How do you import your BG character to BG2? I've played them before but didn't do it, and on my second run through I want to give it a shot. I need pretty detailed instructions, like you're telling a 5 yr. old or something.

Okay, if you go into the directory where Baldur's Gate 1 is installed, there is a folder called 'characters'. If you go in there, then there should be a file named CHAR1 which was exported at the end of BG1. If you copy this file, then go to the directory where BG2 is installed, and paste it into the 'characters' folder in this directory, then when you go into the game and have selected new game, you should be able to import your character.

All righty, to import BG1 characters into BG2:

<u>From a character file</u>
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Start BG1 and load a game containing the character you wish to import into BG2.
<LI>Go to the record screen of the aforementioned character and click on Export. Type a name and click done, then quit the game.
<LI>Using Windows Explorer, go to the Characters directory located in your main Baldur's Gate directory.
<LI>Right-click on the character file you just created (it has a .CHR extension) and select Copy.
<LI>Now go to the characters directory located in your BG2 SoA directory. Right-click on this directory and select Paste. You should now see your character file appear in this directory.
<LI>Start BG2. When creating a new PC, just click on the Import button and select Character File, then select your character from the list.[/list]

<u>From a savegame</u>
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Using Windows Explorer, go to the Save directory located in your main Baldur's Gate directory.
<LI>Right-click on the savegame directory you wish to import from and select Copy.
<LI>Now go to the save directory located in your BG2 - SoA directory. Right-click on this directory and select Paste. You should now see your savegame appear in this directory.
<LI>Start BG2. When creating a new PC, just click on the Import button and select Saved Game, then select your character from the list.[/list]
