When Yoshimo goes bad, and you have to fight him etc., can I use the console enable cheat keys, force him into my group, kill him, get his heart or whatever then raise him from the dead? Or will this not work?

View Full Version : Yoshimo and SPOILER reepnorp Sat, 6th Sep '03, 6:25pm When Yoshimo goes bad, and you have to fight him etc., can I use the console enable cheat keys, force him into my group, kill him, get his heart or whatever then raise him from the dead? Or will this not work? Blast Skeleton Sat, 6th Sep '03, 6:27pm No, Yoshimo is removed from the game, after the encounter with Irenicus. I could be wrong, though. LKD Sat, 6th Sep '03, 7:24pm Reepnorp, I'm not sure why you would want to force him into your group -- Once you kill him, you'll get his heart (if you follow the appropriate dialogue options, of course). If somehow you screwed thatup, you could console in his heart and take it from there, IIRC. Sparhawk the Pandion Sun, 7th Sep '03, 4:07pm I think he wants to use Yoshimo as a party member. I have no idea whether it'd work or not. LKD Sun, 7th Sep '03, 4:14pm Once he's dead, he's dead -- that's the end of it -- he cannot be raised. I've never tried consoling him in after the Spellhold adventure, but I do know that if you decided not to take him to Spellhold, and you return to the Copper Coronet, he dies (the geas takes him). I'd be willing to bet that this is time indexed, so if you were to console him in, as soon as he appears, the computer will run a time index, and he'll die again. CamDawg Sun, 7th Sep '03, 5:08pm I do not believe it's on a timer. If you click to talk to Yoshimo the instant you enter the CC, you can get him to join and stay with the party indefinitely. However, the current Baldurdash closes this exploit. Sir Ai Rayzor Sun, 7th Sep '03, 6:01pm Once you kill him, you'll get his heart What can you use the Heart for ? CamDawg Sun, 7th Sep '03, 6:40pm You can take his heart to a temple of Ilmater so that Yoshimo's soul can be forgiven. You get XP for it as well. Rastor Mon, 8th Sep '03, 12:04am IIRC, Yoshimo's script causes him to die if you're over Chapter 4, so I don't see any exploit working. Aikanaro Mon, 8th Sep '03, 8:58am Wow, that is the cheesiest thing I've ever heard  LKD Mon, 8th Sep '03, 6:42pm That is strange. The way I understood things, Yoshimo was under a geas, one that he entered voluntarily. My logic is (assuming you did not have him in your party), since he failed to be part of your trip to Spellhold, he failed at his geas. That is why he dies if you go to the CC after returning from Spellhold -- the geas kills him. I actually quite enjoy the Yoshimo storyline -- it's nice to see a character with some moral ambiguity. I think that the business with his heart should be linked to your alignment -- a Paladin or other good aligned character should be penalized somehow if they fail to show Yoshimo the requisite mercy. And an evil character should be penalized somehow if he does show mercy. Kitrax Tue, 9th Sep '03, 4:30am I think it sucks that there is no possible way to keep him from dieing. I mean, sure he made a horrible mistake, but that doesn't mean that he should have to permently die. One of the many mods that I have been thinking about making in the future would be a small mod where after Yoshi's dead, with the help of Saemon Harviarian (sp) and after a few small quests you would be able to bring him back to life...and be able to keep him in your party with dialog through out ToB. :rolling: CamDawg Tue, 9th Sep '03, 5:58am OK, here's the full Yoshimo exploit: upon returning from Spellhold, you enter the Copper Coronet and immediately pause. Click on Yoshimo to talk and then add him to your party. He dies from his geas, but since he's in the party, you can resurrect him and keep him around indefinitely. It's all moot, since Baldurdash closes this loophole. @Kitrax I believe you can redeem Yoshimo in the Tortured Souls mod, but it certainly doesn't count as a "small mod." Kitrax Tue, 9th Sep '03, 6:23am I wouldn't play Tortured Souls even if you paid me. But I might just check it out just to see how they let you "redeem" Yoshi...that is, on someone else's computer. :rolling: Wil Tue, 9th Sep '03, 12:28pm In the walkthru by Dan Simpson (available in this site), it is explained how to keep Yoshimo. It seems you can take him further than the CC. Kitrax Wed, 10th Sep '03, 12:05am Sweet! Thanks Wil...you just saved me from certain pain and aggony. :D :rolling: CamDawg Wed, 10th Sep '03, 4:34am I think the exploit in DSimpson's FAQ is the same one I mentioned, which is fixed by Baldurdash. :( Aikanaro Wed, 10th Sep '03, 6:33am Bringing Yoshimo back to life would take away from his story. Maybe you could be visited by his ghost or something, but not actually end up useful. Death has to be final sometimes. |
