For anyone (especially beginners like myself) interested in adding depth to your BG2 experience there is a most excellent and immersing guide and info site crafted by one of the moderators on this board. Go to:

"Baldur’s Gate II Solution" is a work in progress that already contains a great spell listing, NPC bios with nice personal touches, and political and geographical entries that open the doors to Amn and welcome you in with style. Sylvus is apparently including walkthroughs as he explores. The couple that I have glanced over seemed detailed yet they are not clinical and they keep you in an appropriate “fantasy” atmosphere. From NPC quirks and market prices to hints that will help you choose your path, the “Solution” has a great feel to it and I plan on referring to it often.
My thanks to Sylvus for allowing me to begin my escape into Amn before I even start playing the game.

Indeed, Sylvus has truly earned the title of our Official Walkthrough Scribe.
By the way, this forum and the rest are all part of Sorcerer's Place (http://www.sorcerers.net), which contains the two great walkthroughs Sylvus has created thus far, plus all the rest of the stuff I've put online in the year or so since I created the first BG section that started the avalanche we're rolling in still. ;)
