Ok, so I kno that if you wanna change a NPC's audio, you have to replace their audio files with identically named new files, but where can I find the originals? Anyone?

If you are referring to the sounds you can assign to your PC, they are in the 'Sounds' folder in the BG2 directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\sounds)

Hope that helps. :rolling:

The replacement sounds for NPCs need to go into the Override folder.

To find out what they're called I would suggest using a program like Infinity Explorer... Look at http://modlist.pocketplane.net under the Tools section to get it.

I thought this would be the proper place for this. I'm trying to mod my players sound files. I'm finding it difficult, could anyone hereh elp me out on how. I tried downloading a few sound kits and reading them but they're very vague on what to do with the sounds.

This is taken directly from fhajil's post:

Does anyone know where or when all 31 of the character sound files are played?

(XXXXXX1_ through XXXXXXz and
XXXXXX10 through XXXXXX19)

I would like to know so I can assign my files accordingly, thanks

<EDIT> Never mind, I answered my own question by searching your archives, it was posted by camdawg earlier this year:

still confused...

i want to change NPC's audio. I.E. valygar, aerie, etc.

if you want to change the protagonist (pc)'s audio, put the files in Sound file

You will have to use Near Infinity to look for their audio file (ie Aerie's sound files are aerie**.wav), then you can replace them with your own files (just rename and copy them to the override folder will do).

Btw Near Infinity can't play the files without an additional plugins, I don't remember its name, but you can get it at Black Wyrm's Lair (in the TeamBG download section)

ack - greystar's list is useful, but applies to PCs only.

NPCs seem to use a strict numerical coding in Wav files.

Example: AERIE01, AERIE13, AERIE30, etc.

I have no idea what each suffix number represents (critical hit, selection, etc.). However, by replacing them in the override files, my NPCs have much better audios, despite ill placed.

We've got progress!

Funny thing is, now Aerie makes a death scream when ever she is selected. Hilarious!!

Funny thing is, now Aerie makes a death scream when ever she is selected. Hilarious!! That's a quick fix...you just named once of her .wav files wrong, go back and rename them.

As for all you guys who are still confused:

#1: First read through Greystar's post to see all the possible file names for the files you want to replace.

#2: If you want to have Aerie use your voice instead of her own, you'll have to record a short clip of each type of response listed in Greystar's post.

#3: After you have a full list of recorded sounds, you'll have to rename each of your sound files with the corrisponding file name that you are going to replace.

#4: After you have renamed all of your sound files, move them all to the override folder in the BG2 directory(i.e. C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\override)

#5: If you still don't know what to do, try playing around with the game until you are VERY comfortable with how to play the game, and how the game works..then try again!

If that doesn't help, I don't know what will. :rolling:
