View Full Version : Stuck up in a tree
Dreor Mon, 4th Jun '01, 4:01pm I'm almost at the end, I just killed the last of the parasites and am now fighting Jon. The problem is no matter quickly I try to dispell his defences he keeps casting time stop. In longest battle with him he cast this 4 times in a row. I have the Vorpol sword but I just cant seem to take him down. Any suggestions would be great.
Lord Praetor Munir Mon, 4th Jun '01, 4:18pm ok.. i just fought Joneleth.. the Problem with Irenicus is that... he casts Absolute Immunity and then SImalucrum and then time stop.. then he casts Ice Storm and Abi Dalzhims horrid wilting and a stun or death symbol.. all this during time stop...
I still dunno how to remove Absolute Immunity.. but worry not coz Absolute Immunity lasts for what.. 4 round.. use ur tank to attack his SImalucrum... then move all ur other characters away.. the way in which the battle starts cannot be controlled... now.. ur tank will be the main target of his spells... ur other characters should use ranged weapons...
now use ur tank to distract Jon.. run around to the SOuthwest corner outside the range of Abi DAlzhim's horrid wilting.. after Absolute Immunity wears out.. cast Pierce Magic on him and several breach spells on him.. he has Improved Mantle and Protection RED AND BLUE... after that... u can hack and slash at him with Crom FAeyr or any other powerful weapon you should have by then.. now ur other characters can also attack him close range if they're better at it.. keep attacking him constantly so all his spells are disrupted and then he should be seeing u in hell soon...
Captain Spud Mon, 4th Jun '01, 10:22pm thats strategy works...but instead you could just cast true seeing at the begining and it will dispel illusions all through the fight...not that there are many...just a thought...
Lokken Mon, 4th Jun '01, 10:56pm ruby ray of reversal, breach, true sight and another ruby ray of reversal should do the hte trick. If you cast horrid wiltin you might disrupt his spell casting buying you some extra time
joacqin Mon, 4th Jun '01, 11:41pm Not to be cocky but i didnt think that there were anyone that had trouble with Irenicus. I have killed him thrice and all times i didnt even registered really. I just hacked and slashed at him with all my tanks. he never casted time stop. I only play the core rules maybe thats the thing but i think the dragons atleast the two first ones and Kangaxx is a h*ll of alot harder than Irenicus.
Tyresian Tue, 5th Jun '01, 1:19am By the time you fight irenicus you should have a couple timestop scrolls. Put those things to good use man!! If things go wrong, RUN. Then retaliate. Read nobleman's solo post for ideas. Run, run, and more run.
Oh yeah, summon a nishru first. Then when he deathspells it (which he will) summon another and run away. For some reason he doesnt cast death spell again even though he has like 10 memorized.
Lord Praetor Munir Tue, 5th Jun '01, 8:50am he's a sorceror.. so he doesnt really need to memorize spells... anyway.. does anybody know how to dispell absolute immunity?
Headbanger Tue, 5th Jun '01, 11:25am I found out that the level 8 spell Pierce Shield works very good on him.
Earl Grey Tue, 5th Jun '01, 12:17pm Actually I believe that Jon is a Mage-30 (not sorcerer) and that he has two - not ten - Death Spells memorized in Hell.
(I used Infinity Explorerer)
Ruby Ray of Reversal can dispel Absolute Immunity.

Lord Praetor Munir Tue, 5th Jun '01, 5:26pm ruby ray of reversal.. u know.. i have 3 mages in my group but ive never used Ruby Ray of Reversal.. ive always found Pierce Magic sufficient.. and then Irenicus used this absolute immunity thingy and i did the tango around him for 4 rounds! personally.. i find the spell's name very very cheesy... Ruby Ray?? man.. well.. ill go use that next time around...
Tyresian Tue, 5th Jun '01, 9:29pm Earl, this is jon in the tree, not hell. Im not sure about his spells in hell but i Ctrl+Q on him when he was in the tree. Im not sure about the exact number of deathspells but he has the page filled up, same with flame arrows and all thes other lower level spells.
Kerric Thu, 7th Jun '01, 10:33am My tactic was like this, wait until absolute immunity is gone, then bombard him with dispel magic, pirce magic and breach and all of those dispel protection spells. Then I attacked with my Half-orc swinging two axes, Keldorn with Holy Avenger, Amoen(Priest) with Crom fayer.
I had to reload a few times, but finally kicked his butt.
