Do you know any good ones? I was thinking maybe a Dual classed Wizard Slayer/Mage or the other way around. Please help me out on this I'm trying to squeeze as much as I can out of this game before it gets boring. Any suggestions are welcome. :)

D/C or M/C Ranger Cleric is my suggestion. Also about the DC Wiz Slayer/Mage that would be one hypocritical guy ;).

uh huh, thought of the WS/M dual class too man, but thus althought the WS is a Mage's worst nightmare, the fact that you cant use magical items cept for armor and weapons, kinda crippes him alot when you dual :(

But try this one Beserker/Mage, now this is a dual classed nightmare from hell, imagine casting all prot spells you can, then use your rage abillity, dual wielding Daystar & Celestrial Fury, now thats unleashing a deadly force, a one m/w wrecking machine..hehe

Yeah but I just played a F/M kinda sick of it(too easy). A DC WS/M would be fun soloing though. I'd just use nothing but a single weapon(any suggestions) :). Maybe a mc fighter/druid? Or a halfing kensai dual wielding clubs? The possibilites are endless I suppose.

yeah they are alot of different combo's, but I heard a Gnome T/I is fun too...You could d/l some of the kits listed here too, some are pretty ok and a somewhat challenge :)

If you feel like being a superhero, try a multi-class Ranger-Cleric. Why? First, they're limited to only blunt weapons, but they get a ranger's two extra points put automatically into two-weapon style, leaving you six points to spread out in whatever weapon you want. This is especially neat when you get Crom Faeyr, because now you can dual it with the Flail of the Ages.

Also, for some reason, Ranger-Clerics will learn both Cleric and Druid spells all the way up to the 7th casting level, giving you a wider selection of spells to choose from than a regular Cleric.

Wow never thought of it that way, sounds like a awesome PC, althought I personally think Flail of Ages aint worth much, but if you use Mace of Disruption instead...Hmmmm evil indeed, too bad for the undeads I figure :)

Personally I prefer the dc kensai-mage to other dc options since the best thing a mage can do is to wear a good robe so the AC bonus really pays off then.

As for wizardslayer-mage: I see a clear ropleplaying conflict there: A wizardslayer has been rained and educated by a sect of fanatical-mage-haters ... only to become a mage then ??! Why should a fanatic countermage decide to dc into a mage ? to be better able to fight mages at last ??? However, the magic resistance would come in handy.

btw - IIRC WS's can't use healing potions when you haven't ToB installed.

Finally - have you ever considered to dual your fighter into a thief ;)

Well, I've never really done that before but it would be pretty easy to do. I have my fighter from BG1 who maxed out at 161,00 experience. I will check it out as soon as I get the game again! The more I post the more I want it! I think I'm gonna go rob Comp USA

[edit]

Oh by the way, I missed-spelled challenges and I can't fix it(can the moderator do this for me?). It's not which class that would be the best I'm looking for; more what would be fun and a challenge :).

WS/Mage -> do you know any better weapons vs mages than breach, true sight etc etc? I see the roleplaying.. Besides a lot of people are calling others arrogant while they themselves are masters at it. It's not unusual that people hate character traits which they have themselves, so I don't really see the problem with the classes either.

Fighter/Thief -> This is a very powerful combination, but the problem is I really like having a thief around to disarm traps/open locks. I don't want to be waiting half of my game to be able to dual class him, that's why I prefer the multi class version.

Fighter/Mage -> kensai if you will. I am now running an experiment with the DC fighter/mage. He just reached level 9f/10m so I can't really tell you much about it, but I expect it to be very powerful because my spells are way harder to interrupt (shield which reflect missile attacks). He has over 100hp, and in combat you can finally put those spells which make powerful swords to use. spell immunity finally becomes usefull because enemies usually target front line fighters with imprisonment.

fighter/cleric -> played this be4 and is very powerful. he has the thac0 of a fighter, almost has the hp of the fighter, and can cast spells to boost his power far beyond fighter level. He hardly misses any spells compared to the cleric, just be sure to dual class him at level 6-9, only drawback is that he can only use cleric weapons, like crom flail of ages etc etc. drawback?

hope this helps ya

Yeah I already have a Fighter/Mage which I carried over from BG1. I dual classed him at level 6 which is kind of a drawback though. He's extremly powerful and has grandmastery in longswords and 3 points in dual wield. A stoneskin/mirror image/blur combo protects him from almost all pysical harm. Problem I had with him is that he's just too powerful and does everything on his own with the rest of the party just riding around on his coattails. I tried a Kensai-Mage the first time through and he stunk because he was dualed at level 6. So I think I will hold off on any type of mage for awhile. The ranger/cleric sounds fun, I think I'll try that. Thanks :)

On the note of the WS/M thing being hard to role play... Isn't there a book that tells how ELminster became a wizard after he tried to escape/fight it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I remember from and ad...

Hi,

If you like theives either mc fighter\thief or dual kensai\thief are good. MC is better if you are thinking about TOB.

If you want a swiss army knife try swashbuckler dualed to mage, no backstab but can do all other thief stuff, fights well and has spells. Plus he levels quickly, dual at level 10.

Someone already mentioned mc Ranger\cleric. I created one the other day and he looks good. Gave him profs in mace, flail and hammer and he already has two points in dual weapon due to ranger class. Just need to find some time to play him :D

If you don't mind a little minor hacking with SK try this:

mage lvl4 ->dualed to kensai. I am having fun with mine. Its a little tricky to set up and helps if you have BG1. If you want to know how to do it, theres a recent thread on the TOB forum from me at
http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum10/HTML/000593.html

that explains why and how I did it :D

Cheers,

WittyNewt.
