I'm looking to round out my party with one more fighter-type, and I haven't decided who to choose out of these three.

Please don't tell me Korgan, he doesn't fit (thanks!).

Anyway, I'm not really into backstabbing, so that might influence this decision. The rest of my party is as follows:

Gnome Ftr/Ill (Protagonist)
Aerie: Mg/Clr
Keldorn: Pal
Jaheira: Ftr/Drd
Yoshimo: Thief (later Imoen)

Thanks in advance!

mazzy

you've already got enough tanks up front, mazzy's short bow will whittle down anything

Mazzy has the potential to be the best fighter in the game. She is hampered by 17Str, but this is easily fixed by a girdle. Because she is a pure-class fighter, she can have 5* in a weapon type. I know she starts off with short sword, but with her skill points and the strength bonuses from girdle they don't prove too limiting and there are some cool short swords. Plus, is you want another archer then she is the best in the game. She also has some useful special abilities that make her a bit like a Paladin.

Valygar is hte most fun to play, but to really utilize him you need to backstab and such and as you are not interested in it I would recommend Mazzy, even if she is an annoying little runt with many irritating weapen proficiences.

Yeah, I agree. Go with Mazzy. She's a fun NPC, a good archer and has a cool voice.

Klorox, I'm afraid there's been a board glitch which resulted in your poll being deleted... The poll file is physically not on the server any more, so I can't do anything to bring it back. Sorry. Feel free to post the thread again if your mind is set on a poll, not just a standard thread. I'll remove the poll tag from this thread, so it will appear merely as a regular thread from now on.

Would like to say Minsc, but he is the most amusing one -not the best one. Since Valygar is limited to 2 profiency points per skill, and his ranger skills are rather useless, I have to say that the pure fighter (with some nifty bonuses) is the best choise -Mazzy.

But she has never found her way to my party, though. ;)

Frankly I'd take Minsc since you never can have too many tanks when you already have two clerics, two mages and a thief. You only have one 'pure' warrior and that's Keldorn (albeit he's an army on his own). You already have Yoshimo for backstabbing, so that leaves Valygar out.

Also I like Minsc more. Valygar seems like he's got a stick up his arse and I can't stand having more than one 'holier-than-thou-follow-the-righteous-path-paladin-like' pary member and I like Keldorn as a person far more than Mazzy (besides its good to have some real wisdom in the group).

You want an amusing and versatile character? try Minsc, not a bad fighter and it's really cool in terms of roleplaying. You want the ultimate halfling-machine gun? try Mazzy, the Gesen Bow and watch the enemy fall!

Valygar only comes into the picture if you are great believer in backstabs.

If you have a Good Cleric then Mazzy can be got pretty early, IF you can bear to leave a Dragon alive ;) . This makes her a very versatile pure fighter. But you do need to give her a strength enhancing item to get her up front.

Minsc, however, can librally kick evil butt standing toe-to-toe from the very begining. And he has more HP.

IMO Minsc is the best of these three.

FEH?!

Do you mean "good" as in quality or "good" as in alignment...?

The rest I just plain don't get. Minsc, Yoshimo and my dual-classed priestess//thief went straight from Irenicus' dungeon to the Copper Coronet to recruit Anomen and Nalia, and then we headed right for Umar Hills, rescued Mazy, and then proceeded to kick Shade-Dragon-arse. No Shadowkeeper, no cheats, and no cheese -- but a half dozen reloads, LOL. And I'm not even that good! (Meant as in quality, not alignment -- although I am neutral good, lol.)

PS: There's a perfectly free strength-enhancing item available in a certain place in the slums.... ;) (Well, plus Mazzy herself can do a fairly good job on her own buffing herself when it really counts, at leasty early on.)

hmmm I don't really like Valygar since he can't really be used as a tank. Well I suppose he could if you gave him the right equipment, but I my suggestion is to take Minsc. Give him the Warblade and he's a buttkicking machine! :)

Or if you would prefer, take Mazzy. I have used her before and found she is quite good dual-wielding short swords.
