View Full Version : Disappearing weapon, ring, armor

Two problems:
1)Nalia keeps dropping Arbanes Sword +2 in the Sahaugian City. I have not used it to cast Haste. She has entirely lost her signet ring in the start of the Under dark.

If this is a bug I wouldn't feel too bad punching in a code to retrieve the items but how to code for Nalia's signet ring?
It's too good an item to do without and now I am starting the Underdark over again to get it back. Hopefully, it doesn't keep dissappearing.

2)In the Underdark, I equipped my party(myself, Minsc and Jaheira) with Drow +5 mail and shield +3 and stored my own armor in Bag of Holding. After resting, the Drow armor dissappears and <I> my armor appears again, already equipped!</I>
I know that Drow armor is not permanent but the automatic re-equipping of my stuff is weird.

Does anyone have a fix for Nalia or a comment on the Drow armor?
Thanks.

Items vanishing from your inventory could be done if your inventory is filled and you pick up an item that is given to you.

"I am over loaded and have dropped an item on the ground" will then be heard, if you have the sound on.

This is one way many people lose items, because they don't notice an item has been dropped and removed from their own inventory on that character to make room for the new item.

Don't put anything into the bag of holding until the patch is released. It eats items up and is seriously bugged. Many have lost important quest items after they vanish from this magical holding bag.

Nalias inventory is not half full.
Nalia's Signet Ring, Arbane's sword and her Robe of Fire Protection were all equipped.
I even thought that Nalia's signet ring couldn't be removed.
The sword kept dropping but the Robe and Signet ring simply disappeared.

This is very sad news about the Bag of Holding as I do have quest items in it. Since I am in the Underdark, there is no place to stash them.

I have gone to an archived save, just before Underdark, and made a complete list of all items worn and in scroll cases and gem/bag of holding.
If the Bag of Holding loses items randomly and I make and archive many saves, I might be able to safely continue until I can return to the upperworld again.

Thanks for your interest.

I've had Aerie drop her weapon because of a panic attack (fear spell cast on her)...

You can always use Shadowkeeper to get the items back.

Blackthorne:
In the Sahaugian city, there was an instance where Nalia was "panicked" and this might explain her dropping the sword. Thanks.
But how to explain the total disappearance of equipped signet ring and robe of fire resistance in the Underdark?

Amazing Oopah:
What is Shadowkeeper?

Shadowkeeper is a trainer for Baldur's Gate II.

I've had this happen to me as well. But I never (yeah, this is embarassing) even contemplated that it was due to some 'panic' or 'fear' that happened in a battle. It does indeed make sense however. Some of the spell descriptions that deal with panic idicate 'this freakout response'. As far as 'rings and armor'? Perhaps they just loose thier minds in the midst of battle and start 'strippin'. You know like the Indian guy in PREDATOR.

LOL to the Predator comment. I needed that.

What do you think of this?
Quote:
"Have you fought the Drow patrol at approximately the centre of the Underdark?
If so, your items have probably been drained by the Nishruu that some of the Drow summon.
The Nishruu hit you, they drain a spell effect or magic item, and items totally drained disappear."

I did fight the Drow and the timing would have been correct for the item losses.

If the losses aren't due to a bug, then I wouldn't feel right using the CLUAconsole commands or the Shadowkeeper trainer.
*Maybe I am Paladin at heart ;) *

Thanks for the input.

BTW- Predator is one of my all time fav SCI-Fi flicks!

Nishruu & Hakeashar's definitely can drain & destroy 'charged' items. However items that have 'no charges' such as protection rings, shields, boots etc should not be effected. Per the manual's definition of what those summoned creatures can do. However the other posts sure make a lot of sense.

Panicked characters, overloaded inventories, glitchy bag of holding (I've never had a problem yet & I keep mine full til' I can sell/unload the stuff) and the like. Perhaps some items can be destroyed... in battle? Dunno but I would reload (as you've already done) if an 'important' item came up missing. Archiving games is a true RPG must. It also 'chronicles' your feats & victories!

So, is there any word on when we can expect a patch to fix the bag of holding bug?

November 17. That's the best I can give you.
