, you just say no to the ones you don't want and agree on the one you want and after that you can't get another one. Whoever is switched to leadership doesn't matter after that. I can be wrong, but that seems to be the most logical explenation.

A ploy to get you to play multiple times perhaps?
Heh what am I talking about? This is a great game and gives the player lots of incentive to play again.

and by making the story ever so slightly differnt for every class thats what they did. in bg1 it was follow this story no matter what you are, they changed that pretty good. only problem is they didnt make enough "bosses".

Well they tried to, having a tough guy at the end of most quests, but be honest, how many of those were "really hard" to the point you had to reload 5-6 times.
