View Full Version : Imoen
Ilmater's Suffering Tue, 10th Jan '06, 4:43pm I'm noticing Imoen isn't effected by panic even when she fails her spell save (I want to say this has been happening for years, but I honestly can't remember). She has the panic symbol in her potrait, but she doesn't turn yellow and I can still control her. I can't imagine this is what is suppose to happen (unless this is part of her Bhaalspawn powers). Does anyone know of a fix for this floating around out on the web? Baldurdash and "here" do not seem to have anything that deals with this.
kuemper Tue, 10th Jan '06, 5:22pm When does this happen? In Irenicus' dungeon, her belt has special powers to keep her safe. Later ingame, did you cast Resist/Remove Fear? Sometimes when I cast either spell and the NPCs get scared anyway, they have the fear icon on their portraits, but are still controllable.
Ilmater's Suffering Tue, 10th Jan '06, 5:47pm then it would be her belt as if was a new game I just started (the key reason I never get anywhere in RPGs, I just keep starting new games to try different things), never realized her belt actually did anything... Another question I have is regarding Minsc, his base Thac0 use to be 14 for me when I broke him out of his cell, as of late though, it's been 13 for his base (when he's "naked"). Don't understand why Minsc has a better Thac0 then other fighters the same level as him.
Nevermind this, it's easy enough to use the Shadow Keeper to get level 7 Minsc back up to Thac0 14

starwalker Tue, 10th Jan '06, 10:38pm Check Minsc's level. When You add him to the party it seems to fluctuate by a couple levels. He could be a level higher than normal. This last game when I grabbed him he was actually a level lower than he's listed in this book I have. Hitpoints and thaco and everything. I'm to understand that Jaheira has this possibility to from something I was reading. don't remember where.
JiggaJay Tue, 10th Jan '06, 10:44pm His enormous 18/97 str could have something to do with his THACO too.
kuemper Tue, 10th Jan '06, 11:18pm Glad I could help.
Minsc - did he go up a level? I think leveling up changes your base THAC0 (no armor and weapons). His strength does affect it, but not enough to make it get better without a level-up.
Ilmater's Suffering Tue, 10th Jan '06, 11:24pm it appeared to be a little bug, deleted the game and restarted and everything appeared to be fine now.
Aces Wed, 11th Jan '06, 7:12am Minsc:
He like many other characters aren't always stat correct when you pick them up (thaco, saving throws, etc...). But at first level up the game fixes this.
Another note on Misc. He has 8 weapon skill points when a level 7/8 ranger should have 6. This pizzed me off when an idiot like him can can this extra learning, so I used SK to give my Paladin PC two extra weapon skill points too.
Felinoid Wed, 11th Jan '06, 7:26am Another note on Misc. He has 8 weapon skill points when a level 7/8 ranger should have 6. This pizzed me off when an idiot like him can can this extra learning, so I used SK to give my Paladin PC two extra weapon skill points too. Rangers get Two Weapon Style as a bonus. Minsc has as many as he's supposed to (Valygar too); your paladin, OTOH, is cheating. :p
Aces Wed, 11th Jan '06, 7:42am Huh?
I didn't know that. :o
Do Rangers dualed to Clerics get the bonus too?
Felinoid Wed, 11th Jan '06, 7:50am All rangers; single, multi, dual, whatever. They all get it at level 1, and even a cleric dualled to a ranger (is that possible in BG2? I can't remember) would have it right after the dual. On a side note, they should have tracking right away too, but that got left out and was later added as an HLA instead.
Aces Wed, 11th Jan '06, 8:49am This doesn't effect BG1 then?
Minsc only had 6 skill points at the end.
No wonder I never noticed.
I didn't think that was a change.
I must not have read the class stats for BG2 close enough on Rangers.
starwalker Wed, 11th Jan '06, 9:40am In Second Edition Rangers are supposed to have a unique power to dual wield without penalties. All others that do it suffer a bit of a penalty for it as long as you were wearing lighter armors(the stuff thieves wear I think. been ages).
However that's not implemented in the BG games so they gave them the two bonus Dual Wield dots instead and the ability to gain the third.
3.5 has it all fouled up too and I'll probably never dual wield again if I ever play that.
Felinoid Wed, 11th Jan '06, 6:02pm This doesn't effect BG1 then?
Minsc only had 6 skill points at the end. Well, there's no weapon styles in BG1 (an oversight, to be sure) so they couldn't really give it to him. But Spider's Bane does well enough in Minsc's hands. ;)
Aces Thu, 12th Jan '06, 2:58am Well in the game my Paladin used Spider's Bane.
I had to Gate Keeper Minsc to use Halbreds.
In BG2 however there are enough 2 handed swords to go around. My Undead Hunter gets the Holy Avenger naturally, and Minsc gets the Vorpal Blade.
Ouch!
You don't want to mess with those two tanks!
:D
